Dear Members, We’re in the heart of fall at Innisbrook and we have lots of fun events and activities for all ages. October is full of spooky and not-so-spooky fun for the entire family. Head to the Osprey Bar this Halloween for a costume contest and our bartenders’ ghoulish “Witches Brew.” Our younger members will shriek with delight at our Halloween weekend activities at the Loch Ness Pool, including a Haunted Hallows maze and a candy corn carnival. Don’t forget to stop by the Indaba Spa for autumn-inspired treatments that are sure to rejuvenate as the weather begins to turn. For more information on member activities or specials, please contact your membership office. Our public relations team has also been hard at work getting the coverage for Innisbrook and our sister properties. Noteworthy Junior Member and Student Michelle Butler The Butler family have been part of the Innisbrook Membership since 2007. Michelle Butler grew up at Innisbrook practicing on the range and playing on all four courses. Michelle just entered her junior year at the University of Missouri where she attends on a full golf scholarship and plays the number one position on the team. Michelle had a very impressive 2013-2014 season where in a tournament that her school participated in, she established a new woman’s course record shooting of 66 at Stoneybrook in Fort Myers. Michelle has participated in the USGA Women’s Amateur Tournament and just missed qualifying for the USGA Women’s Open by one shot. Obviously Michelle has a real talent for golf but excels academically as well, where her major is Chemistry and she consistently makes the Dean’s list. If you have a story about a Noteworthy Innisbrook Junior Member you’d like to share, please send information to Christine in Membership at Christine.desiderio@playinnisbrook.com.

Remembering Mr. Stan Wadsworth, a Visionary Mr. Stanley D. Wadsworth passed away on September 13, 2014, at his home in Scottsdale, AZ. Stan is survived by his wife Mary and children Hal and Holly. Stan and his brother Brent along with Harvey Jones were the visionaries for Innisbrook. With capital of their own, together with additional financing, they provided the start-up funds for the fledgling enterprise called Innisbrook Associates. When Stan, Brent and Harvey first saw the property that was to become Innisbrook, they knew it was indeed special and vowed to keep it that way. An entrance, designed with a mile long, winding tree-lined road and thick woods to provide privacy, set the mood for the natural beauty of Innisbrook. Condominium sales began in February, 1970 and construction was hard pressed to keep up with demand. Given the success of Innisbrook the three tried it again and developed Innisbrook’s sister property Tamarron located near Durango, Colorado. Stan became President and CEO of Golf Hosts, Inc., the umbrella Company for both Innisbrook and Tamarron. In that position he led the successful effort to sell the Company in June, 1997. Thereafter, Stan and Mary lived at Tamarron for several years before moving to Scottsdale. With Innisbrook now in its fifth decade, the membership is still indeed fortunate to enjoy the results of the efforts and vision of three extraordinary gentlemen – Stan Wadsworth, Brent Wadsworth and Harvey Jones.

table T A L K

Table Talk with Chef Andrew Coniglio Roast Pumpkin and Apple Cider Soup To me, the autumn flavors that come to mind when thinking about recipes are pumpkin and apple. This recipe truly represents all the flavors expected this time of year. The roasted flavors from the pumpkin, sweetness of apple and all the spices that bring it together. As the temperatures outside go down, a soup like this will warm you up.

Yield: 6-8 portions • 6 Cups Fresh Pumpkin (skin off, diced) • 1 White Onion (diced) • 1 Stalk Celery (diced) • 4 Each Bay Leaves • 2 Small Granny Smith Apples (peeled and diced) • 1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon • 1 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg • ½ Teaspoon All-Spice • ½ Teaspoon Ground Cloves

• 3 Cups Apple Cider • 3 Cups Chicken Broth • 3 Cups Heavy Cream • 1/8 Cup Vegetable Oil • Cinnamon Sour Cream for Garnish (mix a pinch of cinnamon with sour cream) • 1/4 Pound of Butter (cubed) • Salt & Pepper To Taste

Method 1. Toss pumpkin with salt, pepper, half of the cinnamon and vegetable oil and lay out on a cookie pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes or until golden brown and soft in the middle. 2. Take pumpkin out and put to the side. 3. In a stock pot melt your butter and cook off the onions, celery until translucent.

4. A dd roast pumpkin, apples, bay leaves and the rest of you spices and cook for 2 minutes on medium heat.

5. Deglaze pan with apple cider and chicken broth, bring to simmer and cook for 30 minutes. 7. Remove bay leaves and puree soup with hand blender or traditional blender/food processor. 8. Check and adjust for seasoning (if soup is too thick, add some more cream). 9. Garnish with cinnamon sour cream.

pipeline | 19

6. Slowly add the heavy cream while stirring constantly and simmer for 5 minutes on low.

Nature Watch: White Headed Eagle

photographed by Golf Operations Dave Noel “The great strength, daring, and cool courage of the White-headed Eagle, joined to his unequaled power of flight, render him highly conspicuous around his brethren. To these qualities did he add a generous disposition towards others, he might be looked on as a model of nobility. The ferocious, overbearing, and tyrannical temper which is ever and anon displaying itself in actions, is, nevertheless, best adapted to his state, and was wisely given him by the Creator to enable him to perform the office assigned to him.” “The figure of this noble bird is well known throughout the civilized world, emblazoned as it is our national standard, which waves in the breeze of every chime, bearing the distant lands the remembrance of a great people living in a state of peaceful freedom. May that peaceful freedom last for ever!”
