SUMMERTIME CARD by Tracy Schultz

Summertime brings lots of things: pool parties, popsicles, and my favorite â&#x20AC;&#x201C; a variety of birds eating at our feeders. My husband and I love bird watching in the warmer months. For this card, I took the sweet chevron paper from Oh Happy Day, cut it to fit my cardstock, and then added a second layer of blue cardstock on top. Two cute birds were fussy-cut from the paper and adhered to a piece of twine which acts as the wire spanning across for them to sit on.

This is one of my favorite photos of my daughter. The neutral colors in it gave me the opportunity to enhance my layout with any colorful paper that I wanted. I cut 1 inch strips of paper from the Splendor and Country Charm collections and placed them along one side of my layout. I also Spellbinders' Floral Tags die to cut the roses from the pattern paper. Adding a bit of glitter was the perfect accent to add a little sparkle to the page.

For this layout, I really wanted to go with a star theme after I picked out the patterned paper. I used my die cutting machine, as well as punches to make star accents for my page. I stuck with bright primary colors to compliment my photo.

Pocket Technique by Guiseppa Gubler

I love creating unique cards. It is fun giving someone something that they want to keep and enjoy looking at. This fun 4th of July card is held in a pocket, but waitâ&#x20AC;Ś there is another pocket within the pocket and then you will find the sentiment card itself. The card is a fun surprise that anyone would be happy to get!

Red, White and Blue all the way! This being our first July issue of the PaperCut, we decided to have a strong 4th of July Theme on the cover. This month we allowed the team to try out for the cover and three of our talented gals took the spots. With Oh Happy Day as our collection of the month, we picked three cards from Nina Yang, Amanda Coleman, and Clare Prezzia. All three of these cards had such personality and worked so well together on a white and denim background. Happy Fourth by Clare Prezzia I feel in love with the "clothespin heart line" and strong Red, White and Blue combo. This card holds a wonderful presence on the cover and it has a country feel to it. Perfect for this great holiday. Darling by Amanda Cloeman This card was so playful and anyone getting it in the mail, would giggle from it's funny quote. The popped up clouds and pinwheel adds beautiful height and texture in a perfect way. Happy 4th of July by Nina Yang What's not to love about this card?! The bright colors and clean white title, plus lets not forget that darling star among the clouds. I could see this card being used for a 4th of July party invite, which would have the guest's mouths on the floor (from all the design elements). If I got an invite like this in the mail, I would be R.S.V.Ping. right way.

BIRTHDAY MEMORIES by Pam Callaghan

1 Boy Layout

My son's tenth birthday was a big deal and I envisioned lots of balloon like shapes on my page. I went with patterned papers and a few photos of my son blowing out candles inside of the circles. To create the look of conjoined circles, I first traced out my design onto the cream paper. I used my old Coluzzle to cut out the circles inside and out (you can also use an exacto knife). The brightly colored papers gave the balloon appearance all over the page. The dark background made everything pop.

2 Birthday Gift Wrap

Birthdays and butterflies ~ I can't think of a better combination for Summer! The Bonjour papers were perfect for helping me create these gifts without being over-the-top girly. The gifts were also easy to make ~ I just traced the box and wooden bag, cut out the papers, and adhered the papers to the packages. I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut out the Happy Birthday sign and I hand cut the butterflies. I wanted to make these gifts somewhat simple so the embellishments didn't overpower the great jagged chevron pattern of the Au Revoir paper. These gifts were super fun to make and I plan to make more!

To make the tissue paper flowers 1. First you need about 8 layers of tissue paper sized 5" x 6" and a pipe cleaner or thin ribbon. 2. Accordion pleat the tissue paper stack in 1" increments and secure it in the middle with pipe cleaner or ribbon. Trim both ends of tissue paper so they are rounded. 3. Starting with the top layer, carefully pull the tissue paper up and in to form the petals. 4. And just like that you have your flower!

3 Birthday Cards for Boys

OH MY STARS CARD

ROCKET CARD

I don't know about you, but I have a nephew who absolutely adores wearing different patterns at the same time, especially if they're super bright. For this card, I took the plaid and yellow striped papers and cut them just smaller than my card front. Then, on my plaid piece of paper, I cut along the straight lines of the plaid to remove the lighter portions of the plaid design. I glued down the remaining stripes onto the yellow paper leaving gaps where the lighter portion was removed. This is where the yellow striped paper (or whatever pattern you choose) peeks through, and makes one new, crazy pattern.

The green striped paper was adhered directly to the card front. The blue paper houses the slider element. To make the slider, I simply cut two vertical strips on the left and right side of the decorative paper, from halfway to almost the top edge. Then added my sliders and adhered that to my image panel. The little arrow is a prompt for the recipient to pull up. When he does, the fun sentiment is revealed- along with more of that gorgeous paper!

4 Birthday Cards for Girls

FLORAL TWEEN CARD

BIRTHDAY TRIO CARD

This first card would be perfect for a tween's birthday with the pretty floral patterned paper banner and the cute little banner and polka dot stamped images. Layering a few of the banner pennants with some foam tape makes some of the patterned paper stand out! Try arranging the banner asymmetrically on the card to draw interest to it. A few pearls add the finishing touches.

This birthday card would be great to give to a little girl! What little girl wouldn't like the cute paper-pieced presents and scalloped ribbon detail? I stamped presents on patterned paper and then pieced them together, choosing brightly colored ribbon to add some softer texture. I stamped the polka dot panel in the background to create a confetti-type festive backdrop for the gifts. I added foam tape to the center gift to give this card some dimension. Sometimes you don't need a sentiment if the theme of the card is straight-forward, hence the birthday gifts!

PARTY HAT by Mary Ann Jenkins Although my daughter's birthday is still four months away, she has already started planning her party after seeing this sweet little party hat. The hat was easy to make with just a piece of 12x12 paper and a few scraps for accents. To start, I rolled the paper into a cone shape and hot glued at the seam. I trimmed a bit of the paper from the bottom edge so it would sit level, then added the pretty maribou feather trim. I punched a few scalloped circles and added the number 4, then hot glued two thin pieces of ribbon to the sides to tie it easily on her head.

6 Birthday Invitations

There's no happier day than your birthday, and the Oh Happy Day collection is perfect for creating the perfect invitation to your soiree. Inspired by the garden feel of these papers, I created a garden party-themed invite, bursting with blooms and feminine detail Beginning with a base floral pattern, I layered a paper doily and a fussy-cut rose and banner. Lifting the last piece with foam adhesive gives the card dimension. The banner is the perfect place for the "you're invited" sentiment. I fussy-cut another rose and added it to the corner of the inside of the invitation, repeating the motif and adding color.

For this page I choose several patterns to make my own stripes "paper". I mismatched the the size of the stripes to add some depth to on the page. I also choose the colors to coordintate with the colors of the shirt in the photo, and I think the patterns in the paper make for lots of fun color contrast. I love how staggering the stripes works your eye down the page of the layout. I love stripes at an angle, so I layered my Hailey Paper (straight stripes) from Oh Happy Day at an angle for this card. I added some interest to the card by giving the pink bird some dimension. technique 5 sewing stripes by Clare Prezzia

1. I sewed the stripes onto the fun Amber's Avenue chevron paper. Sewing helps the chevron pattern shine! 2. I cut the end of the threads short. 3. Then used some washi tape (which is not only fashionable, but very useful!) to tape everything to the back of the paper.

the dog days of summer

Take a bit of the Splendor collection and add a splash of the Country Charm collection and you get the perfect color palette for summer photos! That is what I did here and it really put me in a beachy mood. But since I didn't think it was a good idea to haul my layout and supplies to the beach, I brought the beach to my layout! Yep, I put sand on part of my title!! Simply brush on a coat of liquid glue - I used Martha Stewart glitter glue - and pour on the sand. Let dry and repeat once more for better coverage. I just love the texture it adds to the layout!
