As we enter into the hottest month of the year, our Chamber has a few cool events and programs to look forward to this August! On 24th, our annual Casino Night will be held at Austin Ranch at the Hilton DFW Lakes. While this fun night is a fundraiser for the Chamber, it is also a great party! If you have not made plans to attend, you can put it on your calendar now and purchase tickets online. Come for delicious food, cold drinks and lots of casino games. This annual event is put on by our Past Chairman’s Council and all of the money raised goes to the Chamber to help with facilities and infrastructure projects. We appreciate your support and hope to see you there! One other cool program to note this month is our Leadership Grapevine class! Participants were selected for the 2018-2019 class which will begin this fall. Congratulations to all of those who were able to get into the class this year. We thank you all for your enthusiasm for this program and our great City. We also thank our Chamber staff for all of the hard work and effort that you put into our Leadership program to make it so successful year after year! Enjoy this last month of summer! Join us for our August Membership Luncheon as we host Rebecca Cowle, Outreach Manager at Texas Central Partners, LLC (High Speed Rail). The luncheon will be at the Grapevine Convention Center from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). Catering will be provided by Brio Tuscan Grill and sponsored by Marinas of Lake Grapevine. Reservations can be made by visiting the Chamber website Events Page and registering online. The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug 21st, or $40 after that date. There is a $5 fee for invoicing, and all reservations not canceled by 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 22nd, will be billed.

Grapevine United Charities is born! Grapevine Chamber Foundation Exciting news from the Foundation … we added a DBA to the Foundation structure and can now do business as “Grapevine United Charities”. Isn’t that a great addition! We still operate the exact same but will be able to represent ourselves and the labors of our many committees as one unified effort! We will now work to incorporate the name addition into our printed and digital presence. We will also work to write more grant requests to major donors. We will keep you posted on our progress. Leadership Grapevine Alumni Our Alumni Association is going strong! We have 267 alumni who we have been in contact with. We are excited to be rekindling these personal and professional relationships. KL Memorial Scholarship Committee Mark your calendars for the Party of the Year on Thursday, September 6th from 6 – 9 PM at Sloan and Williams Winery on Main Street. Each September, we celebrate Kathee Livengood’s birthday and raise money for educational scholarships we grant to deserving women. Kathee was an amazing volunteer, community leader and friend to many. Since inception, this scholarship committee has raised 70K benefiting 41 women. These women’s lives have been changed forever so come help us keep the momentum going! Great food, music, wine and fellowship! No admission ticket needed. It’s free! Veterans Outreach Our Veteran Outreach efforts have paid off thanks in part to Lockheed Martin. The Foundation recently received a check for 10K that we can now grant to veteran related businesses in our community. We look forward to continuing to partner with this great company along with many others as we execute our Veterans Summit and Procurement Fair. This amazing event allows attendees to meet with some of the top 20+ largest companies in the nation and sell goods and services to them. The date is February 27th at the Grapevine Convention Center. See you there. Battered & Beautiful This feisty, determined little committee is celebrating its 1-year anniversary and we couldn’t be prouder! Join us as we honor and celebrate the amazing accomplishment of Jenny Foster & Friends. This committee has far surpassed its initial fundraising and item collection goals. Come meet Jenny & Friends at Sloan & Williams Winery on Main Street. This 1st Anniversary Benefit Concert starts at 6 PM with an alternative rock band, food, wine, raffles and more. Donating to Great Causes During our July monthly meeting we shared with our membership that through their hard work and fundraising dedication we were able to disburse $46,000 to our various supported charity organizations. We granted the Kathee Livengood Memorial Scholarship Fund $4,500 and $1,000 to District 98 Stem Scholarship Fund. In addition, we gave $7,500 to GRACE to support their Back to School Drive and an additional $150 in over the counter medication to help stock their clinic after their fire. August 11th our members will volunteer their time and giving out over $32,000 of school supplies to over 1400 students in the district in need at the GCISD Back to School event. Moving into September, we are looking forward to working the Beer Booths at GrapeFest to raise funds for our next project – Christmas spirit for seniors and those disadvantaged living within our community. We have begun preparations for our next fundraising event Elves on the Run – a 5K to be held on December 1st at Oak Grove Park. Mark your calendars and SAVE the Date for this fun holiday 5K!
