Happy New Year! Welcome to 2015! As we say goodbye to 2014 and welcome in the New Year I can’t help but think how far we have come and how much progress we have made. Our aim is to ensure that the amenities are always looking their best and we work hard to ensure that things are clean and operational all the time. There have been a variety of normal repair and maintenance items performed in 2014 as well as some Capital improvement projects completed. These improvements include: • Additional Driving Range Mats • Wash pad area for golf carts • New pedicure chairs and massage tables at the Spa • New Clubhouse verandah furniture • Creation of a designated Member section at the Water Park • Permanent walls and A/C at the Grande Pavilion • Additional pool furniture for Center Court Ridge and the Water Park • Resurfacing of the Water Park slide •R epair of the damaged platforms and painting of the Water Park kiddie feature • New Tiki Bar at the Water Park • New lazy river circulating pumps and water heater installed • New inventory of Water Park towels purchased • Member Parking gate arm •B usiness center carpet replacement and addition of two workstations

gath erings | 4

• Corrected numerous issues with plumbing in the Grande Then of course, there’s the (extensive) list of things that Bev comes up with! We are blessed with world class attractions all around us and Bev does a great job of blending those into our own member events. She works hard to ensure that you have a variety of interesting and fun events to attend. I am confident that 2015 will be every bit as exciting and successful as was 2014. Once again, Happy New Year, let’s have a great year together.

Turkey Scramble The big question surrounding the Turkey Scramble was, “Who would win the event?” There was a great turn out for this year’s Turkey Scramble of 36 players. Three places were paid out in the event. In third place, with a net score of 58.1 was Marc Franco, Kris Lanman, and Jim and Virginia Shelton. In a tight race for first place, the team of Chris, Don, Patrick, and William Rafferty fell short for a second place finish with a score of net 58. The winners for this year’s Turkey Scramble with a net score of 57.4 were Chris and Carole Clegg and Derek and Anne Whelan.

frankly golf

As you know, putting is 45% of your score. At the Frankly Golf Putting Academy, we want to help you improve this part of your game. Here are three easy ways you can shave strokes off your game. Make sure your putter is properly fitted Most of the putters we use are hand me downs from a relative or bought out of a store and have not been properly fitted for the golfer; as a result, we are invariably using putters that are too long for us and therefore, we need to compensate within our stroke. Here at the Frankly Golf Putting Academy, we make sure that your putter is properly fitted so you can perform to the best of your ability. Take advantage of putter technology Many of us are using blade style putter technology, when in fact, we would benefit from more of a mallet style putter, which helps forgive our mistakes. So make it easier on the green by testing out one of our Frankly Frog putters, right here at the Putting Academy, which will help stabilize your stroke and provide a larger forgiveness zone for your putts. Take a putting lesson It’s time to join the many golfers of varying skill levels that have taken putting lessons from us here at the Frankly Golf Putting Academy. We will help you improve your putting quickly and easily. Unlike the full swing, with putting you can see big improvements in a very short period of time, as well as develop an understanding of how your stroke should move.

John Wooldridge

John Wooldridge, Golf Department, Outside Operations, Receives Reunion Club Member Recognition Program (MERP) Award for November During the past ten months, members have been honoring Reunion employees for exceptional service they have performed by submitting Member Employee Recognition Program (MERP) ballots. Prior to this time, only Resort Guests had the ability to recognize employee service. The winner of November’s MERP award has been with Reunion for nearly nine years in the Golf Department, Outside Operations, as a Master Starter. You may know him as “Coach.” He got this nickname because he always carries around a clipboard just like other Coaches.

gath erings | 14

The MERP ballot for John Wooldridge read:

“ On November 15th I had a flat tire on my bike and I was walking back to my house. Many employees had passed me by and did not stop. Coach stopped and asked if I needed a lift. He made my day. Many thanks for his assistance.”

At the December Member Reception, John received a Reunion gift card and special name tag that symbolizes him as a Member Employee Recognition Program recipient. He will be considered along with other MERP recipients for the annual award which is a two-night stay in any one of the three Florida Salamander Resorts. Next time you see John, please congratulate him on the receipt of this award as well as his longstanding service with Reunion. To keep this program going, be sure to complete a MERP ballot whenever you see exceptional service demonstrated by a Reunion employee. Although only one employee receives this monthly award, all of the employees nominated receive peer and management recognition at special employee breakfasts throughout the year. You can submit a ballot for an employee who has demonstrated exceptional service at any time – not just within the month the service was performed. MERP ballots are available at all Reunion outlets or click here to access and submit a ballot online. Your online explanation is limited to 500 characters

Etiquette Etiquette on a tennis court… what is that? There are many unwritten rules in tennis on how a person should act and react, what they should do and not do, as well as the order that things should be done.

Here is a short list of things to do after a match: 1) Shake your partner’s hand before your opponent’s hand (Doubles) 2) Don’t talk about how bad you played today (no one cares) 3) Pick up all your belongings along with trash 4) Winners should pick up the balls and bring them in If you do these things you will be viewed as a very polite and experienced tennis player. See you at the courts!.
