HISTORY

History is alive in Middleton Learn about the history of Middleton and why it's stronger here. The Middleton community traces its beginnings to an 1832 settlement at what is now Mendota County Park & Campground (see page 9). In 1856, the area was being referred to as Middleton and was officially platted. The village officially became a city in 1963. In 2013, Middleton celebrated 50 years of cityhood. Blacksmith Shop 2645 Branch Street • See map: D6 Dates to the 1850s. Served travelers who came to the Stamm House. Club Tavern n (See page 17 for more information) 1915 Branch Street • See map: F6 608.836.3773 • clubtavern.com Built between 1860 and 1880 as the boarding house and stables for Stamm House. Club Tavern opened in 1921 and remained open through Prohibition.
