Message from the President

Dear Members, From the launch of the Smart Cities Business Forum, to the creation of the Advisory Council, the Chamber has navigated many new challenges in 2015 to deliver on its promise. By providing strategic business oriented events and connecting you with Australian Ministers like the Hon. Julia Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs, The Hon. Warren Truss MP, Deputy Prime Minister, and The Hon. Andrew Constance, NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, we have endeavoured to lift our game. Our 2015 success stories include a new national organisation with Claire Kasses appointed as General Manager, our Smart Cities magazine in the Australian Financial Review for our first National Business Forum and the official relaunch of the South Australia Chapter in the presence of Sean Costello, CEO of DCNS, and South Australia Minister for Defence Industries, Martin Hamilton-Smith. 2015 also saw the forging of a partnership with France Volontaires and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion to foster the creation of bilateral links between Reunion Island and Western Australia. In the same spirit, the Chamber find a convention with the New-Caledonian cluster Avenir Export. These alliance achievements were driven by our goal to promote French businesses through mutual cooperation. Facci has also extend the partnership with the Go8 (Group of Eight) Universities and the French Embassy to set up a French-Australian linkage programme. Alongside these positive developments, we have expanded our membership base and restructured FACCI internally to increase both our functional efficiency and external visibility. Delivering new networking platforms and customised business services for our members remain our central focus for the coming year and we're now well-placed to achieve those objectives. I would like to thank the Board of Directors, State Councillors and operational team for their commitment and contribution as well as our members and sponsors for their ongoing support and dedication.

2015 Highlights AOG - AUSTRALASIAN OIL & GAS EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE March 2015 - Perth

Representatives of the delegation of French companies had the opportunity to: • Meet with several Australian companies through targeted meetings • Meet potential local partners • Develop new relationships • Expand their knowledge of the Australian market • Network at several events French Stand - AOG 2015, Perth

For its third edition, the French Australian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Business France and GEP-AFTP had a “FRANCE” Stand during the 3-day Australian Oil & Gas Exhibition (AOG) from 11 to 13 March at the PCEC in Perth.

The three organisations worked in collaboration to bring a delegation of French companies consisting of Airbus Defence & Space, Bureau Veritas, Comeca, Lafon, Manitou, Nuvia, Serimax, Skf-S2m, Technogenia, Total and Valco to the AOG, which provided them with unique visibility throughout the Exhibition.

EUROPCAR TOUR DE FRANCE LUNCH July 2015 - Melbourne

On Friday 24 July 2015, the FrenchAustralian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FACCI) hosted the 12th Europcar Tour de France Lunch at Peninsula (Docklands). Over 600 guests came together to celebrate the Tour de France two days before the arrival of the peloton the Champs Elysees.

This year again, the French-Australian Chamber was delighted to work in partnership with Europcar who provided a loyal support to the event. The Europcar Tour de France Lunch was proud to support its Charity Partner, the Amy Gillett Foundation, a cycling association promoting safer roads for cyclists.

For the second year, the Lunch was proudly hosted by our two Masters of Ceremony, Gabriel Gaté and David Culbert who led the peloton of this annual celebration of La Grande Boucle. Guests enjoyed a French menu designed by Philippe Mouchel, famous Chef at Deja-Vue while Christophe Mallet, hosted a very insightful and interesting panel discussion with the kind participation of Bradley McGee, who has shared his experiences of the race. The event ended with the Grand Raffle draw where the lucky winner won a trip for two to France, kindly donated by our Airlines Partner, Emirates.


RELAUNCH OF OUR SA CHAPTER July 2015 - Adelaide

2015 was the year in which we relaunched FACCI’s activities in South Australia. After a period of several years of inactivity, we established a new State Council to oversee FACCI activities in SA; we appointed a state co-ordinator (Claire Durand) to assist in the organisation of events; and we commenced a program of building our membership base in SA. We are delighted that major organisations such as Allwater, Pellenc, Pernod Ricard, Schneider Electric and Veolia have already agreed to actively participate in our activities, as have a number of small and medium sized businesses and individuals.

FACCI’s activities in SA were officially relaunched in 2015 with a major cocktail party where Sean Costello, the CEO of DCNS was the guest speaker. Sean provided an overview of the tender process for the Federal Government’s future submarine program. The SA Minister for Defence Industries, Martin Hamilton-Smith also attended and actively participated in proceedings. In 2016 we will be focusing on continuing to build our membership base and establishing a regular series of events for our members. We have planned a series of activities for 2016 which include networking events, business seminars and "meet the member" sessions.

We are keen to promote French/ Australian business activities in and out of South Australia.

It promises to be a busy and exciting year for FACCI in South Australia!

Frank Ribuot, CEO of Randstad and President of the French-Australian Chamber NSW Chapter led a practical and interactive interview with Emma, discussing how to succeed as an entrepreneur.

A Winning Marketing Strategy with Jane Clark, February 2015 - Brisbane

Our very first Business Briefing of 2015 was dedicated to Marketing for Small Businesses, with Jane Clark (VIE Marketing), winner of the Australian Marketing Institute's Marketing Program of the Year at their 2014 Awards for Marketing Excellence. A passionate speaker, Jane shared with us the inspiring story of farmer Gregie and her Scenic Rim 4Real Milk campaign as well as valuable insights on developing a brand/ product/company from the ground up and establishing a customer base.

On Monday 26 October, The FrenchAustralian Chamber of Commerce was delighted to welcome Tim Pallas MP, Treasurer of Victoria. Our Members and attendees had the opportunity to listen to the Minister's exclusive presentation on Victoria’s economic position, the economic priorities of the Victorian State Government, projects and planning in Infrastructure and foreign investment attraction.

2015 Highlights SMART CITIES: THE COMPETITIVE EDGE DRIVING AUSTRALIA’S SMART CITIES September 2015 - Sydney

On Wednesday 16 September, the French-Australian Chamber held two consecutive events in Sydney based on the theme of Smart Cities. The day started with the Smart Cities Business Forum organised by the Chamber within Team France in partnership with NSW Trade and Investment. The keynote address was given by The Hon. Andrew Constance MP, NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure. This forum provided a great platform for French companies to exchange with local partners from the private and public sectors, and to share challenges and solutions to make our cities more

efficient, sustainable and competitive. Among the speakers we had the pleasure to welcome a delegation from New Caledonia as well as representatives from Keolis Downer, Thales, Vinci, Bouygues, Morpho (Safran)… For this occasion, a magazine published by the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce was distributed nation-wide to 70,000 readers of the Australian Financial Review. The magazine revealed the major talking points of the day’s Business Forum and delved into the topic of Smart Cities reflecting some major "Smart City" initiatives from our key speakers, contributors or sponsors.

The day concluded with the Chamber’s much anticipated Soirée de Gala sponsored by Peugeot, which opened this year with a keynote speech from the Hon. Warren Truss on the theme of Smart Cities and showcasing the announcement of the 4th Etihad Airways Business Awards recipients. FIRST ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING November 2015 - Sydney

Our new Advisory Council is composed of CEOs/Managing Directors of major companies and assists the Chamber in the development of its strategy. The Advisory Council will meet twice a year to discuss and validate the main directions proposed by the Chamber

under the patronage of the Ambassador of France, His Excellency Mr Christophe Lecourtier. Senior figures from public life and leaders of companies such as Thales, SITA, Pernod Ricard, Myer, GDF, Alcatel-Lucent can provide useful viewpoints on the best actions to

take to secure the position of French businesses here Down Under. It's an hnonour to have as Deputy Chairman the Hon Bruce Baird AM, former NSW Minister for Transport.

CONCOURS DES VINS DE VICTORIA November 2015 - Melbourne

Since its inception in 1990 the annual Air Liquide Concours des Vins de Victoria has been bringing together two proud wine-producing cultures, French and Australian, to a place where Victorian terroirs and aromas meet the French palate. The 2015 anniversary edition of this unique wine show, organised by the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was once again a successful event showcasing the Victorian regional indications and a new Alternative Red class. For the Chairman of the judging panel, Bernard Burtschy, the Concours is “an opportunity to observe changes in wine styles” and highlights “the particularities of the Victorian Terroirs and the consistency of the wineries over the years”. The Concours took place over two weeks and was divided into the

judging sessions held on the 18 and 19 November and the wine tasting event as well as the announcement of winners on the 26 November at the Medallion Club at Etihad Stadium. Proudly sponsored by Air Liquide, the event featured a delectable line up of 435 different Victorian wines from over 100 wineries all enjoyed by an enthusiastic crowd of close to 800 guests including

winemakers, judges, sponsors and members of the French-Australian Chamber. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in each class as well as the 2015 Air Liquide Concours des Vins de Victoria Trophy Winner for Best Wine in the show to Adrian Munari from Munari Wines.

Business Services

The FACCI Business Support & Trade Services recorded a revenue increase (+105% compared to last year).

Trade Revenue Growth ($k) 272

In 2015, we received more than 317 business queries for companies wishing to explore opportunities on the Australian market. 50 Companies have contracted our Business Support Department through 24 Individual and 2 Collective Missions. FACCI also participated in 10 Trade Days in France in June 2015 and met with more than 70 French companies while there. For 2015, our goal is to further develop tailored hosting and domiciliation services for French SMEs wishing to post a VIE or employee and set-up their operations in Australia. Hosting income has become the second largest source of income for the trade activities with an impressive +248% result due to FACCI NSW's new facilities and increasing capacity (6 desks available and currently fully booked). We are currently planning on reproducing this business model in the VIC office in Melbourne's CBD. The Business Support & Trade Department is a valuable activity of the Chamber as it connects FACCI with French & Australian companies, Trade & Investment Institutions, and participates in the development of bilateral trade between our respective countries.

FRANCE-AUSTRALIE

SMART CITIES

France-Australie is the online magazine of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry. It is distributed to all member organisations Australia-wide, French and Australian Government officials, the French CCI network in Asia-Pacific and in France.

This magazine, also distributed in 70,000 copies of the Australian Financial Review, provided a detailed overview of the Chamber's first National Business Forum, reflecting the actual agenda and session topics, and featuring some major "Smart City" initiatives from our key speakers, contributors or sponsors.

INTERVIEW WITH JOHN AZARIAS, FACCI'S LIFE MEMBER After around 20 years in the French Australian Chamber of Commerce, what's the biggest development you have seen?

Why did you become a FACCI Board Member?

In 1995, then FACCI President Joel Hakim asked me to become General Secretary of the Chamber. I was very pleased to accept this position because I thought, and still think that Australia and France have a lot to achieve together in terms of strategy, commerce and industry. The biggest challenge to the relationship is regarding co-operation. However, this is something that is improving, and we are seeing greater collaboration between the two countries which is pleasing to see.

I think that the biggest development has been in the area of commercial exchanges. Twenty years ago, we started from scratch, and while we have made sizable inroads in our quest to facilitate the access of French companies in Australia, there is still improvement to be made. I am still surprised to see ongoing miscommunication between Australian and French companies but this is something the Chamber is attempting to fix.

Is this the Chamber's biggest challenge in the next few years?

This challenge is shared amongst, the Chamber, the French Embassy in Australia as well several companies and organisations that are involved in the French-Australian community. With respect to the Chamber, any favourable outcomes are dependent on the efforts of our team and I am delighted to see that FACCI has an excellent group

of people working on this matter. The President Francois Romanet and the new General Manager are the right people to take the Chamber forward and to achieve positive results for the French-Australian community. In turn, I am very enthusiastic about the future. On the other hand, the French population living and working in Australia will become the best ambassadors for developing France-Australia relations in the future. The younger French nationals in Australia will be the link between our two nations and will be at the centre of encouraging future partnerships and communication between the two countries in the years to come.

Last year you received the FACCI Merits and a Life Membership, what does it mean to you? It is a gesture of friendship and I was delighted to receive this privilege. I am always very pleased to engage with the Chamber.

Financial Report The financial statements at 31.12.15 have been audited by Mazars Australia (Duncan Dovico Chartered Accountants). 2015 closes with a profit of $661 (2014: $1,731 profit). Total Income for 2015 was $1,555,194 representing an increase of 16.1% compared to the previous year. Movements in income categories since the previous year are as follows: • Events: +22% • Membership: +6.7% • Services: +20.9% Events represent 49.8% of total revenue, membership 32.7% and services 17.5%. Expenses increased to $1,554,533 (+16.4%) including operating costs of sale $786,896 (+26%) and staffing costs of $460,328 (+20,7%). It is also worthwhile noting that FACCI generated $84,004 operating cash flow in 2015 (2014: $19,147).
