In addition to tiered wedding cakes, Gardner also offers a variety of over-the-top and cocktail shot cupcakes. When couples can’t decide on just one flavor, Gardner is ready. “We are always asked if they can do a variety of cake flavors, and of course, the answer is yes,” she explained, adding that that does mean that they may need to have more cake at the Suzanne Gardner created this unique groom’s cake for a recent wedding reception as guests will wedding. With the wedding season coming up in the spring, Gardner is gearing up for another busy year, but that doesn’t mean that she relaxes the rest of the year. The holidays and Valentine’s Day usually keep her working hard baking desserts and catering events. While she is originally from Rochester, Gardner’s first experiences with baking and catering began in San Diego, Calif., after being stationed there during her time in the Navy. When asked why Andrew and Lisa can’t bring it to brunch when they come, she was told, “They’re going to be late!” Mindy argued, saying it would be destroyed by the time they arrived on the golf cart. The ladies were so nice and helpful and the nostalgia of it being in an old church made the experience even better. After finding my dress, we decided the suits for the men, along with the bridesmaid dresses would be ordered there. When wedding colors are lime green and purple, finding matching colors can be difficult,” muses Mindy. “I wanted to wear a tux with a top hat and cane,” says Mingo, “but Mindy shut down the idea. Little did she know I had it all ready as a surprise for the reception.” “We also have some great family friends and aunts and uncles that helped tremendously,” says Mindy. “My cousin Zach and Mingo’s niece Hannah did an amazing job reading our Bible verses for the ceremony. My niece Alysa was a great help as my personal attendant, even walking with me out to the bike trail to help the photographers as we did our ‘first look.’” Songs which were extra special were the dad/daughter dance – Krystal Keith’s “Daddy Dance with Me,” and when Mingo and his mom decided to include all his nieces in their dance. So they started out slow and when it hit the chorus they pulled the girls out on the dance floor. Both Mindy and Mingo believe that, “The best part of our ceremony that we both remember was when Pastor Rolf Svanoe had us both turn around and look at all the people that were there to support us. It was nice to actually see who was in the church. We remember smiling and waving at people in the balcony. All the love and support that was shown to us on this day was unbelievable.” “We owe our parents everything. This day would not have gone as smoothly as it did without them. They are the glue that hold us altogether,” comments Mindy.
