environments to explore, we are located in an ideal location for rock pool rambling, seaweed scavenging and foreshore foraging, these sessions are designed to teach children the importance of conservation and preserving our environment. The sand dunes and woodland behind the beach provides many opportunities for roaming, play and exploration, here we run treasure trails, simple map making and map reading exercises where we can turn Enid Blytons famous five stories into a reality. > Understanding and making healthy choices: Getting the children involved in sharing and cooking food in the outdoors is a superb vehicle for learning and the food always tastes great! Examples of the culinary delights we may prepare can include trail breads with seaweed, packed with vital sources of vitamins and minerals, both delicious and nutritious. In this setting children quickly learn the value of dressing appropriately and how to risk assess for themselves.

LITERACY When in the great outdoors children are able to be creative when engaging in making sounds and letters and beginning to read and write; from drawing letters in the sand and mud to acting out woodland stories. MATHEMATICS The beach and forest provide an incredible natural space to begin counting and understanding numbers, shapes and measures; from a scavenger hunt to find objects to count to making tallies in the mud, patterns and shapes out of sticks and cones and understanding measures using the length of sticks and weight of logs. UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD Getting outdoors and into public spaces in the local community provide children with an opportunity to get to know their local environment. Using observation skills and seeing things grow, decay and change can increase their understanding of the world. There is also the inevitable  use of technology from magnifying glasses to simple woodcraft tools while exploring the beach and forest environment. EXPRESSIVE ART & DESIGN The great outdoors is an incredible environment to invoke creativity and imagination with the opportunity to explore an exciting space and

use a variety of media and materials; from using natural resources to mix mud pies, make art and craft or even musical instruments. The resources to be found and used in the outdoors leave the opportunity for children to be wildly creative, using finds to make dens to fishing rods. SAFETY Safety is our number one priority and we can guarantee that all our leaders are trained to industry standard best practice and hold National Governing body qualifications where applicable.
