Why will there be fewer Blue Line trains now? There are only two ways across the Potomac River for Metro trains. Yellow Line trains go over the Yellow Line bridge; Blue and Orange line trains go through a tunnel below Rosslyn which is currently at capacity at 26 trains an hour. Silver Line service means Metro has to open up slots in that tunnel.

Why is the Silver Line running all the way to L argo Town Center instead of Rosslyn? Trying to turn back trains at Rosslyn would be a mess, given the station’s track configuration. At one point, Metro thought Stadium-Armory would

Will the Silver Line feature 7000-series cars? Eventually. Travelers sometimes refer to the next generation of rail cars as “the Silver Line cars.” Metro is buying some of these 7000-series cars to accommodate the demand created by the Silver Line extension. That doesn’t mean they will run exclusively on the Silver Line. And none will have entered service in time for the line’s opening.

pain of some Blue Line riders who travel to Rosslyn and the west side of the District. Starting Aug. 24, the 7Y will be rerouted to stop within walking distance of the Blue Line stations at Crystal City, Pentagon City, Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, Farragut West and McPherson Square.

Have they started to work on Phase II yet? Preliminary work on the second phase, which will have six stops, including one at Dulles International Airport, has begun. Earlier this year, officials launched a hotline (1-844-385-RAIL) for people who have questions or concerns about the second phase.

Will it really be ready in 2018? Metro doesn’t have the best track record, but only time will tell. (THE WASHINGTON POST)
