Provide a copy of the current roster at registration. Roster must include position and the current year. Ø Out-Of-County Fire and EMS personnel must provide at registration a letter on official department letter head that includes documentation of active membership, position and that this course is necessary for your job. One letter can list multiple members from an agency. Ø Without proper documentation at registration will result in tuition payment before student will be allowed to register for class. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic) Night Emergency Medical Technician is offered at least 2 times per year. The class meets every Tuesday and Thursday night, with some weekends. This course meets requirements for the NCOEMS and National Registry standards. Upon successful completion of the class, the student is eligible to sit for the NC EMT Basic examination. 12 hours of clinical is required. Classes begin every spring and fall semesters.

Course Begins: January 8 Time: Wednesday 8:30a-5:30p (some Saturday classes) Location: Clayton Fire Department Cost: $200 = $180.00 + $17.50 (Clinical Insurance Fee) + $2.50 (CPR Card) Required Resource Materials: AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick & Injured; EMT Premier Package Emergency Medical Technician- Intermediate – 296 Hours Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate is a 296 hour program (200 hours didactic; 96 clinical hours). This class is offered on a “shift-friendly” schedule. The student is required to come to class one day per week; Tuesday or Wednesday. There are some Saturday and Sunday classes per outline. The student will be given a syllabus at the first day of class to meet weekend class scheduling requirements. The weekend classes are mandatory. This course is accelerated. EMT Basic’s with at least one year of experience are eligible, EMT’s with less experience are

Students are trained in the use of complex medical equipment, such as EKG’s, and are capable of administering medication, both orally and intravenously. Students receive certifications in numerous additional practices such as ACLS, PALS, AMLS, and PHTLS. Students learn the necessary skills needed in today’s ever evolving medical field to recognize, treat, and reverse life threatening conditions. The paramedic course is a year-long course divided into two divisions with a total of 1,132 hours; 632 classroom hours, 500 clinical hours. Students attend a shift friendly schedule meaning classes meet once a week, either Monday or Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm. There will be mandatory weekend classes scheduled.
