Erie Insurance Erie Insurance’s founder, H.O. Hirt, used to say, “Know your stuff. Believe your stuff. Do your stuff.’’ More than 80 years after Hirt founded the company, we’re doing pretty much the same stuff he did way back then. “Yeah, RIGHT,” you’re thinking, and sure— you have a point. In 1925, it was just Hirt and his buddy O.G. Crawford running the show; today, we’re nearly 4,300 employees and 8,800 agents strong. For the past five years, U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” has ranked Gannon as a Top Tier university in the northern section of the United States. And, for the fourth straight year, Gannon has been ranked as a “Best Value” university in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category. Gannon’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) assists an average of 700 local business owners each year.
