Moving the Chamber Forward into 2014 Continued from page 1 your families. It seems like only yesterday that I accepted the role as Chairman of this great Chamber. It has been my honor to serve with an outstanding Chamber staff and Board of Directors to assist in the continued development of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has accomplished many milestones this year, including becoming Four-Star Accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The creation of the Grapevine Chamber Foundation allows for you to contribute to charitable organizations through your Chamber. The Chamber also purchased the property that the Chamber office sits on to stabilize the future of the organization. In addition, our CEO RaDonna Hessel obtained her Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) certification that places our CEO among the top Chamber executives in the country. These are just a few of the accomplishments your Chamber achieved in 2013. Our Chamber staff has worked diligently this year to develop programs that continue to build value for you as Chamber investors. The monthly Leadership Breakfast Series has been a great success, along with AMP’T, which focuses on our young executives in the community. The Young Entrepreneurs Academy enters its second year and continues to develop our future leaders. These are just a few of the many opportunities the Chamber offers. I encourage you to visit the Chamber website often to see where you can jump in to enhance your business. As we look to the season of giving, I encourage you to attend our December Chamber luncheon. Rocky Gribble and his band will be our entertainment once again, and I would like to personally thank Rocky for his many years of service to The Grapevine Opry and the Chamber (You don’t get out of the December luncheon though!). You will also have a chance to give back as your cost of entry into the December luncheon will be a canned food item and NEW clothing item for GR ACE. Bring both of those with you to the luncheon and your luncheon admission is FREE.

Let’s really show the giving spirit and support GR ACE, and don’t forget that you might WIN the Must Be Present to Win Drawing, which is now up to $1,350! You must be present to WIN! What a Christmas gift! As I leave the Chairman role, I would like to thank RaDonna for her awesome leadership and for making my job enjoyable; the Chamber staff for always being available for any need or question; and the Chamber Board of Directors who continue to show great leadership and strategic vision in moving the Chamber forward. Thanks for your hard work and supporting me in so many ways. Thanks also to my executive team of Scott Summers, Jane Richards and C.W. Higgins for helping keep me on track and offering great wisdom in our decisions. C.W. with Classic Chevrolet takes the Chairman role in January and will continue to take the Chamber to new levels. I appreciate his support as Chairman Elect this past year. As our Chamber continues to grow and prosper, it takes all of us with many ideas, thoughts and skills to keep it moving in the right direction. We are stronger together, and if we work together, the Chamber continues to move forward. Thanks for allowing me to serve you as your Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2013. I encourage you to take advantage of all the opportunities you have through Chamber activities to market your business. It will help you get the most from your Chamber investment. Again, if I or any member of your Board can be of any assistance, please let any of us know. We are here to serve you. Have a Merry Christmas and a blessed 2014!

Best regards, Perry Leonard President/COO Blagg Tire & Service

Win Money for Attending the Luncheon! Those in attendance for the October luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” drawing continue its climb. The drawing gained another $50 and now sits at $1350. The Annual Grapevine Parade of Lights is Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in Historic Downtown Grapevine. This year’s theme is Winter Holiday, and we have a great lineup for this year’s parade once again! The parade will begin at Hanover St. and end at Wall St. You are encouraged to not have your car parked on Main St. during the parade to allow for more viewing areas. We are looking forward to another wonderful parade, and we hope you can join us!

Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division

Once again, the Women’s Division participated in the 21st Annual Classic Chili Cook-off and had great fun showcasing our “HoHoHoeDown” Santa aprons. Next was our monthly meeting. We were honored to have Dr. Robin Ryan, Superintendent of GCISD with us. Dr. Ryan’s presentation was very eye-opening in regard to the changes that have taken place in the workplace over the last 20 years, and consequently in how our schools need to prepare students. The overwhelming changes in technology and social media outlets have created many job opportunities that didn’t even exist in 1990 – for example a Chief Listening Officer. What is it you ask? Well, as Dr. Ryan suggested, “Google it!” School is just a tad bit different than it was back in the day! December brings us fully into Christmas Spirit mode. We have set up Christmas Wish Trees at the Community Activities Center, the Chamber office and at the city Library. Please make a point ot stop by and pick out a deserving individual’s gift wish list and make the season happier for them this year. Each of the recipients is a local senior or disabled citizen. The wrapped gifts are due back no later than December 10th so we can deliver them on December 14th. We also welcome anyone who wishes to help us deliver. The very next week we have our December monthly meeting, on December 17th beginning at 11:45 in the Third Floor Community Room at Stacy Furniture. I’ve heard a rumor that we will have a very special Christmas guest! To secure your reservation, simply purchase your meal on the Chamber website or contact Casey Hege at casey@boxinsurance.com. Finally, to finish out the month we host an awesome party – the HoHoHoeDown! Please join us in this community event on Thursday, December 19th at Willhoite’s (which will be closed to the public with no smoking!) We will have a boot scootin’ good time while we raise money for school supplies for GCISD students and our Grapevine Senior Citizen Christmas Spirit Fund. We will have a Grand Prize raffle (2 nights at the Riverwalk Hilton San Antonio plus lots more), Boot Raffles, dinner and dancing. The band Manny and the Gringaderos will be providing the tunes and you can attend in casual western attire. Check with your favorite Women’s Division member to purchase tickets or get them on the Chamber website. Tickets are $45 each which gets you a meal and a gallopin’ good time.

BJ Wilson, Chair Women’s Division Grapevine Chamber of Commerce

Women’s Division Christmas Spirit 2013 of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce The Women’s Division has started our annual Christmas Spirit project for 2013. Every year we partner with the Grapevinecommunity to fulfill Christmas wish listsfrom disabled and low income seniors that areclients of GRACE. If you would like to be Santa for a senior please stop by the Grapevine Community Activities Center, the Grapevine Library or the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Office. Our Christmas Tree will be decorated with ornament wish lists. Choose an ornament from the tree, shop from the wish list and return the new, wrapped gifts to the tree or the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce by December 10th. Instructions are on the ornaments. Our elves will collect the gifts and help Santa deliver each gift to our seniors on December 14h. We are always looking for more elves to help on delivery day so please let me know if you would like to participate with us on the December 14th delivery day. You may also donate funds to this project. This is a wonderful project for families or coworkers to join together and help a senior citizen in our community. Thank you for your support.
