COSMOLEDO 2023 16.02 – 23.02.2023

Neumondwoche auf Cosmoledo – wie immer haben meine Freunde und ich die beste Woche des Jahres auf den Seychellen reserviert. Uns erwarteten die besten Voraussetzungen, hervorragendes Wetter, eine Springflut und die Flats voll von unseren Zielfischen, den „Giant Trevalley“ – den sogenannten GT’s. Es gibt einfach keinen besseren Ort zum Salzwasserangeln als Cosmoledo – nicht umsonst wird das Atoll auch „The GT capital of the world“ genannt.

In den letzten Jahren kam es auch vor, dass die Fischerei auf Cosmo weniger gut verlief, weil uns das Wetter einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht hat - schlechte Sicht und starker Wind. Dieses Mal hatten wir bis auf einen halben Tag Regen die allerbesten Bedingungen, was sich auch in unseren Erfolgen wiederspiegelte.

Bereits am ersten Tag gelang mir ein Grand Slam – ein Trigger, ein Bonefish und ein GT. Damit nicht genug – ich konnte noch acht weitere GT’s, darunter meinen persönlichen „Best Flats GT“ mit 130 cm fangen. Joanne Hessney fing einen mit 101 cm Länge. Insgesamt konnte unsere Gruppe zum Auftakt 32 GT’s landen.

Am letzten Tag erlebte Christoph Hottgenroth seine Sternstunden und fing sogar einen GT mit 133 cm und einen weiteren mit 100 cm. Zusammen mit Gerhard Hörl landete er an einem Tag 32 GT’s.

Insgesamt 215 GT’s in einer Woche von 11 Anglern – das war der absolute Lodge Rekord in seiner Laufbahn als Manager, verkündete Brad Simpson stolz. Best week since ever!

New moon week at Cosmoledo – as always my friends and I reserved the best week of the year at the Seychelles. The best conditions awaited us, excellent weather, a spring tide and the flats full of our target fish the „Giant Trevalley“ - the so-called GT‘s. There‘s no better place for saltwater fishing than Cosmoledo – with good reason the atoll is also called „The GT capital of the world“.

In recent years it has also occured that fishing at Cosmo has not gone well because the weather has thwarted us - poor visibility and strong winds. This time we had the very best conditions apart from half a day of rain, which was also reflected in our successes.

Already on the first day I managed a Grand Slam - a Trigger, a Bonefish and a GT. That‘s not all - I was able to catch eight more GT‘s, including my personal „Best Flats GT“ with 130 cm. Joanne Hessney caught one with 101 cm. Overall, our group was able to land 32 GT‘s at the start.

On the last day, Christoph Hottgenroth experienced his greatest moments and even caught a GT with 133 cm and another with 100 cm. Together with Gerhard Hörl he landed 32 GT‘s in one day.

A total of 215 GT‘s in one week by 11 anglers - that was the absolute lodge record in his career as a manager, Brad Simpson proudly announced. Best week ever!
