Welcome to the 32nd Far East Football Tournament! Dear participants, dear friends, On behalf of the German All Stars Bangkok, we warmly welcome you to the 32nd Far East Football Tournament! We're very proud to salute yet another record-high of 40 teams participating in this year's competitions. The two-day event has undoubtedly become the highlight in the international football calendar in Thailand and throughout Asia. Next to teams from Thailand, the German All Stars are happy to welcome friends from Singapore, China, UAE, Malaysia, France, England, Switzerland, Vietnam and many more. It's also great to see that the majority of teams have participated for many yearsand visit us again in 2014. At the same time, we're happy to meet new teams competing in the tournament for the first time. Hartwig Schüler, President of German All Stars Bangkok: "It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 32nd edition of the International Football Tournament 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand. As every year, 2013 was a wonderful event and a major success for our beautiful game. This success story we want to continue for a very long time to come. Since 32 years many people give countless hours of their free time to organize this event and my cordial thanks going to all involved in the long history of this tournament. Last but not least my sincere condolences go to the friends and family of all those who have lost loved ones in this past year especially to one our longtime friend, member and supporter Knut Baschab. RIP. Now let us look forward and enjoy a weekend of football, fun and friendship." The tournament includes different game types (11-a-side and 7-a-side) as well as different age categories with separate competitions for players above 35 and 45. Next to some high-quality amateur football, visitors can join free of charge and enjoy a full program of entertain-ment, live music by the popular Big Boy Band and – most importantly – German culinary delights. With 2-day catering provided by local German restaurants, we can all look forward to German specialties and German beer throughout the event. This year, participants can also show off their skills in our Goal in the Hole competition and win some amazing prizes worth over 65,000THB! Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank all sponsors, voluntary helpers, as well as the referees who all helped to realize this event in the first place. We wish the best of luck to all teams, look forward to see fair sports and wish you all a great time! With sporty regards on behalf of the GAS BKK, Jens D. The Organisation Team

The Saigon Hotshots are now in its 3rd year as a club and our 3rd year in BKK, as a team the previous 2 years we had slipped under the radar. This year Hotshots, being the defending champions, will be approaching this tournament with a new tactic. (simply drink less) There is no doubt our noisy neighbours The Saigon Saints, will do everything in their power to ruin any hopes of us doing well. Previous years have included Hotshots players being sent into a state of comatose, uniforms being defaced and even stealing property. That said we wouldn't have it any other way. Representing this team will be our local keeper Viet 'oooooooohhhhh' Trung, an outstanding keeper that has yet to take part in any of our international tournaments where Antoine 'le hero' Leporc has filled in. This is a touchy topic. Feel free to ask Antoine any question you have regarding this. He will be the one shouting in French and running very fast down the right wing. Last year Antoine was donned with the name "le hero". We were outplayed by Finexsys in the semifinal but somehow managed to hold off for a penalty shootout where Antoine made an incredible save to put us in the final. He became an instant legend. Unfortunately he then decided to leave us and join Olympique De Saigon. A decision he is surely regretting… Then comes the father figure of the group Loic 'never getting old' Deleplace. Now at the young tender age of 48th, Loic refuses to be drafted in the Veterans .A true gentleman on and off the field makes him Mr nice guy in our team. Drafted in from Olympique De Saigon, Zach 'would love to be a Hotshot' Blondeau will be a great addition to the hotshots back 4. He is joining the hotshots as unfortunately his own team are in disarray these days and can't get enough people together to join the tournament… Another drafted player is Tahar. A chance meeting through a friend of a friend on a beach in Malaysia, Tahar came into the team last year and tells everyone he is the reason we won. After inviting some of the hotshots players to join his team in Phuket he has a lot of making up to do…

The Cup Holders!

Tristan is also a new member to the team and has been a good addition. He has some good connections in Saigon so if you are ever in Saigon he is your man. He will be occupying the left side of the field. Also supporting the defensive line is our very own "Beau Garcon". A very handsome young lad, previously living in Saigon and is joining us from the Philippines. Ladies Stay away Nico has called shot-

The German All Stars Bangkok football club was founded in 1968 when G端nter Glomb started his 17-year-long tenure as head coach of the Thai National team. Besides Mr Glomb's third place at the Asian Championships in 1972, his legacy in form of the German All Stars remains until today. The club was a founding member of the Bangkok Casual League and has just won the Division 2 championship title in the previous season. Sadly, coach Wolf who contributed a lot to the promotion and many other successes previously ended his 'career' as coach of the Casuals team. We want to also use this chance to again thank Wolf for his time as coach and are always happy to welcome him back as spectator when time allows. The Casuals team is currently in a very decent midfield position in division 1 and will most likely reach the season objective to stay away from the relegation spots. Despite the long history of the club, the German All Stars are anything but old-fashioned. The team consists of all ages and nationalities. With an average of 60% Germans, the club is particularly proud to welcome team mates of any age, having any skills, from any country, playing in any position. The majority of players are expatriates living and working (or studying) in Thailand with all sorts of different nationalities including players from Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina, Spain, and - of course - Thailand! Besides the weekly trainings, league- and cup matches on weekends, the annual Far East Football Tournament is the absolute highlight for everyone. The whole team is looking forward to compete and enjoy a brewed beverage with all teams afterwards.

BANGKOK COSMOS FC FC

Bangkok Cosmos Football Club was founded in 2001 by a group of Swiss and American friends to play in the International League in Bangkok. The league was comprised of expat teams from each of the major footballing nations such as England, Germany, Italy, France and Japan. Cosmos FC was formed to provide players from smaller footballing nations a chance to play at the highest amateur level in Bangkok. Over the past decade the team has had players from 7 nations of Europe, 6 nations of the Americas, 4 nations of Asia and 3 nations of Africa. The team prides itself on its diverse background as well as its competitive and social atmosphere.

The impressive twelfth century Angkorian "Bayon" Temple lends its name to this elegant team, which was established exactly 19 years ago. The strength of the Angkorian Empire is reflected in the depth of this team's character. The beauty and elegance of the temples is noticeable in the poise and grace with which they take to the field and is clearly seen in their flowing passes and general movement around the pitch. However, if the team doesn't get what it wants, the horrific brutality of the ancient Khmer kings is clearly evident in their violent and erratic behavior on the pitch. Bayon are led by their coach, good-old Billy "the Hat". If the Bayon players are in the mood, they will show his unique brand of total football, developed in his youth, around the time of Jayavarman VII. He intends to pass this on to all his players, who will try to write history in Bangkok. The Bayon Wanderers F.C. is a real team of "Wanderers" as the players are coming from all directions of this earth-ball. At the moment there are 19 different nationalities playing in the club coming from all continents in the world. The team heading for Bangkok exists out of a mix of young and old warriors. However, the last couple of years the Bayon Wanderers FC with the reputation to have female players in the team will show up this year again without their female players. Participating in the Bangkok Far East International Football Tournament is a huge honor for all Bayon players and they will try to perform on their best. The expectations for a good result are very high and these players will try their best to reach the highest‌ to take the Cup home for this very first time!

B52 CARNEGIES FC Tapei - Taiwan

After last year's debacle where the team drastically underperformed the year has been spent looking for the type of drinker that can do the orange and black colours proud. Some success has been found on this front. The new recruits have proven themselves to party hard with the bonus of being able to play a bit of football. Most of the squad have spent a few days at the sleepy resort of Pattaya to acclimitaze to the conditions in order to prepare for the tournament. This year there will be no excuses for underachieving. Watch this space. The team line up is as follows Mike Corsini - GK - Flying in from HK. Good with his hand (and nothing else) so the ladies say. Let's hope he uses them on the pitch. Chappy - Been compared to Scholes. He thinks it's for his footballing skills, The truth is he's ugly, old, fails with the women and hails from Salford like the Ginger Genius. Xavi - Same name as the Barcelona Magician. Like Messi not having the best season. Rumour has it this could be his last tour. He won't be missed! Russ Curtis - Carnegies player of the tournament last year. Enough said. We were that bad! Edwin Lee - Flying in from San Diego. A die hard Carnegies man. Don't expect a game! Franky Mosnier - Good footballer, better drinker. Thrives in BKK and will be causing mayhem. Bookies favourite to get arrested or molested! Damian Cozzolino - The team's Adebayor. Lazy and arrogant with flashes of genius. Knows how to enjoy himself. Back again for more delights. Bryan Baird - Actually a good player. Wasted on Carnegies. We ll trade him for a crate of Singha's though we want him back for the party. Mirko - German Engineering at its best.Solid, reliable and does a great job at the back. Smart too. He's brought his wife to keep him focused! Nick S - Got good feet some carrying so much timber. Italian/American so thinks he's good with the ladies. Bit of advice, chat up lines don't work. Up there with Franky as the team's biggest pisshead. Ian T - Don't let his appearance deceive you. He is a deviant! Smart player though. Works hard, creates chances for himself and usually scores. As a footballer though he has a lot to learn. Omer - This is his first overseas tournament so we ll see his true colors. Loves football, booze, partying and women so there should be fireworks. Carlos Rios - Goes by the name CR11. Some similarities do exist though they are best not mentioned here. Will be an asset to the team. He's bringing the kit!

FORBIDDEN CITY FC - China Despite being Champions of Beijing's top amateur league (a few years ago...), Forbidden City asks just a few simple questions during recruitment - Do you have an unlimited self-belief in your own ability, despite your bodies deteriorating evidence to the contrary? Are you able to give that extra 10% when your bowels are almost prolapsing? and Do you mind taking a look at that photo and telling me if I should get that looked at? If you know how to answer these questions, feel happy that if you ever have the misfortune of moving to Beijing, there is a family waiting to give your a figurative hug and a literal spooning. With as friendly and open a mentality as that, is it any wonder we are back at the Far East Football Tournament 2014 for the 3rd Year running, to spread the love, amongst other things?! With a line up of seasoned Thai tour pros, 2nd year returnees, and a couple of new tour virgins, levels of confidence, testosterone and smegma are sky high! This years line-up: Crouchy - Too English for Beijing, too belligerent for England. Claims he is a day trader, but actually inflates marquees for a living. Del-Boy for Eng-ger-lund. Curran - This wannabe Argentinian-looking Australian ĂŠmigrĂŠ spends his work-time in Chinese miners and his free time inside the Netherlands. Dorey - The rejected sibling of Toronto's infamous Mayor, Dorey provided him the crack cocaine that gave Canada its first ever newsworthy story. He teaches small children at a local school in his spare time. Fitz - Owing to a little-known rule that a Hasidic Jew cannot say no to a woman after sun down on a Friday, his gf will be joining him in Bangkok. He'll be losing more than just his foreskin if she gets a whiff of his pre-arrival antics! George - This albino Nigerian recently had his first role as the lead in '12 years a slave'. His wife denies this but the scars give it away. He is hoping competition winnings can pay off his bond. Guthrie - When he is not getting locked up for drunken disorderly, this stud is so busy having threesomes with women from lesser-know parts of the EU, he doesn't even have time to clean his bed. Healey - With just one more year before he may be turned into cat food, this Corsican love child is looking to go all the way this year, both on and off the pitch. Lakatos - After his Japanese gf escaped his cellar and returned to Japan, his Mum felt sorry for him so offered up her only Asian friend as a sacrificial bang. Switzerland's Fritzl is back! Lupton - Some lucky woman will receive money otherwise earmarked for a dubious Russian oil investment and a torched steak, 'a la Anglais'. Lupton made the right choice. Merlone - This entrepreneurial Italian reverted to alcoholism after his only ever girlfriend wound up in a Baltimore prison in a straightjacket. Beer drowns sorrows, plus you make a profit! Spaghet-tiiii! McCluckie - Paid British Chinese cockle-picking people smugglers money to get INTO China. Is now trying to ingratiate himself with FCFC for protection. Muhl - Fed up with the laxity of Chinese narcotics officials, Muhl emigrated to Saudi Arabia for an adrenaline rush. He also teaches small children at a local school in his spare time. Russell - Having been 'rendered' by a rival team at the end of last year's tournament, this innocent, tender young man has escaped the jungles of Vietnam and is looking to fall in love for the second time. Sheffield - As Beijing breathes a sigh of relief from this resident sociopathic sex pest, I offer a word of warning to anyone in Thailand using Craigslist - he is NOT German, he is NOT a businessman and he DOES think its a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking. Tissot - Tinder's fast-rising superstar, this watch brand billionaire heir can't hold down a girlfriend to save his life. 'Swiping right' has just never been so fun. Williams - Ever the romantic, Williams used his missus as an interpreter when asking her father whether he could marry her. The answer came back negative before interpretation took place. Don't see your name on this list?! Call 1-800-Tough-Shit! Klass - The heart of Beijing's most talked about love triangle, this serial man-eater is looking to add another meat slice to his man sandwich. Neutonboom - When he is not smuggling scat porn from Holland's red light district into China, 'Da Boom' can be found at any one of Beijing's infamous club nights, peddling scat porn.

Londoner FC - Bangkok

This vibrant and diverse group of 'has been's' and 'what if 's' represent Londoner FC, based in Bangkok, Thailand. The team is based out of The Londoner Brew Pub on Sukhumvit Soi 33, and is often found in the boozer more often than not. We participate primarily in the Bangkok Casuals League and other Bangkok based tournaments. The team has a good mix of older statesmen to mix in with a few younger players coming through the ranks. The team is mainly made up of English expats, mixed in with touch of Aussie, a few drops of Dutchman, a sprinkle of Japanese and a few local Thai's. The Londoner FC pride itself on a strategic possession game and movement off the ball to confuse and disrupt the opposition. Combine this with physicality and organization in defense, we do our best to come out with a victory! This of course all depends on how well the boys prepare, many of the squad have been known to pursue the nightlife and various pleasures Bangkok has to offer the average expat!! Captain of the team is none other than the man mountain himself Alex Stamp. The team is managed by Ryan Ollerton and Assistant Manager Billy Osborne. Squad and squad numbers: Pete Smith Ryan Ollerton Craig Massey Alex Stamp Danai Downer Harry Barnard Jon Grant Kalle Siebring Yuya Osanai Billy Osborne Sam Betts Tommy Almond Alex Dufaye Chris Duffin Jakawan (Pek) Subchart Rene Galante Gavin Fausset

SWISS FC - Singapore Swiss FC is once again happy to participate in the GAS Bangkok Easter tournament. As the (only?) quintuple champion of this prestigious event we always look forward to an enjoyable weekend in Bangkok. After a disappointing exit in 2013 we have planned our 2013/2014 with the aim to peak in Bangkok. The first half of the season in the domestic Cosmo League was rather disappointing and we found ourselves in the last third of the table. However, a strong start into 2014 allowed the team to climb up the table and at the time of writing we are right smack in the middle of the table. We hope that we can carry the momentum all the way to Bangkok! As always, the team has undergone significant changes, both in terms of squad and management. But we continue to have a good mix of old and young and have also mixed up the nationalities: the team now consists of players from Switzerland (still the majority!), Norway, Germany (or is it Austria?), the United States (despite all the pressure of the US government on the Swiss banks!), Italy (or is it the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland?), Luxembourg, Canada/Nigeria, Japan, Cyprus and Mauritius. Truly a mini United Nations! While the UN may be considered by many as a toothless debating club, we intend to take action on the pitch! We thank GAS Bangkok for organizing the event, which undoubtedly will be a memorable weekend once again! Swiss FC Singapore

Lock up your daughters, lock up your wives, lock up your back doors and run for your lives, because the boys are back in town! That's right baby, we're back. Vietnam Reunited are here for the birds, the booze, the parties and the occasional football match. In the absence of Ben 'Peado' Peadon, David 'Rosie' Rosenberg will be leading Vietnam Reunited on their march for glory and debauchery this year, like a young Arsene Wenger, he gives very little tactical advice but keeps a firm hand on the purse strings. Vietnam Reunited are still on the lookout for a keeper, but all you other teams can be sure that this fella will be an absolute Cat so expect clean sheets the whole tournament. Patrolling the 18 yard box in front of him will be Fred 'Putain de merde' Auvinet, our token French player, and Sam 'fast learner' Morley. If brains were made of chocolate, these two couldn't fill an m&m between them. At left back, we have Rowan 'baldo' Gill who never gives up, despite numerous requests from the Reunited. On the right we have the French spy, Ian Pavitt(e), terrible spy, decent footballer. Utility man and Swiss-German rapper Stephan Geissbuhler is sure to shake things up either through football or a drive by. Staring down the forwards as sweeper will be Ari 'the crowbar', a man so scary apparently he made a herd of horses faint just by looking them in the eye. Lording it in the centre circle will be Erdem 'Donner Meat' Kara; as well as an excellent passing ability; Donner reads the gamebrilliantly, like a young Islamic Alex Ferguson. Partnering Erdem in the middle is a man of mystery and power, JR, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery. Galloping up the left will be Roel 'the Gazelle' Borremans, full backs beware! On the right, not so much galloping as floundering, will be David 'Rosie' Rosenberg. Not terribly fast but often beats his defender down the line by a nose. Returning to the Saints after a tumultuous stay in England, is the high honourable judge Adam 'the Hatchett' Smith, if he doesn't get you on the pitch, he'll get you in the court room after. Possibly competing in his last competitive match for Reunited is Mark 'Rapid Fire 2.0' Harbison, he's found it hard to replace Richie B both footballing wise and professionally. Making their Vietnam Reunited debut will be Jamie, Thomas and Emre. Emre, a former colleague of Erdem, when they worked in Erdem's Donner Palace is a nifty winger who likes to cut inside and beat his man. Jamie and Thomas are twin brothers who grew up separately and have only recently discovered each other. Interesting fact - they are the first set of twins ever to play for the Vietnam Reunited. Playing in the number 10 role is Rich 'Spectacular Own Goal' Langley who will be shimmying, ducking, jumping and swaying his way round Bangkok. No strikers so far, but we're in talks with Stoke to get Michael Owen on loan, positive signs at the moment pending a medical. O when the Saints come marching in!

Red Star KL - Malaysia ts s! e V er e ld h T Ho p u C Will they retain the title? Do they have any new signings? Will they be wearing ladies underwear on Sunday? and……are they too old for a soapy? These and many other burning questions will be answered as once again as these ageing and delusional lotharios, all errrr legendary Red Starite superheroes to a man, trot out on to the hallowed Bangkok turf. Equipped with nothing more than hope, mouldy shin pads and a family pack of Viagra means there ready to bring the title home ...again! > Gordon ‘The Guvnor’ Sutton aka The Return of the King, rumoured to be replacing Moyes at Old Trafford this tactical genius was missing last year owing to his on/off ‘bromance’ with Sam Allardyce, which ment Red Star struggled so much they errrrrr won the trophy!! Luckily he now has a short window in his schedule for a final ‘fling’ in Bangkok with his beloved Red Star! > Pelle, why so serious’ Aardewerk, taught Dennis Bergkamp everything he knows ...about embroidery? Flowing hair and a deft touch means they’ll be singing from the windmills and giving free flow Edam once this pacey winger gets his clogs in gear. > Rob, ‘its not about the pies’ Davies. Mild mannered utility player lacking in (real) hair and pretty much everything else ...but touch his steak and kidney and he’ll ram the ball anywhere you want it, just don’t mention Ginsters or Cornish Pasty when he’s man(ly) marking you. > Richard ‘slugger’ Sandall, the crown prince of happy endings returns with his jar of old spice and a bottle of baby Johnson to run riot pretty much everywhere except the goal mouth. Looking to break his own world record of 497 massages over the three day tournament, Lady Boys beware! > Mark ‘don’t put ice in my drink’ Hemstedt, still at the tournament, still single, still paying over inflated bar ines, still right about everything, still upsets goalkeepers and bar girls for fun and well ‘still’ on the pitch. Rumoured to be actually slower and more injury prone than Andy Carroll now ...no really!. > Nick ‘closet’ Norton, shock return for Red Star of this lethal striker, after he disappeared in 1998, last seen entering a wardrobe in a Cambodian brothel? Thought to have spent the last 16 years in Narnia dating Prince Caspian whilst working on his latest novel… ”The Lion, The Nick and The Wardrobe.” > Stephen ‘snooker’ Paterson, Lord Lucan esque, mysterious midfield enigma who’s laid on more balls than Joan Collins. Expect to find him in unusual positions all over the pitch …ney Bangkok. > Glen ‘let me talk you through my goal’ Heywood, already received a telegram from the Queen, he’s older and slower than Dame Judy Dench but expect this British institution to be in and around the box looking for a tap in or two…..If you’ve got a few days to kill and suffer from insomnia ask him about his ‘freak’ penalty injury and he’ll zzzzzzzzzzz…….. > Chris ‘Mandela’ Neoh, this Leadership legend could convince France to import croissants and actually attack someone! Don’t be fooled by his humble, mild mannered and easy going approach, the current free kick coach for Ronaldo and Bale, sprint coach for Theo Walcott, will turn on a dime, slam it in the top corner and probably have one thing to say at half time. > Jason ‘skippy’ Flanagan, known on Bondi as the ‘wizard of Oz’ because you never know when the magic’s gonna happen? You won’t tie Jason’s ‘kangaroo down’ as he waltzes Matilda like in to the box VB in hand and produces a goal (and BBQ) out of nothing. “No worries mate!” > Has ‘bull ah’ Hafiz, the ‘Bull’ is horny and smelly and he hasn’t even left the airport yet. Rumoured to be replacing Joe Hart at Manchester City even though he’s never woken up with, I mean kept a ‘clean sheet’. Expect him to be erect between the sticks as he tickles the ball hither and tither… Yup they’ll be more drama than Shakespeare as the Red Starites weave their magic up and down Soi Cowboy entertaining all and sundry with their legendary ball skills and gaily coloured underwear. It really doesn’t get and bigger!!

FINEXSYS FC - Malaysia

This will be Finexsys FC's fourth consecutive year of participation in this great tournament. The experience of the past three years has made us wiser. We are now wise enough to know that the open category is too hard for our more mature players. So, this year, we are cashing in our pensions, making the long journey back to Bangkok, and stepping up to the challenge of competing in the Veterans Over-35 7-a-side category for the first time. We hope to meet old friends and play in some competitive matches. And we are looking to make new acquaintances and arrange tours and friendly matches anywhere in South East Asia for the rest of 2014 and beyond. So, I hope you will join us in the fun that is the German All Stars' Bangkok Far East Football Tournament - both on and off the field. Just ask our coach. His tactical instructions are: "Go out there and enjoy your football!" That is advice all our players take to heart, combining their holidays with their love of football.

The German All Stars Veterans take part in the monthly Vets Tournament held every first Sunday of the month in Bangkok. Despite being the oldest and maybe heaviest team in most of the tournaments, the Vets have been quite successful and, for sure, always have lots of fun on and besides the pitch. The team also regularly joins other tournaments in Bangkok and throughout Asia. The annual trip to Manila is just one of the activities. Just like their younger colleagues in the Casuals team, the veterans are particularly proud to have team members from around the world and welcome anyone who is interested to join. The Far East Football Tournament is always a big highlight in the calendar and our Vets team looks forward to meet old friends (both figuratively and literally). The sesaon 2013/2014 started with the win of the Vets Tournament in September 2013 and the team achieved silverware in all other Vets Tournament in the current season. Sadly we were not able to catch the first place again, but several plates and shields were won as well as another 3rd place. In the yearly Tournament at the Swiss school in Bangkok we finished as runner-ups and during our trip to Manila we made it to the quarterfinal only to be eliminated by the winning team from Hong Kong. Besides playing football, the German All Stars Bangkok players, family members, friends, sponsors and supporters are engaged in many social activities e.g. a yearly Christmas Party, a number of yearly BBQs and since 2013 also the first ever "Beer Run" in Thailand.

HIBERNIANS FC - Singapore

"After several years of entering the GAS Easter tournament in Bangkok, the Hibs gladiators did bid farewell to their historic tour leader Jon Westerby in 2012 and in came Triple F: not French Football Federation but F...g French Fashionista JC. In true catwalk colours and piqued by the challenge, he introduced a modern spin to our tour souvenir with ready-to-wear bicolor, emblazoned, blazers (hmm Jean-Paul Gaultier was not available for the tailor-made ones). True we had looked at staging a revenge of sort between our own HK-grown Tunners and that famous Italian pizzaiolo tattooed-striker of 2 years ago, but none of them eventually showed up so, with no expletive battle to laugh at and with a nice roll of the dice, we resorted to settle for the honours of edging out competition, including our Sunday morning victors flung from afar Switzerland, into winning the bowl on well-calculated GD. Which after much banter, philosophical conjectures around how to improve our club football performances etc on Sunday evening at the reclusive post-tournament conference missed by pretty much all accredited journos, our own enthusiastic and football passionaria 'Handsome' Dave (Dave H it is) managed to break one of the fragile trophy glorious wings. But we still took it home to our sponsors Muddy Murphy's in Singapore. Well this year we shall try to make it shine through our boots again, and certainly the off-pitch booze as always, with also some help from our very own glories of yesteryear (well only in Hibs legend though), with gritty veterans Paul G and hopefully Jim Mc P flying in especially from chilly Europe on this occasion. Yes we do regularly call up from remote parts of the world, say Handsome Dave from Cabinda for one (a modern equivalent, split country-geography speaking, to West Berlin of yore when the Wall was still there albeit less the art culture, food, socialites, and pretty much whatever civilized urban world normally has to offer). And what, who knows our honorary lifetime-members will join (yes Hibs now have their own lifetime-members although they do not show their age seeing how they still run with gusto). Up the Hibbees!"

MALAYSIAN GRASSHOPPERS Kuala L umpur

The Malaysian Grasshoppers were formed in 1993 predominantly for the German speaking community in Kuala Lumpur. The basis of the team was to play hard and even socialize harder. Over the Years die MG's have become international in nature and have to welcomed many local Malaysians to play with them, but the hard-core is still German speaking. The Name Grasshoppers emanates from the Swiss team Grasshoppers Zurich, and the MG's have tried in vain over the years to match their illustrious European counterparts for style and quality. Nevertheless, win or lose the MG's have Premier league status when it comes to the 'third half' with many players shining more in the bar than in the box. The future looks bright for the Malaysian Grasshoppers. The Numbers players continues to increase, the standard of play improves with every Weissbeer consumed. Until today, the MG's are group of friends who have the excuse of playing football every Saturday to have a beer after the game and laugh.

SPARTANS FC - Hong Kong

Baker Tilly Wanchai Spartans HK, chomping at the bit, are back to compete in the prestigious Bangkok Tournament once again. This year we have left all the fat lads at home & have a fitter more leaner & elegant team hoping to get past the first game without any casualties. Wanchai Spartans have evolved in Hong Kong over the years to several competitive teams & are currently competing @ the top of various leagues from the Yau Yee & Legal League, but once again the usual old boys who have been attending tournaments for far too many years are to step up & compete once again! So with the invite to continue to show our prowess on the field and staying power through the weekend, which still may remain to be proven by a sprinkling of "tour virgins",we jumped at the chance to attend. The Spartans spirit still remains the same, a social bunch of multi national (English, Scottish, Australian, South African, American & even some French....Yes I know, we have also gained the services of a couple of Manc scally's who return after a decade away, we will be looking at surviving the weekend unscathed on the pitch, off it, well that's a different matter! May I also Thank again the organisers for all their hard work every year in running the best football tour in Asia. Have a great weekend Baker Tilly Wanchai Spartans (Vets)

Vietnam Reunited Masters are returning to Bangkok again this but this time with the support of our younger brethren who I am sure will sweep everything before them and leave it to us more mature players to do the right thing and go for the wooden spoon! Our collection ranges of rag tags that are based in from Manila, London, Sydney, Beijing, Thailand, Taipei and Saigon but the one thing in common is they have played their expat football in Vietnam in the past and this is the chance to Reunite, both on and off the field during a splendid weekend in the City of Angels. The above photo in no way reflects the talent on the field but it's the only one I got! Having not got much time to write more before Jens kills me I would just like to say we look forward to taking part again and a big thanks to the GAS for organizing a great tournament. V O O D OO F.C. - Shanghai For nearly a decade the Voodoo F.C. of Shanghai have attempted to make a go at playing a proper brand of football. As the years have passed, and the job market outside of China wanes, it has begun to look more like a geriatric hospital than a football team. But, hey, it’s all about the banter rather than football, no? Average age - 34. In 2006, the Voodoo made a bold move, had a one night stand on Burgos street, and nine months later the Voodoo Child was born in the summer of 2007. Led by some of the finest men and footballers in China, the Voodoo Child captures the spirit of its fearless leaders Ian Dixon and David Roberts. At 50 years young, Ian Dixon is an anomaly of the sporting world. It is with his passion that the Voodoo Child’s "burning Ring of fire", well, still burns! With occasional years of brilliance, and save the hand of Alla in the waning seconds of a league final, the Voodoo Child and Voodoo battle it out week in and week out on the pastures of Tianma Shan in the most competitive league in all of Asia, the SIFL. All you underachievers, be ready for the Voodoo. This year’s tournament also sees a selection of reprobates hanger-on-ers, and drinkers from the mighty Sam Woollard’s official stag party. Expect a large support, an occasional howl and Sam fast asleep in the fetal position by the side-netting.

BCCT BANGKOK ANGELS BCCT Bangkok Angels return to the old farts competition at the INTERNATIONAL FARE EAST FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT after a break last year (we weren't invited). This year the Stasi organisers cunningly tracked this scribe down by sending him an email. Tricky buggers, the Germans. Clearly the long list of other teams had turned down their invitation to participate. So here we are - a finely tuned, multi-national and well-rounded group of old gits who play football every Monday evening in Bangkok - the older we are, the better we were. There are few team photos of the Bangkok Angels. This was the best that I could find. Let's see if we can get away with 11 players in a 7-a-side competition. Anyway, these are the Angels who have not yet said 'no':NEIL TORRANCE - quiet unassuming sweaty-sock shot-stopper. In his youth was at Motherwell under Ian St. John there must be a law against that! Not yet confirmed - there's still hope... STEVE KERR - the man with no team: Glasgow Rangers supporter. Never happy unless he's whinging. Used to be a striker but it's just too far to walk all that way up front now. Played some decent football in his time, he says. TERRY BOULTON - cultured Goonercentre-half. Won more footballing trophies than Ryan Giggs.Plays in open tournaments as the last minute substitute - time enough to get his hands on the trophy, usually with Cosmos. JASON SORE - chip off the old block. Old-style centre-half. In a tackle, the ball is an optional extra. Gets a nose-bleed when he crosses the half-way line.Nocturnal crooner - or is that his dad? JASON DINSDALE - handsome left footer and a Villa supporter. Always scores one screamer in tournaments but ratio of shots to goals increasing. Will keep the ball-boys busy. ESA HEISKANEN - chain-smoking flying Finn full-back. Runs around like a teenager but is actually 73. Mad as a box of frogs! Another Cosmos regular. CHRIS HUGHES - the quiet man of the team. Well-respected ginger - a cross between Billy Bremner and coco the clown.Good shot with both feet - often at the same time. JULIAN BUTCHER - the Butcher of Bangkok. Watch out for Julian. Runs all-day, everywhere but no-one really knows where he plays. PATRICK MENHORN - Swiss newspaper boy. Runs far too much. Often falls over. We keep telling him. Has now reached an age when he should be slowing down. PAUL FRAIN - not much known about Paul. Recommended by Esa - not a good start! Plays regularly and won the 2013 Bangkok Masters with Cosmos last year. DANIEL POOLE - what can anyone say about him that hasn't already been said? The Angels are paying the Stasi to keep Daniel on the microphone. GREG WATKINS - more than 20 kilos in Thailand. Maturing gracefully like a vat of wine. Engaged in a life-long quest to avoid anorexia.Had to organize his own tournament so he could carry on playing. The chances of all these lads turning up for the first game are slim so expect some last minute replacements.

BANGKOKHOSPITAL GERIATRICS Thailand

Bangkok Hospital Geriatrics has thrown away the walkers and hearing aids (or maybe we just forgot where we put them). We are now once again ready to compete in the tournament exclusively for the real grown-ups.This is our second time and we are actually amazed to show off a team with so many new hips and knees. Well, considering our lack of short term memory, we are always amazed. Are you dehydrated, yet peeing all night? Do you bring your pyjama pants when asked to bring along a stool and urine sample? Well we do‌.. and please help us if we do not remember, why we are actually there. Meet the team, hang out and laugh with us while we try to remember to tie our shoes.

Three months ago I had 10 lads at Nomads all planning how to come to Bangkok and leave with a trophy whether won on the park or nicked ;-) (eh Albie). Of course with all the best thought out plans, it has completely fallen apart and at time of writing we currently have 3 intending to go on tour, one from Manila, one from the UK and one from Malaysia. So obviously we will be asking anyone who looks over 45 and vaguely like a Footballer to come and play for us…even Philippe might get a start. As an organizer of 3 major competitions myself in Manila I know the about of amount of work that goes into organizing and running a tournament and I’d like to wish the organizers all the best in terms of a successful tournament which I’m sure it will be.

Rules of Competition 2014 In general, all FIFA rules apply to this Tournament. Major exceptions and clarifications are described below. In line with officially practiced FIFA rules, the Referee’s decisions are final. No one shall dispute his decisions in any way, on or off the field during the Tournament. There will be only one Referee during each match. In short, 32nd Bangkok Far East Football Tournament will have a “no-age-limit”, “11-a-side”, “11-a-half”, “full-field”, “no-offside”, “rolling-subs”, and “yellow-card-sitout-the-half” format Tournament and a “over 35-age-limit”, “7-a-side”, “7-a-half”, “half-field”, “no-offside”, “rolling-subs”, and “yellow-card-sit-out-the-half” format Tournament. This Tournament will be played on a natural-grass pitch according to FIFA rules. This year, all matches shall be played at Bangkok Patana School, Sukhumvit Soi 105, Bangkok, Thailand during the Easter weekend of 19th & 20th of April 2014. The participating teams shall be divided into “X” groups of “X” teams for the round-robin Group Phase matches. The Groups Draw shall take place during the Captain’s Meeting on 18th April 2014, the Good Friday night before the Tournament, at Old German Bierhaus (Sukhumvit Soi 11) Players shall be allowed to play for more than one (1) team in the entire Tournament, if and only if the Captains of the two (2) relevant teams and the Player who is switching teams agree to it. According to FIFA rules, shin-guards are mandatory equipment. In the Group Phase, each team shall be awarded with three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw, and zero (0) point for a loss. In addition, one (1) - and, only one (1) - extra bonus point shall be rewarded to the winning team that can score three (3) or more goals in one (1) match. This means a maximum of four (4) points per match for any winning team. All matches shall be played according to the Tournament Schedule as announced by the organizers during the captain’s meeting. Any team arriving more than five (5) minutes late after the scheduled kick-off time of their match shall be considered forfeiting the match with a score of 2-0 walk-over. The punctual team shall be awarded with two (2) goals and three (3) points. If both teams are late (usually Sunday early morning matches!), they shall both be penalized with a 2-0 loss. Match playing time will be announced by the organizers at the captain’s meeting. There shall be a short break between each half. However, for an added touch of suspense, the Final Matches in all competitions shall be played as a thirty (30) minute match of two (2) halves of fifteen (15) minutes with a five (5) minute half-time break. A team must have minimum seven (7) Players at the start of each of their matches; otherwise, the team shall be considered forfeiting the match with a score of 2-0 walk-over. The opponent team shall be awarded with two (2) goals and three (3) points accordingly. Unlimited rolling substitutions (“rolling-subs”) are allowed, and Players who are substituted are permitted to return to play at a later time within the same match or later matches. Substitutions shall be made as the two (2) playing teams see it fit without stopping the match. Since it is rolling-subs, the on-coming substitute shall exchange places with the out-going player at the same spot on the same sideline. In the interest of fairness and controlling rough tackles & late hits, any Player receiving a yellow card during either half of a match will be sent off, without being substituted, until the end of that half during that match (“yellow-card-sit-out-the-half”), leaving his team one (1) player less for the remaining minutes of that half. The yellow-carded Player shall be permitted to return to the same match in the 2nd half or play in his team’s next match. A Player with two (2) yellow-cards collected in one (1) match shall automatically be sent off, and is suspended for the next match. A direct red card shall also lead to an immediate send-off from the match as well as an automatic penalty of one (1) match suspension, with the possibility of further disciplinary action by the Organizing Committee. After all the round-robin matches in the Group Phase are completed the Organizing committee will announce the knock-out Elimination Phase games and schedule. The following four (4) criteria shall apply so as to decide the group rankings: [1] Goal difference, [2] Goals scored, [3] The score of the match between the deadlocked teams, [4] Sudden-death-penalty-shoot-out. The winning teams in all competitions shall continue on playing through their Quarter Finals, the Semi Finals and the Final. In case the teams draw at the end of the regulation time for the matches there shall be a penalty shoot-out immediately, without playing any extra time, following the match to decide the winner of the match. The following rules shall be observed for all the penalty shoot-outs in this Tournament: Before the shoot-out, each team shall select their initial three (3) penalty taking Players from within the entire roster of their squad, and register their names & numbers with the Referee. In case it is still a draw after the initial three (3) of each team, the winner shall be decided based on the sudden-death penalty shoot-out rule. In case it is still a draw after all the Players in either of the team’s roster have taken penalties, then the turn rotates and re-starts from the first (1st) Player in the initial three (3) penalty takers based on the sequence of Players and their shirt numbers as recorded by the Referee. The goalkeepers of the teams during the penalty shoot-outs can be chosen from any Player within the entire roster of their squad; however, (barring a serious injury situation) teams shall not change goalkeepers during the middle of a particular penalty shoot-out. The winner of the Final Matches (whether in regulation time or after a possible penalty shoot-out) in all of the competitions shall be declared as the champions of their respective competitions; whilst, of course, the winner of the Cup Competition being the Tournament Champion. Any event not covered above shall be discussed and decided by the Organizing Committee of German All Stars Bangkok during the 2-day Tournament in consultation with the Referees Committee. Inevitably, but authoritatively, their decisions are final..! As always, best of luck to all the teams!

REST IN PEACE KNUT

The German All Stars received sad news of the passing away of Knut at the age of 75. Knut has always been close to the German All Stars even since the time of the club's founding. Until Knut moved to Phuket, his bar also served as club house for GAS. Knut will not only be missed by the entire German All Stars family, but by football friends from all around South East Asia. On behalf of the German All Stars, we wish strength to Knut's family to bear this immense loss.
