Hi Guys, Welcome to another issue of the Fónua Magazine. Wow, Christmas is upon us and hasn’t it come around fast! We hope you guys are all reeling in the festive spirit and looking forward to Santa’s arrival! Christmas Wish

Our retail executives have worked really hard this year so we reckon Santa is going to be extra kind to them all, we asked them what they want for Christmas, find out what they had to say! Damian Devaney For Christmas I would like something from the Wemo range. Mainly because I got the Wemo baby monitor and it's been great and so easy to use so I now have the confidence to try out the rest! I would particularly like the Wemo Motion as we have no house alarm system (this is why I tell no one at work where I live) and I think it would be a great deterrent! It is motion and light sensitive so I can set it to come on once it detects motion and another thing I like is that you can set it so your TV turns off if no motion has been detected for over an hour (I have a tendency to fall asleep in front of the TV)!

My favourite product is simple but great. It’s the Kitsound Mini Speaker! The mini speaker is great has quality sound and is a great stocking filler. It's compact in size and you can easily increase the volume using your own device. You can listen to music when you are on the move and it's perfect for a kids room! Another great thing about the speaker is you can easily connect a couple of them together, a Mini Buddy army of speakers gives a much louder sound!
Marcin Skwark Christmas, for most of us, is the time of the year when we tend to kick-back, relax and if we’re lucky enough fully enjoy the time off work! Other than decorating the house and Christmas tree, we tend to spend a bit too much time on the couch or at the table, the by-product of this is sweet overindulgence. The Fitbit Flex would be perfect for keeping track of this, so we don’t let ourselves go too much over the festive season! It’s simple, comfortable and useful. The Fitbit wristband is a tracker aimed at measuring your exercise, diet and calories burned. At night, it tracks your sleep quality and it has a silent wake alarm that gently vibrates to wake you up. It also automatically syncs all your data to PCs, iPhones and Android phones without plugging in and gives you easy access to your stats. That’s why, it would be my number 1 choice for Christmas this year!
Jim Prendergast The Kitsound Enduro in ears are a great pair of water resistant sports headphones, something that would hugely appeal to me! I love the great outdoors and to be able to hear my favourite workout tunes while enjoying my favourite type of activity is very exciting. However this is usually destroyed by rain, especially during the winter months! Fed up with replacing earphones due to water damage I want a pair of these colourful earphones for Christmas so I hope Santa cops on to my hints this year!
Sinead O'Donovan It's here again, Christmas is my favourite time of year! This year I would truly love if Santa could bring me a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S4 with the S View case! A pair of Beats by Dr. Dre would be great, and maybe the Belkin sports armband, and a Kitsound speaker too – I like the Frog! And as I’ve worked extra hard this year maybe an iPhone 5S for good measure? If you don't ask you don't get right??

Declan Duggan For Christmas, I would really like a pair of the Hednoise Vortex Headphones. My own headphones are always getting tangled on me so the anti-tangle cable on these would be so useful! They look great and are really comfortable due to the padded ears, you can also easily answer calls at the touch of a button and the headphones will seamlessly switch between calls and music. They also have a really powerful bass that you would normally expect to get with more expensive headphones.
Jackie Hoey For Christmas this year I would really like a pair of the Kitsound Audio Earmuffs! They are really cute and cosy and have a detachable cable so they can be used as earmuffs or headphones and keep your ears warm especially in the cold winter weather! Plus the sound quality is really really good!
Sara Whelan For Christmas I would love to get the new Lifeproof case from Otter Box for the iPhone 5. It offers full waterproof cover and protection for your phone. The iPhone is fully protected against breaks and water damage. It is a must-have for your Smartphone.

Industry News Vodafone & Spotify
Vodafone Ireland has recently teamed up with the music streaming company Spotify to provide the streaming service to its mobile customers. The offer will see Spotify’s premium service offered to both Vodafone’s bill pay and pay as you go customers. The premium service allows users to play songs from Spotify straight onto their mobile devices! Vodafone’s commercial director, Marcel de Groot, said “we believe streaming is a game changer in the music industry”. The move comes as Vodafone rolls out its high speed 4G mobile network around the country. Mr de Groot did however say that the service would not be dependent on 4G, as the operator’s 3G network is more than up to the task.
Samsung Payout
Samsung has recently been ordered to pay Apple $290 million for patent infringement, bringing its total fines to a whopping $929 million. The case dates back to last year when Apple were awarded $1 billion after a jury found Samsung had infringed their patents with 26 different products. A retrial was later ordered based on the miscalculation of damages for 13 products. Samsung argued that it should pay $50 million for use of certain features in 13 of their older products while Apple said it should receive $380 million. The $290 million granted adds to $599 million awarded to Apple in March and $40.5 million
awarded in April. Apple said: “For Apple, this case has always been about innovation and the hard work that goes into inventing products that people love.” Samsung said: “We are disappointed by today’s decision, which is based in large part on a patent that the US patent and trademark office has recently deemed invalid."
Sony SmartWig
Sony has recently filed a particularly strange patent application in the wearable technology sector, the "SmartWig". They say the SmartWig can be worn on top of natural hair and will be able to process data
HTC Football App
HTC has just launched a new UEFA football application that will bring users breaking football news and statistics. The football app announcement is not surprising considering HTC was announced as the exclusive phone supplier partner of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in January this year under a three-year agreement. The partnership will lead the app to bring data to users the moment it is released by UEFA, information featured on the HTC app will include team news, match updates and post-game analysis. The free app will also allow fans to make calendar notifications for upcoming games.

They foresee the devices potential to become very popular as it could have uses in the healthcare sector. With a combination of sensors the device could collect information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure of the wearer, the system could collect this kind of data naturally and then transmit it to a computer. A Sony spokesperson has apparently said the firm had not decided on any plans for commercial production of the SmartWig yet.

Next Generation Consoles This quarter saw the launch of two of the most exciting consoles of the gaming world. In this issue we take a look at how they measure up against each other and what exciting new accessories we have available to enhance your gaming experience. What makes these launches so significant is that it’s been 8 years since the PS3 and Xbox 360 were first released so expectations are high and gamers are biting their nails in anticipation.
