Best of Ottawa Animation Festival 2007 > L’Ottawa International Animation Festival est le plus important festival de films d’animation en Amérique du Nord et l’un des plus respectés sur le plan international. LAPSUS (Argentine, 2007, Juan Pablo Zaramella): Une religieuse découvre à son insu le charme et les dangers inhérents du côté obscurs. Un film démontrant les diverses possibilités du dessin animé. JOHN AND K AREN (Angleterre, 2007, Matthew Walker): À la suite d’une dispute, John, un ours polaire, se rend chez Karen, un pingouin femelle. John tente maladroitement de s’excuser. Aussi absurde que charmant. L’EAU LIFE (ÉUA, 2007, Jeff Scher): En utilisant la rotoscopie, Scher utilise des images d’archives qu’il repeint, image par image avec de l’aquarelle. T.O.M. (Angleterre, 2006, Tom Brown & Daniel Gray): Un excentrique garçon de sept ans nous explique sa routine quotidienne. Un regard sans jugement sur un enfant exhibitionniste. DOXOLOGY (ÉUA, 2007, Michael Langan): Un intriguant film expérimental qui questionne le lien entre le terrestre et le céleste par le biais … d’une balle de tennis. UMO (Japon, 2007, Shoji Goto): Un fascinant vidéoclip réalisé en stop-motion, mettant en vedette la musique du groupe féminin japonais OOIOO. FRAMING (Allemagne, 2007, Bert Gottschalk): Un poème visuel rendant hommage à un medium moribond, la pellicule 8mm, le tout bercé par la musique de Franz Schubert. I MET THE WALRUS (Canada, 2007, Josh Raskin): En 1969, alors qu’il n’a que 14 ans, le jeune Josh Raskin réalise et enregistre une entrevue avec John Lennon. Plus de 30 ans plus, tard, il anime et illustre cet entretien avec esprit et humour. THE WAIF OF PERSEPHONE (Canada, 2006, Nick Cross): Basé d’après la légende de Perséphone, ce film haut en couleur se veut une métaphore sur la corruption commerciale et politique de l’art et la nature. THE OLD, OLD, VERY OLD MAN (Angleterre, 2007, Elizabeth Hobbs): En 1634, le roi Charles décide de célébrer son plus vieux et loyal sujet, Thomas Parr, âgé de 152 ans. TEAT BEAT OF SEX (ÉUA, 2007, Signe Baumane): Trios capsule informatives sur la sexualité féminine. MILK TEETH (Angleterre, 2007, Tibor Banoczki): Un jeune garçon suit sa sœur dans un champ où elle a un rendez-vous galant sur la banquette arrière d’une voiture. Un mélange de papier découpé et d’animation assisté par ordinateur. GOLDEN AGE (EXTRAITS) (ÉUA, 2007, Aaron Augenblick): Un film absolument délirant explorant la vie et les déboires de plusieurs personnages animés.

L’EAU LIFE (USA, 2007, Jeff Scher): A rotoscoped look at swimming and water activities, each frame painted in watercolours. T.O.M. (UK, 2006, Tom Brown & Daniel Gray): The journey of a young boy through his daily routine. A non-judgmental look at a strange young boy with strange habits. DOXOLOGY (USA, 2007, Michael Langan): An exploration of the relationship between the terrestrial and the celestial via singing tennis balls. UMO (Japan, 2007, Shoji Goto): Forest creatures dedicate their music and dance to end the desertification of the Earth in this video produced for OOIOO, a Japanese art-rock girl band. FRAMING (Germany, 2007, Bert Gottschalk): The single frames of 8mm films are compared with windows in building facades of a city. I MET THE WALRUS (Canada, 2007, Josh Raskin): In 1969, a 14-year-old armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room for a chat. THE WAIF OF PERSEPHONE (Canada, 2006, Nick Cross): A modern version of a classic fable. Persephone, the goddess of spring, is abducted to the underworld. THE OLD, OLD, VERY OLD MAN (UK, 2007, Elizabeth Hobbs): 152-year-old Thomas Parr is taken to meet King Charles I, who orders a celebration of his longevity. TEAT BEAT OF SEX (USA, 2007, Signe Baumane): Short lectures on sex given by a knowing woman. Very entertaining. Very informative. MILK TEETH (UK, 2007, Tibor Banoczki): A young boy follows his sister into a field as she sneaks out to see her boyfriend. A strange tale presented in cut-outs and 3D computer animation.
