Logan Ties Lady Patriot Balance Beam Record

Ramhorst Blasts PV to Silver Division Title

By Jessica Quas Kristina Langan tied the Wayne Hills record in the balance beam when the Lady Patriots defeated Clifton 100.95-89-425. The sophomore earned a score of 9.35 from the judges to match the mark set in 2003 by current Pascack Regional head coach Jenny Ortiz. Langan added a fi rst place effort in the vault with a score of 9.4 while her teammate Courtney Conforth placed fi rst in the fl oor exercise with a score of 8.7 as Wayne Hills improved to 4-2. Ramapo edged Ridgewood 108.825-107.725 despite a strong effort by the Maroons’ Yurina Harada who claimed the all-around title with a point total of 37.22 that included the fi rst place score of 9.325 in the balance beam. Ramapo received fi rst place performances from Shara Gipson in the uneven bars (9.325) and vault (9.5) along with Kayla Yosif in the fl oor exercise (9.425). Harada recorded a clean sweep to highlight Ridgewood’s 109.25 – 104.25 victory over Pascack Regional. She claimed the all-around title with 38.05 points that included fi rst place scores in the balance beam (9.4), fl oor exercise (9.65), vault (9.6) and uneven bars (9.4).

By Jessica Quas Pascack Valley captured the Silver Division title in the Bloomfield Tournament, defeating Bloomfield, J.P. Stevens and Marlboro. In their next dual matchup, the Indians rolled to a 2-0 triumph over Fort Lee as senior co-captain Chantel Ramhorst spiked 13 kills. Setter Danielle Bonnett directed the attack, distributing 18 assists while Amanda Patalano scooped up 14 digs as Pascack Valley upped its overall record to 5-2. Amanda Rachel Garcia spiked nine kills to spur Tenafly to a 25-9 victory over Garfield in the fi nals of the

Tenafly Tigers Tournament. Caitriona Rafferty directed the attack, distributing 11 assists as the second seeded Tigers, who defeated third seeded Dwight-Englewood 25-14 in the semifi nals while Meagan Goodfriend scooped up a dozen assists. Immaculate Heart Academy competed in the ASICS Challenge in Chicago. The Blue Eagles defeated York (IL) 2-1, winning games of 25-15, 1925 and 28-26, Lone Peak (UT) 2-0, posting wins of 25-15, 2624, Downers Grove South (IL) 2-0 with scores of 27-25 and 25-22. The Blue Eagles lost to a pair of Wisconsin schools, Pius XI 2-1 and Catholic Memorial 2-0.

Ramsey overcame an outstanding effort at the net by Ridgefield Park’s Irene Kontogiannis who spiked 27 kills as the Rams rallied to a 2-1 victory over the Scarlets, winning by scores of 23-25, 25-16 and 26-24. Madeline McCormack slammed 10 kills, Kathryn Mazzilli dished off nine assists and Juliann Kalksma had eight digs. River Dell remained undefeated after 11 dual matches by routing Westwood 2-0 on scores of 25-10 and 25-16. Kalette deMarrais set up the attack, distributing 11 assists while Mary Maccabee slammed seven kills and Sarah Recanati picked up seven digs.
