Relax – the International Coordinators are here

Are you newly arrived in Sweden? The first time can be stressful and confusing. Luckily The Student Union has three International Coordinators to help you, and bring you into the community. Any concerns and questions regarding living abroad or other issues can be raised with the International Coordinators. “You can contact us whenever you want. Call us or send us an e-mail if you have a question. And don’t be shy to come in with tips and ideas”, says Alexander Verbiest, who is one of the coordinators, together with Zofia Laine and Riccard Slettengren Badiali. Their first advice for newcomers is simple. Join the Student Union and keep a close eye on the website, www.sus.su.se, to keep track of all upcoming activities and programs. If you want to get involved a little extra in the Student Union, you can apply to become an International Student Ambassador and help creating activities, participate in events, advertise, write blogs and

Fortunately this is something the international coordinators can help you with. “In the buddy program we team up Swedish with international students. The Swedish students can guide around Stockholm or just become a friend to hang out with”, says Riccard. It’s not all about the newcomers

This semester you can look forward to guided tours, interesting visits and great club nights. “And don’t miss the traditional Swedish Crayfish Party. You get to drink schnapps, wear strange hats and sing strange songs – in Swedish”, says Zofia. You can find more information about activities on the website and on the column to the right.

Buddy Mingle MEET AND GREET Time and place TBA

The deadline for applying to the Buddy Program is set to September the 9th. When the matching is done, there will be a mingle for the international and the Swedish students.

Högskolerestauranger AB (HÖRS) – (Food Chain) HÖRS is a small chain of student cafeterias currently operating in several Swedish towns as well as at Stockholm University and KTH. HÖRS operate three niches: Lantis, Café Prego and Jalla gatmat.

Campusbutiken AB – (Book Store) Campusbutiken is the Student Union’s own book store for second hand books, but will also from time to time purchase larger stocks of books or office supplies. Here you can buy cheap second hand course

AB Frescatihallen – (Gym) At Frescatihallen you’ll have access to low cost workouts, sports, a gym, spinning, group training, soccer, badminton, tennis and floor hockey. The workouts are organized by Stockholms studenters idrottsförening (SSIF). SSIF provide a wide array of physical activities like yoga, dancing or body combat.
