4.4 Economic implications This report documents the biocapacity situation for California. The next question would be to explore: What does this situation (and trends in this situation) mean for California’s economic and social health? How significant are the economic risks of running at the current biocapacity deficit, particularly considering that the world as a whole is running in ecological overshoot?
