Over 230 Cub Scouts ages 7 to 11 participated in the three-day 2014 Thunder Wolf District Day Camp hosted by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sienna Plantation. The "Cubs in Space" themed day camp provided scouts a first step in the camping progression, creating a place for Cub Scouts and Webelos to test themselves, do new activities, make new friends and learn something new. Campers had a choice of a variety of activities ranging from leather works, team sports, BB and archery target shooting for the scouting ranks of Tiger, Bear, Wolf and Webelo. These campers shown are learning how to properly fold the American Flag.

Heads up Sugar Land! What's the hottest thing in Sugar Land … again? The Sugar Land Citizen’s Fire Academy Alumni Association (CFAAA) is working with the Sugar Land firefighters to get out the sure-to-be-hot 2015 edition of their awesome calendar! Independent of the City of Sugar Land and the Sugar Land Fire Department (SLFD), the non-profit CFAAA is dedicated to supporting our local firefighters and their families by raising money throughout the year for programs such as a scholarship fund for our firefighters’ graduating senior children, Boots & Ladders which is dedicated to providing for in-need firefighters and their families, and others. The firefighters are buffing up, the CFAAA is lining up sponsors, the photographer is sizing up locations, and the printer is ready to go! Get a sneak peek and more during the Ft. Bend County Fair! Some of the sexiest men alive (that is, the Sugar Land firefighters featured in the 2015 calendar) will be manly manning a booth to autograph purchased calendars. James Fontenot

Long time sheriff’s deputy honored for his commitment to the citizens of Fort Bend County as a polygraph examiner. Lieutenant James Fontenot was recipient of 2014 Tim Kennedy Examiner of the Year Award; an award given to the top polygraph examiners in the state by the Texas Association of Law Enforcement Polygraph Investigators. Lieutenant Fontenot began his public service career in the US Army and Naval

Reserve. After 22 years he retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Mr. Fontenot, as he is known by his peers, joined the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. He began as a civilian detention officer while he was attending a law enforcement academy. Mr. Fontenot also served in the Patrol Division and Detective Divisions prior to moving to the Internal Affairs Division in 2006 where he became a polygraph examiner.
