CACC The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (NY) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician College, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University, University of the Sciences and Wilmington University. The CACC was founded in 1961. A meeting of eight schools was arranged and hosted by Norm Wilhelmi, Athletic Director at The King's (NY) College. The meeting resulted in the forming a new conference, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The conference included eight original members in the fall of 1961. They were Bloomfield College, Dowling College, The King's College, Marist College, Monmouth College, Nyack College, C.W. Post College and Southampton College. After years of transition and membership changes, NAIA members Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Dominican College, Georgian Court College, Nyack College, Teikyo- Post University and St. Thomas Aquinas College made application to the NCAA Division II. The seven schools applied for membership in the fall of 1998. In 2002 the CACC qualified for NCAA Division II Provisional Conference Status and it achieved Active Status in July of 2004. Six schools: Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Dominican College, Felician College, Georgian Court College and Post University, became full Division II members in 2002-03. Holy Family College, Goldey-Beacom College, Nyack College and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia became active DII members in 2003-04, followed by Wilmington College in 2004-05. During the span from 1999-2009, the conference underwent numerous changes in addition to upgrading to Division II. In 1999, St. Thomas Aquinas left the conference and five new members joined. Felician College, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family College, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Wilmington College, all NAIA schools, immediately ap-

plied for Division II status upon becoming members. In 2000, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) boosted the membership to 12 schools and that number grew to 13 in 2005 as Philadelphia University started active membership. NJIT moved on to Division I status after the 2005-06 season. The addition of Chestnut Hill College in 2007 and Concordia College in 2009 brought the CACC to 14 members. Only four conferences in Division II have more members. The CACC currently offers 13 championship sports, including men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's golf and women's lacrosse. Currently, nine of the CACC's season-ending tournaments lead to automatic NCAA qualifications, including women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's basketball, softball, baseball and men's golf.

All-Academic team in the fall of 2004 and the number of names on the list continues to grow each year. The CACC honored 285 scholar-athletes in 2010-2011. The CACC has also become one of the national leaders in the annual Division II Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser. The 13 CACC schools raised $12,218 in 200809, the eighth-highest total in Division II. Division II is composed of 23 conferences and seven independent institutions ranging from coast-to-coast-and beyond. Division II is the only NCAA membership division with programs in Alaska and Puerto Rico. Furthermore, four of the five colleges on Hawaii are members of Division II.

With its ascent to active Division II status, the Conference made major improvements by introducing a new website and logo. Both were unveiled in July of 2004. The website, www.caccathletics.org, contains updated stats, schedules, results, photos and news about all 14 member schools. The site underwent a complete redesign in the summer of 2009 and is scheduled for another in 2012. The CACC adopted its current logo from a design submitted by Royal Rooster Design of Iowa. In 2009, the CACC commissioned seperate logos for each conference sport and in 2010 added championship tournament logos for all sports. A 50th Anniversary Logo was created for the 2011-2012 academic year. The logos are trademarked through an agreement with Strategic Marketing Alliance (SMA) to protect and market the CACC marks. Off the court and field, the CACC and its student-athletes take pride in the balance between academics and athletics. The CACC finished third nationally among Division II Conferences for the graduation rate of its student-athletes, according to the latest NCAA report. Furthermore, the conference established its inaugural http://athletics.holyfamily.edu | 4

Head Coach Georg Montag that will come to fruition.” Montag is no stranger to Holy Family and the men's soccer program. For the past seven seasons, Montag served as head assistant coach. During that span, the Tigers were 73-55-10 and advanced to the CACC Championship Final twice. “I was very pleased and excited when Sandy called to tell me I would be the next head men's soccer coach at Holy Family University,” said Montag. “I want to personally thank Sandy, along with the athletic department, and senior administration for giving me this opportunity. With the quality of the players returning along with the excitement of adding new talented student-athletes, I welcome the opportunity to continue the success that has been established with the ultimate objective of continued achievement for the future.” Montag had a stellar playing career as a four-year starter at nearby La Salle University, where he was a three-time All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selection and a three-time All-Soccer Seven selection.

Montag was named the program’s fifth ever head coach on Nov. 30, 2011. “Hiring Georg as the men's head soccer coach was a decision that made sense on many levels,” said Director of Athletics Sandra Michael. “During Georg's tenure with the team as the assistant coach, he brought experience, knowledge, and dedication to the program. He developed a professional rapport with the team as well as the entire department. Georg definitely gained the respect of the team over the years. Often Georg would quickly jump in practice to demonstrate skills or their game strategy.” Michael continues, “I'm looking forward to Georg continuing the success that the team has experienced in the classroom and on the pitch. We made many strides in connecting with our Alumni and I know that Georg will continue to make inroads with them. My vision is to bring home the CACC banner and I am confident that under Georg's direction

2012 Season Outlook

Men’s Soccer Sets Sights on Conference Championship The Holy Family University men’s soccer team brings back six starters from last year’s squad as the Tigers look to return to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament for an impressive seventh straight year in 2012. This season, Holy Family will have a new, but familiar face on the sidelines guiding the team. Georg Montag takes over the reins as the program’s fifth head coach after serving as head assistant coach the past seven seasons. During that span, the Tigers were 73-55-10 and advanced to the CACC Championship Final twice. Also joining the coaching staff as the head assistant coach is Bill O’Neill along with volunteer assistant, Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, N.J./Paul VI). Holy Family finished 11-6-1 overall a year ago and were 7-3-1 in conference play to earn the number five seed in the CACC Championship. The Tigers advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2008. Holy Family was also ranked in the NSCAA Division II East Region rankings for four consecutive weeks as well. The team was ranked as high as sixth in the region at one point during the season. Despite last year’s success, Holy Family was picked 13 | Holy Family Tigers Men’s Soccer 2012

to finish sixth in the annual CACC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll after receiving 75 points. Even though the poll can’t predict fully how the season will unfold, if the poll does pan out, the Tigers will be among the eight teams competing in this year’s conference championship. Holy Family has the talent and depth to do just that. Holy Family returns a total of 12 players from last year’s squad along with nine newcomers. The Tigers come back with two of their three All-CACC selections from last season; including senior defender Dodji Freitas (Philadelphia, Pa. (Togo)//Samuel Fels)

2012 Season Outlook

and sophomore forward Nicolas Delgado (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic). Freitas earned second team honors for the second consecutive season, while Delgado was named the conference’s Rookie of the Year. Despite losing All-Conference and All-Region selection in Seydou Ba (Philadelphia, Pa. (Mauritania)/John Bartram) to graduation, the Tigers do return three of their top four scorers from a year ago. Delgado finished last season with six goals and two assists for 14 points, while senior Jeffrey Wimsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and sophomore Keith Crews (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) each tallied five goals and three assists each.

Defensively, the Tigers defense allowed only 1.60 goals per game ranking the team fifth in the conference. The team will have plenty of experience on the defensive end and midfield area with Freitas and juniors Ahmed Elgayar (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Ira Woodruff (Philadelphia, Pa./North Catholic) all returning. The three of them combined have played in 120 career games giving the Tigers leadership and experience in the defensive end. Holy Family opens the season on Thursday with a non-conference contest at home with East Stroudsburg University before heading to the University of New Haven on Sunday, Sept. 2. After back-to-back non-conference opponents, the Tigers open their conference schedule on the road against Caldwell College on Saturday, Sept. 8.
