view courses and register online at www.johnstoncc.edu DALT - Developing a Lifelong Trade The DALT program provides career opportunities for young adults while simultaneously providing an additional avenue of hiring to meet the needs of local business and industry employers. DALT will enhance existing partnerships with local employers, the schools system, and community agencies by focusing on the manufacturing/ distribution/ assembly needs and opportunities. Participants in the DALT program will receive training in problem solving, communication, interviewing, resume writing, computer skills, and an understanding of safety, and manufacturing operations. Course Code: MNT 3111 02P Date: November 18-February 26 Time: Monday-Thursday 9a-4p Location: JCC Elsee Building Real Estate Broker Pre-Licensing Participants are required to obtain a Career Readiness Certificate to be eligible to enroll in this course. This requirement can be completed by taking the three ACT WorkKeys Assessment tests for the three subject areas: Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. A certificate or proof of levels completed must be presented at the time of registration with scores of Reading for Information - Level 5; Applied Mathematics - Level 5; Locating Information - Level 4.

Conceal Carry Handgun Training – SS* This course will explain the aspects of the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun law as it applies to the rights of the citizen to carry a concealed handgun and to apply the fundamentals of safety and basic marksmanship. Participants will be required to take a shooting proficiency test. This class will give you the certification you need to obtain a concealed carry permit from your sheriff’s office.

C.N.A Programs Orientation and Registration 11/14 & 12/4 at 9:00 am

Students will need to bring a handgun with belt and holster, hearing protection, shooting glasses and 100 rounds of ammunition. Students are required to wear closed toed shoes and a baseball style cap. Long pants are recommended. Students should bring $1.00 to pay for their certificates.

C.N.A. I Nursing Assistant Level I provides basic personal care training for individuals seeking employment in hospitals, nursing homes, doctor’s offices and home health agencies. This 160-hour course prepares the student to take the State Certification Examination. The course involves classroom, laboratory practice, and clinical experiences. Upon completion of the course, the student will be provided a certificate, a testing handbook, and information on the application process for the State Certification Examination. The student is responsible for mailing the application and fee to Pearson VUE for State Written and Hands-On Nurse Aide Competency Examination. Upon passing the State Certification examination, the nurse aide will be certified and placed on the N.C. Nurse Aide Registry. In addition, it is recommended to bring a hat/cap, water, sun block and bug spray. Students may want to bring a bag lunch since there is limited restaurant availability in the area. Defensive Driving Programs If you have been charged with a traffic violation, you may be eligible to take one of the Defensive Driving programs offered at Johnston Community College.

Wastewater Treatment Operator I & II This course is designed to provide the individual with a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. The course will provide the individual with knowledge of the laws and regulations related to wastewater treatment systems operation, equipment usually employed in such plants, and the ability to describe the general maintenance requirements for such equipment. This course is designed to assist the individual in preparation for the North Carolina Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission (WPCSOCC) Examination.

Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving (ADD) – 8 Hour (Also known as Red School) DDC-ADD is an 8-hour course that addresses the attitudes and behaviors of the negligent driver. Interactive exercises, lectures, visuals, and thought provoking discussions are used to teach responsibility on the road.
