Die Kunst von Daniel Harms (*1980 in Hamburg, seit 2007 in Berlin ansässig) ist inspiriert von vielen Quellen. Auch wenn man vor seinen Bildern zunächst den Eindruck hat, dass Harms‘ Bildsprache dem Graffiti und dem Comic nahesteht, so sind es doch vor allem Bezüge zur Bildenden Kunst, die zur Stilistik seiner Werke beigetragen haben. Seine Bilder entstehen hauptsächlich aus Acryl- und Ölfarben. „Die magische Kraft der Bilder der Dresdner Brücke-Künstler fasziniert ihn, ‚ihre Unbekümmertheit und Unverfälschtheit‘. Die Detailfülle der Kunst von Daniel Harms gipfelt in Text-Einsprengseln, die eine tagebuchartige Grundierung […] bilden“ (Christoph Tannert). Aber auch Künstler wie Max Beckmann, Egon Schiele und Francis Bacon zählen zu seinen Vorbildern. Übergänge zwischen ‚High and Low‘ sind also charakteristisch für Daniel Harms‘ Kunst. Die Themen entwickelt der Künstler meist zyklenhaft. War, Rotkäppchen und Mirrors sind Beispiele für solche Zyklen, denen lange Recherchen vorausgehen. André Lindhorst
