CEIP José María del Campo Preparatory visit

3

In this school‌. 4

For the first time, we are gathering together. 5

The school has never been this international 6

but long before, this is what happened

7

We wanted primary schools that were interested in working together inside and outside of school grounds

8

Which schools? 9

Tose that: would work with interesting and innovative ideas  would flourish through cooperation  would want to do a collaborative project  would be enthusiastic to learn other schools' techniques and improve their own. 

In short: Schools that would allow us to open doors and our minds to the rest of Europe 10

Which countries? 11

The country did not matter, it was the schools that mattered Diversity is what makes this interesting 12

Some were able to visit our school from other primary schools in Europe. 13

ITALY

They were able to see what we do at our school, they enjoyed it !

14

We also were able to travel to other primary schools. It was a wonderful opportunity to travel through the Comenius program. 15

Mmmm!

Hi, we are from Spain. We are teachers and we have chosen you to work with us in a project called Comenius. What do you think ?

?????

FRANCE

Thanks to the father of a student from their school, HervĂŠ, we knew they worked very well...

16

It was only missing the maternelle “René Coty”, BUT…….

It turned out that Esperanza was the daughter of Spaniards, and the following idea became hers

17

HERVÉ, was our “spy” and he encouraged them to participate.

We know that that particular visit from us prompted a lot more gatherings 18

Pudo ver lo que hacíamos y ¡ le gustó! November.2005

HUNGARY

Albert's classmates introduced us to Hainalka 19

In this school we didn't have any “spy

Therefore, we suggested setting up a pen-pal correspondence between the older children from each school.

20

2007.June. We decided to go to Veszprem trying to involve them in the project definitely.

And.....WE ACHIEVED IT !!!! THEY SAID: YES, OF COURSE !!! 21

Thanks to Hajnailka, I ve finally got my present We also visited the kindergartners but they did not respond to our mails. Was the problem a language barrier?

Hainalka was set on the cause and she convinced them 22

A mother of a student who was familiar with Iceland because of Comenius, put us in contact with a native who recommended Harpa school to us. Being such southerners, we couldn't miss out on the north

23

Yes, indeed! I love Spanish paella!

ICELAND

Harpa answered us quickly and enthusiastically and agreed to collaborate in various projects.

24

Don t leave me alone! Me too, please!

GIMLI kinder

Harpa invited Gunna to participate. They wanted to do something together but didn't have a clear idea of how to go about it.

25

So we were all on board with the final count, or so we thought. Then, one of the members from Italy had a very interesting contact that he passed our way. . We were delighted ! 26

Oh my god, I have to tell you the truth. We thought you were a man!

WALES They felt like they were a valuable part right from the beginning 27

Now there were 6 countries. How wonderful ! 28

Now that we had all of the members. They had to acknowledge and fund us! What did we do from that point?

29

 

We formed a main group We researched and educated ourselves We established contacts with those who were in charge of European projects in the Andalucian government.

After having done all of that, we really wanted to see it work ! 30

MAIN GROUP

There were 8 of us. This is what we did

31

oTo develop the theory of the programmes which had been doing in our school:

oWorkshops with adults oInteraction oEnvironment oCohabitation oCoeducation

Organize preparatory visits o Maintain contact with the members o

32

In order to organize the visits...  We

established our main focuses .  We decided what we wanted and didn't want .  We made a calendar/schedule till Preparatory visit  We had to take into account that there wasn't enough time to do everything. So, we encountered a lot of invitations to visit school but there was simply no time.

33

The fundamentals of our goals were collaboration with each other and internally. We wanted to work on this and experiment with this. 34

How did we research this? ď‚— By

going to informative courses from European programs. New guidelines were being put out. ď‚— Through informative sessions by means of technology: blogs....

35

We concluded that for the best outcome, the project should, at least, include the following :      

Diversity A cooperation that looks at Europe as a community Various resources and a strong presence from ICT That it would be relevant and useful for students Participation from students, especially those from NEE The assumption that we are all educators : to include different institutions and to spread the project 36

TOO MUCH WORK, FOR A SHORT TIME….

57

58

Iceland, the title

And Spain….the warders..

59

It was a great responsability but we finally achieved it !!!! We had the main ideas and starting from these‌.

60

We would have to wait till June and fill in the application form correctly. If it was granted to Spain, it would be granted to everyone !! 61

We were then a real TEAM and wanted to do many things together anyway‌.

62

Öt ország pedagógusai Veszprémben Tiger Szabolcs 2009. 10. 12. 20:13 Nemzetközi tapasztalatcserére érkeztek óvónők, tanítók és tanárok. A központi téma a hátrányos helyzetű gyerekek integrációja. A vendégeket első hivatalos programjuk a városházába szólította hétfőn délután. A csoportot Porga Gyula alpolgármester köszöntötte, aki röviden mesélt városunk történelméről, oktatási rendszeréről, kulturális intézményeiről, válaszolt a feltett kérdésekre.

97

Our project in the local press

Official recognition and participation of the National Education, Town Hall and Press, during the meeting, gave our common project a larger dimension.

98 hall Reception at the town

ĂŠcole Jean Charcot

Cyril directed a choir : his pupils sang Beatles songs.

The exchange has helped our school children to give more sense to the project. They have enjoyed meeting Comenius teachers. They were able to ask questions about the schools with which they have been 99 corresponding.

ĂŠcole maternelle Mme RenĂŠ Coty / ĂŠcole Aristide Briand

The children of the nursery school were proud to show the activities they had practiced. The children from 2 to 5 years old had prepared dances together for this visit.

100

We attended meetings in order to share the different educational points of view. We evaluated the past actions and prepared the future goals within the initial project.

101

The parents asking about the activities of the association, organised for the children of the three schools in Ouistreham.

Parents associations involvement at school : report from each country after the slideshow presented by two members of the local parents’ association. Then we were able to compare the different situations.

102

Visit of the lighthouse and the Harbour master’s office

The visit of the Comenius teachers was an opportunity to discover the interesting sites of the host town.

103

On 6th June 1944 at dawn, 177 free French soldiers under the orders of the lieutenant commander Philippe Kieffer set foot on the sand of the beach. This site was named Sword Beach‌ We had the privilege to visit the museum with one of this French commando, Mister LÊon Gautier, 86 years old now. This museum helps to preserve the memory of these events for school children as well as adults of all nationalities. 104

In order to prove that primary school teachers are multitasked, Bruno improvised himself as a tour guide which he achieved with panache. Let’s remain modest (it’s a joke…).

Visit of the Caen castle and the Norman museum 105

Timetable Tuesday

Monday A meeting was held at school to exchange presents and then every country gave a presentation of their fourth newsletter. Art work from the different countries was shared in readiness for the Side by Side calendar. The project was then evaluated and successes discussed. A concert was then given by the children of the school; choir, creative dance team, creative music group and folk dancing and then a tour of the school. Mr Bill Zajac then gave a guided tour of Caerphilly castle. An evening meal was then enjoyed by all!!

Pedagogy within the Welsh education system was discussed and a presentation was given by the school eco council. A meeting was held with the Mayor and council leaders and a buffet lunch was enjoyed by all. A visit was then undertaken to Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni to visit the modern languages departments.

Wednesday Final forms were then completed and more visits were made to the classes. A very successful evening was then held in the castle with traditional Welsh dancers and a buffet.

Thursday A visit was arranged to Sain Ffagan and the Millenium stadium.

And now down to business.

Sharing of pedagogy and good practice.

Discussion of the Foundation Phase and the use of the TASC wheel.

111

Visiting the classes Answering lots of interesting questions from very inquisitive children.

Teaching the children from Wales some simple language and facts about our Comenius countries.

112

Visiting Ty Penallta and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni

Side by Side colleagues standing outside Ty Penallta – the main council building where decisions are made regarding schools. They met with the Council Leader – Lindey Whittle and the Mayor of Caerphilly – James Fussell. Comenius teachers visited the secondary school that children from YG Caerffili move to at 11 years of age. They spent an afternoon there learning how languages are taught and playing language games.

113

Everyone had a fantastic time in Caerphilly Castle, listening and dancing to traditional Welsh music.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate the Comenius project – and in such a fabulous setting.

114

Sain Ffagan / Millenium On Thursday the Side by Side team visited Sain Ffagan which is the most famous museum in Wales. The museum houses buildings from Celtic times to the 21st Century which help explain how Wales has developed as a country. Below Luis Miguel is standing in a school which dates back to Victorian times.

On Thursday afternoon the Side by Side team visited one of the most famous rugby venues in the World – the Millenium stadium in the heart of Cardiff. The 1999 World Cup final between Australia and France was played on this ground. The team enjoyed the tour of the ground.
