NEHUNDREDYEARSAGO,onSeptember28, 1905. the first students arrived at Fordham Law School. When John ,: J. Collins, S.J., President of Fordham University, asked Paul , Francisco Fuller to establish a law school and become its first dean, Fuller drew on lessons learned from his remarkable life to build the school. Fuller was one of the great international lawyers of his generation, but as a child he had been a homeless orphan, living alone on the streets of New York. Having known isolation, he created a school that stressed community. Having known poverty, he created a school dedicated to opening doors and giving back. Having risen to the very top of the legal profession, he created a school committed to graduating lawyers who were skilled, ethical, and academically prepared for a lifetime of rigorous intellectual work in the law. Today, as it celebrates its centennial, Fordham Law School has a remarkable record of accomplistment. It is the 15th most selective law school in the country based on LSAT scores. Its students produce the seventh most cited law review in the nation, and Fordham's urban and international law journals are among the country's ten most cited specialty law publications. Fordham is nationally recognized for its outstanding moot court, trial advocacy, and negotiation teams. As members of the legal profession, Fordham graduates are highly valued: Fordham has more lawyers at the nation's 25 most successful law firms than all but four schools, and it has consistently produced some of the finest judges, public servants, academics, business leaders, and practicing lawyers in the nation. Its vibrant faculty of scholar-teachers profoundly 路 shapes legal discourse, and that faculty has created pathbreaking centers
in international human rights, European Union law, corporate law, law and religion, and ethics. Fordham Law's faculty and programs are ranked among the nation's finest in subjects that span the breadth of legal education-from constitutional law and business law to clinical education and alternative dispute resolution, from law and philosophy and legal history to international law and intellectual property law. Greatness in a law school, however, is not measured simply in objective data but in the merit of its mission. Reflecting Paul Fuller's extraordinary legacy, Fordham Law School is committed to an education that uniquely combines academic excellence, skilled lawyering, and the primacy of ethics and professionalism. Fordham educates lawyers dedicated to the highest standards of the legal profession and to the service of others. In that spirit, the alumni, faculty, and students of fordham law school will celebrate its centennial year by performing 100,000 hours of public service. Congratulations to the Class of2006!
After endless nights of reading, hours spent studying in the library and dreadful moments of Socratic torture, we have finally made it!
