Η ιδέα της προτεινόµενης παρέµβασης εστιάζεται στην επανεγκαθίδρυση της ισχυρής σχέσης ανάµεσα στη θάλασσα και στην πόλη, η οποία χάθηκε µε τα έργα για τις υπάρχουσες υποδοµές και τον «νέο χώρο» για τους Ολυµπιακούς Αγώνες. Αυτή η σύνδεση «κτίζεται» συγχρόνως προς τις δύο κατευθύνσεις: από την πόλη προς τη θάλασσα επεκτείνοντας την αστική δοµή των Αθηνών και από τη θάλασσα προς την πόλη, µε τη φύτευση δέντρων σε κάθε δυνατό σηµείο δίπλα στους δρόµους και σε όλους τους άδειους χώρους. Η σχεδιαστική προσέγγιση για το πάρκο είναι η σύλληψη της Παραλίας Φαλήρου ως δυναµικού παράκτιου τοπίου που θα δρα ως φίλτρο ανάµεσα στην πόλη και τη θάλασσα. Καθώς η νέα ακτογραµµή αναπτύχθηκε µέσα από σειρά µπαζωµάτων, σκοπός µας είναι να αντιµετωπίσουµε το χώρο αυτό ως έναν ανοιχτό χώρο που αντηχεί τα δυναµικά χαρακτηριστικά µιας µεσογειακής παραλίας. The concept of the proposed intervention focuses in re-establishing the strong connection between the sea and the city that was lost with the construction of the existing infrastructure and the “new land” for the Olympics Games. This connection is “build” in both direction: from the city to the sea extending the urban texture of Athens and from the sea to the city by planting trees in every possible place, along the street and in the empty areas. The design approach for the park is to conceive the Faliron Waterfront as a dynamic coastal landscape that will act as the filter between the city and the sea. As the new coastline was developed through a series of landfills, we intend to conceive this space as an open space that echoes the dynamic characteristics of a Mediterranean waterfront.
