FROM A GARDEN SHED….Global Services was founded by marine engineer, Richard Gardiner, who started his career in the Merchant Navy before progressing to the rank of Chief Engineer on private yachts. Richard started Global Services Ltd in 1995 out of a small garden shed in Exeter, UK.
His vision was to source, purchase and provide crew members across all departments with the items they need, when they need them. Many nautical miles later, we are global by name and by nature.

We are privileged to work with many of the world’s most inspiring and prestigious yachts, shipyards and marine management companies.
Now, we are a growing team of 40, with state-of-the-art logistic hubs in the UK and EU, with additional local sourcing in Palma and Barcelona.
In 2018, we were delighted that Sir Charles Dunstone and his team at Freston Ventures Ltd. decided to make a significant investment in us, the people who work for Global Services.
Sir Charles, best known as founder of Carphone Warehouse and Executive Chairman of Talk Talk Group, has a deep affiliation to the marine industry and has been an avid yachtsman since his youth, participating in sailing regattas around the globe.
Ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation, Sir Charles is owner of the 64.4 metre classic 1930’s yacht Shemara which was fully refitted by a yard that he set up specifically for the task with his friend and business partner Peter Morton, Global Services’ Executive Chairman, at the helm.

With 25+ years’ experience of managing the purchasing needs of yachting customers in all the key locations around the world, Global Services’ dedicated supply division has an intimate knowledge of the tight deadlines, unique requirements and juggling involved in every quote and order.
Many customers come to us because of our reputation for solving challenges around rising material prices and supply chain issues. We also have across-department expertise in UK/EU and post Brexit trade.

CREDIT ACCOUNTS – Order on your account and pay within 30 days. We understand the urgency to get your goods on board - setting up a credit account allows us to be more efficient in placing your orders when you need them.

PACKING, SHIPPING AND STORAGE IN THE UK AND EU
CONSOLIDATED SHIPPING
Many of our yachting clients ask us to store goods (e.g. spares) in our UK or EU Hub until they are required. This allows them to take advantage of consolidated shipping.
Where six or more pallets are required, bulk shipments on a dedicated vehicle prove to be more cost-effective.
SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS
Our Relationship Managers work with our shipping and logistics team to source the most cost and time-effective transport solution. This takes into consideration whether the shipment is:

HAZARDOUS GOODS
We arrange specialist international transportation of chemicals, compressed gasses and other hazardous goods needing to be shipped.
All
UK and EU are checked, labelled (see left) and packed into strong cardboard shipping boxes to send to our customers.
If it’s more cost-effective for hazardous goods to be sourced in the same country as the yacht we will source local suppliers who can deliver them straight to the yacht, which saves time and money.
Many
doubles up as on-board storage, such as high-strength, secure Zarges metal packing cases or George Utz plastic boxes.
BESPOKE PACKING FOR VALUABLES
We have great experience of handling and shipping extremely valuable goods, from priceless antiques to works of art.
With the help of some clever laser technology and high-density packing foam, we offer a bespoke packing service for the shipping and storage of precious items.
Originally designed for tool planning, our high-density, bespoke foam cut-outs preserve valuable artifacts both in transit and on-board. The foam inserts sit neatly in plastic or stainless packing boxes.
