The YEA! participants learn all aspects of business ownership from setting up their company structure to how to sell and market their products. They have to complete a business & financial plan to present to investors to receive funding. Another key component is that each YEA! member has to fund a part of their business with their own money. They have to put skin in the game. This program provides a great learning experience for these

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake has won the top spot in the medium organization size category in the 2013 Best Companies to Work for in Texas awards program. This program was created in 2006 and is a project of Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (TSC-SHRM) and Best Companies Group. Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division

The Women’s Division started the month off with our first fundraising event of the year – Great Taste of Grapevine. It took place on Thursday, April 11th at a new venue, the Embassy Suites Outdoor World, and boy what a grand time it was! Our sincerest and deepest thanks go out to all who attended the event and especially to those who chose to sponsor the event. Classic Chevrolet was our faithful Presenting and Wine Glass Sponsor; Paradise Cove, our Grand Raffle Sponsor; Premier Bank Texas the Bottled Water Sponsor; Box Insurance Agency, Style & Grace and Crestmont Roofing & Restoration were the Tote Bag Sponsors, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine stepped up as the Great Chefs in Action sponsor, Wright Construction Company was once again our Scavenger Hunt sponsor and Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau the People’s Choice sponsor. We were also blessed with several Gourmet, Taste Bite and In-Kind sponsors. This year we had a fabulous line up of Chamber member restaurants including: Aleda’s Pizza, Bob’s Steak & Chop House, Boi Na Braza Brazilian Steak House, Brio Tuscan Grille, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chill Sports Bar & Grill, Cliff’s Star Grill, Dino’s Steak and Claw House, eaZi’s Market Bakery, Embassy Suites Grill, Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano, Flips Patio Grill, Gingerine Thai Fresh Asian, Joe’s Crabshack, La Madeleine, McAlister’s Deli, Mi Dia From Scratch, Napoli’s Italian Café & Confectionery, Outback Steakhouse, red robin, Silver fox Steakhouse, The Back Porch Grill & Tavern, Tribeca Americana Bistro & Lounge, Weinberger’s Deli and Winewood. Over 460 people enjoyed the food that was often described as “the best ever!” The change in venue was also well received. Many guests commented that they loved the courtyard environment at Embassy Suites. A huge “thank you” goes out to Emily McRoberts of Homestead Winery who chaired the event. Emily and her team did a fabulous job. Lastly regarding Great Taste – the winning restaurants: we had 3 awards that were determined by a panel of judges and the People’s Choice Award, voted by the attendees, participating by ballot on their Scavenger Hunt restaurant map.

The winners were:

Best Small Restaurant – Chill Sports Bar & Grill Best Medium Restaurant – eaZi’s Market Bakery Best Large Restaurant – Embassy Suites Grill People’s Choice Award – Chill Sports Bar & Grill

Congratulations to all of our winners! It was a great evening full of good times and great food all benefitting our well-deserving School Supplies for Kids and Christmas Spirit for Senior Citizens projects. Again, thank you to all who supported by attending, volunteering, participating and/or sponsoring. We couldn’t meet these needs without you. The following week was our monthly luncheon where we were treated to a fabulous program by Jason Keller of the Grapevine Police Department. He gave us an overview of safety and awareness and the ladies were so interested we finally had to end the question and answer section. We really appreciate Jason coming out to speak to us as well as the fine work that our Police Department does on a daily basis. The next monthly Women’s Division meeting will be Tuesday, May 21st and will feature Dawn Owens, owner of City Florist, who will offer floral arranging ideas and tips. Our luncheon sponsor will be Woodridge Health & Rehab, Renee Stephen and Teresa Tuttle. We meet at Stacy Furniture in the 3rd Floor Community Room on the third Tuesday of each month at 11:45. Please contact Casey Hege, casey@boxinsurance.com if you are interested in attending. BJ Wilson, Chair Women’s Division Grapevine Chamber of Commerce
