Project name: Platform for youth sustainability Realization period: October 2011 Main topic: sustainable development and activating youth leadership Type of activity: promotion and education (press conference and seminar) The project created a Platform of relevant youth organizations in Republic of Macedonia and enabled their members to connect, learn and actively participate in projects from the field of ecology and sustainable development. The forming of the Platform was joined by three non-governmental organizations which are actively working with young people, which are: AIESEC (www.aiesec.org.mk), Youth Educational Forum www.mof.org.mk and the Union of Scouts in RM. These organizations are considered to be one of the most relevant youth organizations with total active membership of more than 500 young people located in 9 cities in Macedonia. An agreement with the Presidents of the organizations was made and the “declaration for youth sustainability” was written. The Platform was officially announced on the 6th October 2011 on a Press Conference in the French Cultural Centre in Skopje. The press conference announced the kick-off event (seminar) on the 8th October 2011. The seminar took place at the Economic Faculty in Skopje and 82 young people participated and learned about the topic of sustainable development, waste management and renewable energy sources. After the key note speech by the Ambassador, his Excellency Jean-Claude Schlumberger, the declaration for youth sustainability was signed at the official opening of the event by the Presidents of the four NGOs, Go Green, AIESEC, Youth Educational Forum and the Scouts of RM. The opening was followed by lectures on climate change, sustainable development, renewable energy and waste management.
