E.T. Should Just Phone State The New Mexico Environment Department is prohibiting two companies from excavating an Alamogordo landfill to get Atari “E.T. the Extra-terrestrial” game cartridges that were purportedly dumped there in the 1980s. Agency spokespeople say an approved waste excavation plan is needed before any digs. Fuel Entertainment and LightBox Interactive recently announced plans to search the landfill. Another Reason to Recycle Drinking at the crime scene apparently led police in Beloit, Wis., to Jason Ecklund, 34, who is suspected of robbing two garages. Ecklund was on probation for theft when the items went missing last year, and in each case the garages’ owners found a discarded beer bottle or can with Ecklund’s DNA left on it at the crime scene. Ecklund is due in court March 26. (AP)
