lessons from Paul Wiedorn, who also serves as the guild treasurer. Safety is first during the initiating lessons, offered four times a year, usually in the cooler winter months. “We give them a tour, and the first half of the day is all about safety, and some of the basic tools,” said Wiedorn, who got involved nine years ago. By the end of the day, students try their hand at making something. “Pokers. Lots of pokers, that first day,” Wiedorn said.

“First was the poker. Then hooks. Then more hooks. They are good for teaching you how to handle the hammers.” CLIFF GREENE, of Crofton, Md., on the 30 to 40 trammel hooks — used to hold a camping stove over a fire — he made to hone his blacksmith skills

The last Wednesday of every month

On Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings, the guild members show up to the forge building, a post and beam structure built with pegs — no nails. Ramey showed up hoping to use the shop’s power hammer to quicken the pace of the pounding required to turn two pieces of high carbon steel into a Damascus knife blank. But the hammer was taken apart for refurbishing, and he had to resort to the old ways — heating and pounding the two pieces together, then repeating until the new single piece is large enough to fold over onto itself. He will do that at least nine times to build layers of steel. It’s similar to making puff pastry, layer after layer, fold after fold. And a super strong chunk of steel, made stronger from the layers, can be fashioned into a knife that will hold its extra sharp edge much longer than other blades. “I will be a better blacksmith from knife-making,” Ramey said, wiping sweat from his brow. It took him nearly three hours to complete one fold. All it takes is a little heat, a nd a l it t le mo r e s we at . E.B. FURGURSON III (THE CAPITAL VIA AP)

MARYLAND So, this summer getting too hot for you? Try being a blacksmith — not because you have to because it’s your job, but because it’s fun. Members of the Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild gathered at their “clubhouse” at Kinder Farm Park last week, sweating over 1,500 degree coal forges, tinkering with their metal projects. “Welding!” shouted Mark Ramey, of Arnold, Md., warning others that serious sparks were about to fly as he took his hammer to a thick piece of steel he would fold onto itself to build strength so that he could later form into a knife. About 30 whacks later, he returned the steel to the fire. It was a slow, repetitive process: heating metal until it glowed like the bituminous coal of the fire; then taking it from the fire to the anvil to pound and bend, or twist into candleholders, a trammel hook or an ambitious Damascus steel piece that will someday become a knife. Synthetic drugs a ‘ game changer’ THE DISTRICT A man was clinging to a light pole on H Street NE when police showed up, and then he dropped his pants. Another man near Eastern Market was laughing so hard that paramedics had trouble keeping him on a stretcher. A third, whom police found prancing through Capitol Hill, started kicking and screaming when eight police and fire officials tried to restrain him. Paramedics rushed all three men to hospitals in separate incidents Thursday, and all three said they had taken synthetic drugs. Synthetic drugs have been around for years. Also known as “synthetic cannabinoids,” the term encompasses a range of mind-altering chemicals that are constantly evolving. Authorities say the problem spiked in June, with a sudden rash of 911 calls. And they are blaming the drugs for a growing list of frightening incidents across the city. Officials have linked the drugs to a grisly Fourth of July killing in which an allegedly high man stabbed a Metro rider nearly 40 times on a train. But links between the drugs and violence are almost entirely grounded in anecdotal evidence rather than hard data. Because the mixtures change by the batch in part to skirt drug laws, the drugs are difficult to test — and overdoses are difficult to treat. Authorities said they’re still testing the Metro stabbing suspect for signs that he was using synthetic drugs, which they say

they suspect from his behavior. The truth about synthetic drugs, law enforcement officials and scientists say, is that the danger lies in the mystery. “Synthetic drugs” don’t refer to a single substance but to a multitude of combinations concocted in laboratories that federal investigators say are mostly in China. Nonetheless, there is a growing sense that those effects are worsening in the District, where police, paramedics and even

users say that synthetic drugs are becoming more prevalent. Reactions, police said, range from a blank, zombielike stare to twitchy agitation. D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has described seeing three people overdose at a notorious strip of pavement near Bladensburg and Benning roads NE in a single hour — “people completely disoriented, disconnected and unconscious, sometimes in the middle of the street.” “We see this every day,” said one D.C. police officer who was on the scene, referring to a man clinging to a utility pole. Some people become amorous on the drugs, said a veteran paramedic. Others become angry and sometimes violent. “They can go from half asleep to combative and raging,” said Holly O’Byrne, a paramedic who said some patients have been found nearly unconscious, and one recently tried to bite off a colleague’s finger. “The drug is a game changer.” ABIGAIL HAUSLOHNER AND PETER HERMANN (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Deposition: Cosby paid to keep affairs a secret NEW YORK Bill Cosby, in sworn testimony a decade ago, said he had paid women after sex to keep the affairs from his wife, suggested he was skilled at reading women’s unspoken desires and called one of his accusers a liar. The New York Times first reported the revelations Saturday after obtaining a copy of a transcript from a deposition Cosby gave in a lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand, who alleges he drugged and molested her. According to excerpts from the deposition, Cosby admitted he procured quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women

he wanted to have sex with. In Constand’s case, excerpts reveal that Cosby told her attorney he considered the encounter consensual. “I walk her out. She does not look angry. She does not say to me, ‘Don’t ever do that again,’” Cosby said in the deposition. He described himself as Constand’s “mentor,” willing to help her with advice and contacts. He characterized their affair as lighthearted, noting both parties were “playing sex, we’re playing, petting, we’re playing.” Cosby strikes a boastful tone at some points in the deposition, saying he sometimes refrained from sexual intercourse with

women because he did not want them to develop romantic feelings for him, according to the Times. Sex, he said, “is something that I feel the woman will succumb to more of a romance and more of a feeling — not love, but it’s deeper than a playful situation.” He said he offered to pay for Constand’s education and paid another woman whom he had met in 1976, according to the transcripts. He said he funneled money to one of the women he had sex with through his agent so his wife wouldn’t find out. Cosby has yet to comment publicly on the Times report.

Fire jumps onto Calif. freeway, torching vehicles

HESPERIA, CALIF. | Fanned by 40 mph winds, a wildfire swept onto a freeway on Friday near Hesperia, Calif. Drivers and their passengers abandoned their cars on Interstate 15, the main route connecting Southern California and Las Vegas, as flames hopscotched down the road, destroying 20 vehicles, several of which exploded in fireballs.

There’s a new argument for why TV may be harmful for kids: It puts them at higher risk of being bullied later in life, according to a study published last week in the Journal of Developmental and Behavior Pediatrics. The study found that higher rates of TV watching among 2-year-olds correlate with a higher likelihood of victimization in the sixth grade. “More time spent watching television leaves less time for family interaction, which remains the primary vehicle for socialization,” wrote Linda Pagani, the study’s author and a professor at the University of Montreal. TV viewing also leads to poor eye-contact habits, which she says is a cornerstone of friendship and social interaction.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Saturday that hostility between the Islamic Republic and the U.S. will not abate after a nuclear agreement and that Iran will keep supporting regional groups and governments the West opposes. “Even after this deal, our policy toward the arrogant U.S. will not change,” Khamenei said. CHATTANOOGA, TENN. A few months before he killed five U.S. service members in a shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tenn., the 24-year-old gunman, who often joked that he was just an “Arabian redneck,” was smoking marijuana with friends. It was getting late and Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez had work the next morning at his new job some two hours away in Franklin, said a close friend who was with him that night and spent several hours with him in the days leading up to the shooting. Abdulazeez dropped off a couple of his friends on the night in April, snorted some crushed caffeine pills and started to drive. A little after 2 a.m., Abdulazeez was arrested for driving under the influence, according to court papers, an incident at odds with blog posts in which he portrayed himself as a devout Muslim and his existence in this world a “prison of monotony and routine.” The portrait emerging of Abdulazeez isn’t one of a committed

Muslim or vengeful jihadist, but rather an aimless young man who came from a troubled home and struggled to hold down a job after college, said friends and law enforcement officials. The 24-year-old Kuwait-born Abdulazeez opened fire Thursday at a military recruiting office and a Navy-Marine operations center a few miles apart. Four Marines died and three were wounded, including a sailor who later died Saturday. Abdulazeez was killed by police. In a statement, his family said Abdulazeez’s had suffered from depression for many years and “was not the son we knew and loved.” “It grieves us beyond belief to know that his pain found its expression in this heinous act of violence,” the statement said. Family members said they are cooperating with police. “We understand there are many legitimate questions that need to be answered,” they said. “Having said this, now is the

said a person close to the family. Counterterrorism investigators, meanwhile, continued to interview Abdulazeez’s acquaintances and delve into his monthslong visit to Jordan last year, looking for clues to who or what might have influenced him and set off the bloodshed Thursday. Abdulazee’s friend, who spoke to The Washington Post on condition of anonymity said he and Abdulazeez — along with two other young Muslim men — spent hundreds of hours together over the past four years, including the weeks and months leading up to the violent attack. Sometimes they talked about the Middle East’s bloody wars, such as the battles between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and the chaos in Syria. Abdulazeez blamed some of the bloodshed on U.S. foreign policy. “It wasn’t anything that would throw up red flags,” said the friend. “Nobody suspected a thing. If we had, we would have done something to prevent this.”

“No, not at all.” That was reality TV star Donald Trump’s response Sunday when asked if he owed John McCain an apology for suggesting that the Arizona Senator wasn’t a war hero because he had been captured during the Vietnam War. If you were expecting anything else from Trump, you haven’t been paying much attention to his presidential campaign. Or his life. Trump’s appeal in the 2016 race appears to be built on saying things that other politicians would never dream of saying. When impugning a recognized war hero, most politicians would have apologized seconds after they stepped off the stage. And, it’s possible that a comment like the one Trump made about McCain might end — or cripple — a more traditional presidential bid. Who knows — it might wind up doing so for Trump too. But it seems unlikely to. Remember that Trump’s appeal is rooted in a sort of “we’re Americans, we don’t apologize” mentality. He presents himself and by extension the country as the sort of person who says what he thinks — consequences be damned. So, no, we shouldn’t expect Donald Trump to apologize for what he said about McCain. Or, really, ever. Don’t like it? Tough. CHRIS CILLIZZA

THREE POINTERS

Zack Greinke struck out 11 in eight scoreless innings against the Nationals on Sunday.

Greinke bests Scherzer Dodgers ace extends his scoreless streak to 43⅔ innings in victory over Nationals NATIONALS The baseball calendar, on infrequent occasions, allows for delicious pitching matchups such as the one at Nationals Park on Sunday. Zack Greinke, who started for the Dodgers, hadn’t allowed a run in 352 /3 innings. Max Scherzer, who started for the Nationals, hadn’t issued a walk in 392/3 innings. Over six innings, the showdown of NL Cy Young favorites went Greinke’s way. While Scherzer pitched well, he made one small but costly mistake in a 5-0 loss. Blake Treinen inherited a onerun deficit in the ninth and gave up four runs. Greinke mowed through the Nationals’ lineup, striking out 11 batters over eight scoreless

innings. His marvelous outing extended his scoreless streak to 432 /3 innings, the longest by anyone since Orel Hersheiser’s record 59 in 1988. A day after the Nationals struggled against reigning Cy Young and MVP winner Clayton Kershaw, Greinke fooled them with his mix of command and moving, cutting and dipping pitches. The Nationals managed only four baserunners: a third-inning single by Michael A. Taylor, a fourthinning walk by Bryce Harper, a sixth-inning single by Yunel Escobar and a seventh-inning single by Clint Robinson. Taylor’s hit snapped Greinke’s streak of 28 straight batters retired, essentially a perfect game that stretched back to his last

start before the All-Star break. In a pitching matchup of this caliber, any small mistake could mean the difference and the Nationals stumbled. To start the fourth inning, Andre Ethier poked an 0-2 change-up into left field and took second base when left fielder Matt den Dekker couldn’t cleanly field the ball. Then, the Dodgers had their five-hole power-hitting All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal bunt. The sacrifice allowed Ethier to move to third base, putting pressure on Scherzer and the Nationals. After striking out Yasiel Puig on a 97 mph fastball over the plate, Scherzer bounced a slider in the dirt to Alberto Callaspo. Catcher Wilson Ramos chased down the ball and, with a good

throw, could have gotten Ethier at home plate. But Ramos threw wide of Scherzer and Ethier slid in safely to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. Scherzer struck out eight over six innings and gave the Nationals a chance to win. But with a depleted lineup against a dominant opposing pitcher, the Nationals had little room for error. Scherzer pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning but snapped his streak of consecutive innings without a walk when he threw four straight balls to Grandal. He backed some Dodgers hitters into the corner but couldn’t put them away as he usually does. Four of the seven hits he allowed were with two strikes. DAVID ELFIN (AP)

ALEX BRANDON (AP)

Aces before turning 25 The Nationals will face three of the best young arms — Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard — in their upcoming series vs. the Mets. Here are the top three under-25 pitchers in baseball. JEFFREY TOMIK (EXPRESS)

3 Jose Fernandez, 22 Miami Marlins

If he wasn’t just coming off Tommy John surgery, he’d probably be No. 1 on this list. Fernandez has a 2.26 ERA in 39 career starts.

2 Carlos Martinez, 23 St. Louis Cardinals

Teammate Michael Wacha, 24, could make a strong case to be in the top three as well. In his third season, Martinez is 10-3 with a 2.52 ERA.

1 Gerrit Cole, 24 Pittsburgh Pirates

At 13-3 with a 2.30 ERA, the 2011 No. 1 pick is in the NL Cy Young race. Cole’s average fastball velocity (95.7 mph) ranks third fastest among MLB starters this season.

Reds’ Chapman fastest to 500 Ks

Hard-throwing Reds reliever Aroldis Chapman has set a major league record for the fastest to reach 500 career strikeouts. Chapman, who routinely throws over 100 mph, reached the mark when he fanned Giovanny Urshela to end the 10th inning Sunday in Cincinnati’s game against Cleveland. The All-Star lefty needed just 292 innings to reach 500 strikeouts. The previous mark was by San Diego’s Craig Kimbrel, who got to 500 in his 305th inning on May 25. wouldn’t be too surprised by the scores I shot. It’s just lucky that it happens to be in the biggest event in the world. “Hopefully, I can do it again tomorrow,” he said. “But whether I do or not, I’ll survive either way.” Such an opportunity might not come around again for Spieth. Only three other players won the first two legs of the Grand Slam since the modern version began in 1960. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods only got one shot at it, and none ever started the final round of the British Open so close to the lead. “I’m going to play to win,” Spieth said. “I’m not playing for a

place. I don’t want to place third [today]. I want to win. And so I’m going to play my game — to stay in the mix if it’s not all there at the beginning, and if it is, I’m going to continue to play that way to try and get out in front. It’s going to be hard.” Rarely has the Old Course been as easy as it was Sunday. One day after raging winds caused a 10-hour delay and forced a Monday finish, the flags were soaked from passing showers and limp from no wind. The leaderboard was loaded with birdies, and seven players had at least a share of the lead at some point in the third round. DOUG FERGUSON (AP)

BRITISH OPEN Jordan Spieth and Paul Dunne are trying to do something that hasn’t been done in more than half a century. Spieth’s round of 66 on Sunday at St. Andrews put him one shot out of the lead and one round away from the third leg of the Grand Slam. Ben Hogan in 1953 is the only player to win the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open in the same year. Dunne’s bogey-free 66 gave him a share of the 54-hole lead, as the 22-year-old from Ireland tries to become the first amateur since Bobby Jones in 1930 to win the British Open. Making history won’t be easy, though, with a logjam near the top of the leaderboard. When a shootout at St. Andrews ended Sunday, 14 players were separated by three shots. Half of them were major champions. Joining Dunne at 12-under entering today’s final round was Louis Oosthuizen, the last player to lift the claret jug on the Old Course in 2010, and Jason Day, who also had a share of the 54hole lead at the U.S. Open. “It’s surreal I’m leading the Open, but I can easily believe that I shot the three scores that I shot,” Dunne said. “If we were playing an amateur event here, I

MUST-SEE THIS WEEK

1 MARC SILVER | BROADCAST MUSE

‘Packed in a Trunk: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson’

Silent hero: How did ‘Rectify’ pass me by for so long? Because, the sheriff explains, the wafer’s ridges can cause it to get “hung up” and refuse to emerge. Teddy has other issues. His wife, Tawney (Adelaide Clemens), has miscarried and gone to live with a friend. Plus, she has feelings for Teddy’s stepbrother, Daniel. And that brings us to the central character of this unsettling stew. Daniel is now roaming around town making everyone kind of uncomfortable after his release from prison, where he served 19 years for allegedly raping and strangling his girlfriend when he was 18 and she was 16. Even though he has confessed to the crime as part of a plea deal, he’s been freed due to conflicting DNA evidence. He’s supposed to leave Georgia within 30 days, but it doesn’t look as if he’s going anywhere soon. He’s just moved in with his sister Amantha (Abigail Spencer), the one person who’s always believed his innocence. Meanwhile, George, who might have been the real killer, has been found dead in a lake. Murder … or suicide?

$58M

When the great-niece of painter Edith Lake Wilkinson finds her belongings in an attic, she learns more about her relative, who was committed to an asylum.

2 ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!’ 9 p.m. Wednesday on Syfy

SUNDANCE

“Rectify” is not a new show. Season 3 has just begun. But somehow I never noticed it until the burst of buzz this summer. Critics are calling it the best show on TV. I don’t think it’s possible to say one show is better than any other. But this understated Southern drama (10 p.m. Thursdays on SundanceTV) is definitely one of a kind. These days, dramatic series will burn through plotlines like kindling. Take a bathroom break while watching “Empire,” and when you’re back, everything will have changed. “Rectify,” by contrast, takes it slow. Maybe that’s because it’s set in the small town of Paulie, Georgia, where things … do … not … move … quickly. But that’s not to say things don’t happen. So far this season, Teddy (Clayne Crawford) tried to get a candy bar out of a vending machine in the sheriff’s office. “My Twix is stuck,” he tells the sheriff, who notes, “Yeah, they’re tricky sometimes.”

9 p.m. Monday on HBO

Daniel (Aden Young) takes a break from the fast pace of “Rectify.”

Summer catch-up

PHILADELPHIA’: If you haven’t

Clearly, small-town life can be a trial. But it’s never dull. Take it from state senator Roland Foulkes, who as a prosecutor put Daniel in prison all those years ago: “Life is always perilous. That’s what gives it its spice.” A few scenes later, he suffers a stroke. So maybe “Rectify” really is the best — the best languidlypaced, slightly weird southern Gothic dramatic series on television today. The first two seasons are on Netflix now — better hurry and catch up before it moseys on without you.

caught on to FX’s black comedy, you’ve got the first nine seasons to binge on Netflix.

Here are some other shows you might have missed out on, and where to watch them. ‘HELL ON WHEELS’: Set around

the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad, this AMC series follows a former Confederate soldier hell-bent on vengeance. The first four seasons are on Netflix. ‘HANNIBAL’: Yes, this thriller series based on the “Silence of the Lambs” characters did just get canceled by NBC, but the first two seasons are on Amazon Prime. ‘IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN

The self-explanatory annual weather event strikes D.C., and this time, Mark Cuban, Ann Coulter, Anthony Weiner and more “celebrities” get in its path of destruction.

3 ‘I Am Cait’ 9 p.m. Sunday on E!

The massive publicity campaign related to the transition of former Olympian and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star Caitlyn Jenner continues with this new reality series. (THE WASHINGTON POST)

BOX OFFICE HAUL

The box office take of “Ant-Man” this weekend. Paul Rudd’s tiny hero edged out the little yellow guys of “Minions,” which took in $50.2 million. Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck” earned an estimated $30.2 million, the second-best opening ever for director Judd Apatow. (AP)

INVESTIGATIONS

Seacrest’s show goes door-to-door

Coroner’s officials say a 21-year-old man accidentally drowned in the backyard pool of a Los Angeles home owned by actress Demi Moore. The man was found dead at 5: 30 a.m. Sunday. Los Angeles police responded to the home in west Los Angeles after a 911 call. Police said Moore was not home at the time, and the man is not a family member. He was associated with someone who had access to the pool. His identity hasn’t been released. Authorities say Moore’s children have been having pool parties at the home, but it’s unclear if a party was going on when the drowning occurred. (AP)

On “Knock Knock Live,” premiering Tuesday on Fox, answering a knock on the door could lead to a major surprise. Host Ryan Seacrest will be in an L.A. studio while a team of helpers like Kellie Pickler and Ross Mathews arrive at the front door of people across the U.S. (Participants can apply to appear on the show or are nominated.) When they answer the door, they’re given a challenge. “Some will get cash, some will get a new car. Some will meet their celebrity crushes. Some will have a random game happen in their front yard,” Seacrest said. He’s even been practicing. “I just went down a street the other night in Los Angeles and tested it,” Seacrest said. “Most men answer the door without a shirt on.” (AP)

WORLD SURF LEAGUE

blog log

“Snapchat has a time limit for how long recipients can view their messages, one of the reasons it is more commonly associated with sexting than detective work.” BRENT A. LANG AT VARIETY.COM is

surprised to hear that the social media app hosted a murder mystery party. Eli Roth, the director of the bloodbath flick “Hostel,” produced the live show, in which Internet celebrities gathered at a mansion and were “killed off.” The show will be online for 24 hours, giving fans a limited window to figure out whodunit.

“The #sharkattack on Mick Fanning is why I didn’t become a pro surfer … also skill, balance & being able to surf” @OLDMANNATO is stunned by video of Australian surfer

Mick Fanning fighting off a shark during the J-Bay Open surfing competition on Sunday. Fanning told reporters afterward, “I was just about to start moving, and then I felt something grab, just get stuck in my leg rope. I instantly just jumped away, and then it just kept coming at my board. I was kicking and screaming. … I was waiting for the teeth to come at me as I was swimming. I punched it in the back.” Thankfully, Fanning was unharmed.

“I believe this public mood reflects a growing recognition that we all have secrets, and they are not all equally worthy of exposure.” NICK DENTON AT KINJA.COM explains

why his company, Gawker Media, removed a post this weekend that exposed married Conde Nast CFO David Geithner as texting a male escort. After the post was published Thursday, readers and journalists condemned it as outing Geithner, the brother of former Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. Gawker swiftly removed the post, but not without a lot of internet drama first.

“NBC News pulled out its ‘Nightly News’ anchor chair Saturday night for Thomas Roberts, the rugged and dashing MSNBC host who came out when it was still considered career suicide.” DAWN ENNIS AT ADVOCATE.COM is moved by Saturday evening’s news — the broadcast, that is. MSNBC host Thomas Roberts filled in as host of NBC’s “Nightly News,” making him the first out anchor of an evening newscast on a major network. Roberts led with Donald Trump’s comments about the war record of Sen. John McCain.

REVERSE TYPE II DIABETES You’re Invited to a

Free Diabetic Dinner Event A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association confirms that Type II Diabetes can be put into remission. (JAMA 2012 Dec. 19;308 (23):2489-96.) Reversing Diabetes in Just Weeks!

Topics Include: • Top 3 reasons diabetics may get worse with time. • A unique clinical approach that has been shown to facilitate the reversal of Type II Diabetes. • A look beyond genetics, weight gain, and exercise.

“This program has far exceeded my expectations. In a short two weeks after starting, I was able to come off my Insulin injection medication. My primary doctor told me I would be on Insulin for the rest of my life. I have lost about 30 pounds in just over two months. Most of my body aches have gone away. I am happy with myself and progress, which I haven’t felt proud of myself in a long time. I have received great support from the staff and my family.” - Donald Wiggins

The Dinner presentation will also discuss how many Type II Diabetics have been able to reduce and eliminate their need for prescription medication and insulin, lose weight without exercise, reduce and eliminate the risk for diabetic complications, and even become clinically non-diabetic. Also discover rarely used diagnostic testing that is helping doctors understand potential causes of diabetes beyond genetics, weight gain, dieting, and lack of exercise.

“Food Network” chef Bobby Flay and Stephanie March have finalized their contentious divorce, TMZ reported. According to the site, March contested the prenuptial agreement, which stipulated that she would receive $5,000 a month for 5 years. Though TMZ did not disclose the amount March ended up with, the site said she was able to negotiate because Flay was unwilling to go through a trial. (EXPRESS)

Adam Sandler feels that when audiences finally see his upcoming Netflix comedy, “The Ridiculous Six,” they will realize he wasn’t trying to offend anyone. The spoof takes its name from the Western classic “The Magnificent Seven” and pokes fun at the genre. Earlier this year, a group of Native American actors walked off the set, saying the film’s content was offensive to their culture. “It was just a misunderstanding and once the movie is out will be cleared up,” Sandler said Saturday at the premiere of his new film, “Pixels.” Sandler called “The Ridiculous Six” 100 percent pro-American Indian. The cast includes Sandler (who also co-wrote it), Taylor Lautner and Steve Buscemi. It premieres Dec. 11 on Netflix. (AP)

It was either this or the video of the talent show Buckingham Palace commented Saturday on images published in The Sun newspaper of 7-year-old Queen Elizabeth II performing a Nazi salute with her family in 1933. The footage, taken from a home movie, also shows Elizabeth’s mother making the salute as the family laughs. “It is disappointing that film … apparently from Her Majesty’s personal family archive, has been obtained and exploited in this manner,” the palace said.
