The library is a huge resource to everyone in the area. Books, movies, music and audio books are available for check out. The adults, teens and kids programming is superb and offers something for everyone. Teens have their own space in the library with books, gaming systems and computers. The Children’s Library features a storytime room, a play and learn area provided by the Friends of the Fitchburg Library and computers that promote early literacy skills. Adults can utilize the Technology Lab with

The library also hosts events for children like the Great Halloween Hunt, kids movies and an art program for toddlers. the grounds of the stunning Agora. And if that’s not enough, you can also relax and enjoy live music by local musicians as they perform in the courtyards surrounded by prairies.

Over 100 artists showcase their works in a wide variety of mediums at this event that draws over 15,000 people each year. Featured artists include Steven Kozar, Cassius J. Callender, Solvici Glass and Herb Johnson. The event also features the enticing Capital Brewery Beer Garden and a selection of local food vendors. The lush tall grass prairies are the ideal setting for a picnic. Don’t hesitate to bring the kids along! The Children’s Art Yard is well-equipped to keep little hands busy with a number of art projects. Don’t be shy! Artful Escapes and Dane Arts Mural Arts have art activities for all. Artful Escapes will guide you step-by-step through a sequence of brush strokes that anyone can follow. They’ll have demos during the day, and “Mini Paintings� where you can set your inner artist free. Dane Arts will have you step right up and add your special touch to a community

FARMERS’ MARKET

Agora is Greek for gathering place and the Fitchburg Farmers’ Market proves that this is the place to be every Thursday afternoon. In addition to the peaceful prairie setting of the Agora Pavilion, you’ll also get to enjoy live music from local bands on the third Thursday each month and a variety of festivals throughout the season. As an additional bonus, the Pavilion serves as a huge umbrella when Mother Nature decides to water the earth. Shop the market on Thursdays from 3pm–6pm. From May through October the market is held in the Agora Pavilion. In November and December you can still enjoy the market indoors at the Community Center located at 5510 Lacy Road. The Agora Pavilion is located at 5511 E. Cheryl Parkway just off Fish Hatchery Road. Make the market a weekly tradition! It’s a great way to slow down and enjoy the best our community has to offer.

FITCHBURG PATHS (NO TRAIL PASSES REQUIRED) CANNONBALL PATH The Cannonball Path is shared-use path that runs from the Beltline Highway to the connection of the Capital City State Trail, Badger State Trail, Military Ridge Path and Southwest Path. This section of paved path runs from the Military Ridge Path to east of Seminole Highway. A bridge over the Beltline Highway was completed in 2013. This is a joint effort between the cities of Fitchburg and Madison. Unlike state trails, Fitchburg paths are free to use with no trail passes required.

MILITARY RIDGE PATH This path is an extension of the Military Ridge State Trail that connects to the Badger State Trail, Capital City State Trail, Cannonball Path and Southwest Path near Fitchburg’s Arrowhead Park. QUARRY RIDGE MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL & FREE RIDE AREA Quarry Ridge features trails for beginners to experts, including a single track loop with technical sections. Fitchburg’s Quarry Ridge Trail is located at 2740 Fitchrona Road (go west on Nesbitt Rd., turn left on Fitchrona Rd.). BICYCLE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY In 2012, Fitchburg was honored with winning a national award by the League of American Bicyclists designating Fitchburg as a bicycle friendly community. This exciting family-focused park is free of charge thanks to a large amount of fundraising done by the Fitchburg Optimist Club. What is a splash pad? First and foremost, a Splash Pad is fun!
