Ya en la recta final del curso 2013-14, nos embarcamos en la sexta entrega de la revista de la EOI Boadilla, una ventana por la que asomarse a la actividad diaria de nuestra enseñanza. Los idiomas siguen siendo una de las mayores garantías de desarrollo personal y profesional. En nuestro país estamos dando pasos de gigante desde hace años en la mejora de la capacidad lingüística, y desde la EOI Boadilla queremos contribuir decididamente a dicha mejora. Son cada vez más las personas que aprenden alemán, francés e inglés en nuestra Escuela, con una metodología moderna y estimulante y unas magníficas instalaciones, y lo que es más importante, con un equipo humano entregado y entusiasta. Durante este curso hemos recibido numerosos invitados para nuestras actividades extraescolares, como se podrá ver en estas páginas, tratando así de enriquecer y aportar diversidad lingüística y cultural al aprendizaje. Hemos colaborado con la ONG Agua de Coco con varias actividades, entre ellas la exposición fotográfica sobre trabajo infantil que tuvo lugar en febrero, y hemos recibido la visita de sus voluntarios, que nos han hablado en alemán, francés e inglés. Tanto a alumnos como a profesores nos ha admirado el trabajo que realiza en África esta organización. Como novedades interesantes, hemos visto representaciones teatrales en inglés y francés, y el nacimiento, por iniciativa de los alumnos del Consejo Escolar, de un grupo teatral que promete sorprendernos próximamente con una representación. Tenemos un nuevo logotipo para nuestra Escuela, diseñado por Patricia Salgado, ganadora del concurso que se falló en diciembre. Seguimos profundizando en la mejora de nuestra página web, tratando de ofrecer un servicio informativo de mayor calidad. Los profesores han participado en grupos de trabajo y proyectos de formación que sin duda repercutirán positivamente en la práctica docente. Hemos recibido en nuestro centro a César del Río, alumno en prácticas del Máster de Formación del Profesorado de la UCM. En definitiva, un curso lleno de oportunidades de aprendizaje y de experiencias compartidas. No quisiéramos terminar estas líneas sin agradecer una vez más el constante apoyo y colaboración del Exmo. Bueno, pues ahora estoy en el nivel avanzado de inglés, que he tenido que parar, por desgracia o por suerte, porque he comenzado a trabajar. Tuve un parón también cuando se produjo el cambio de plan de estudios, al comenzar mis estudios universitarios, y luego he retomado el inglés cuando he visto que podía compaginarlo con la arquitectura.

Cuéntanos cómo fue el proceso de elaboración.

Bueno, pues fue todo idea de mi padre –él también está estudiando en la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas-. Fue el primero que vio la convocatoria del concurso, y me animó a presentarme, pues sabe que me gustan mucho estos temas. Yo había hecho ya antes alguna cosa de diseño gráfico, con lo cual decidí probar.

Pues primero utilicé bocetos a mano alzada, con lápiz, y luego –cuando ya sabía lo que quería hacer- entrelacé los bocadillos: le das vueltas dibujando varias veces lo mismo hasta que se te ocurre una cosa que pueda quedar mejor que las demás, hasta que decides hacer esto. Entonces utilicé Photoshop, que es el programa que utilizo para diseño gráfico.

¿Cómo se te ocurrió la imagen del logo, con esa imagen de dos rostros uno enfrente de otro?

Has comentado que tienes alguna experiencia en diseño gráfico. ¿trabajas o estudias alguna actividad artística?

Trabajo como arquitecta, y en arquitectura nos inculcan mucho el diseño, tanto gráfico como arquitectónico o de otros tipos, con lo cual sé utilizar el programa y sé algo sobre diseño.

El reto era hacer una imagen sencilla, fácil de reproducir, y que se prestara a que la gente se quedara con esa imagen. Como en la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas se fomenta la comunicación oral mediante los idiomas, decidí utilizar viñetas, bocadillos como los que se utilizan mucho en los comics para representar esa idea. Escuela Oficial de Idiomas, decidí unificar las cosas, de modo que los bocadillos formaran parte del nombre: sustituir esas “O”s de “Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Boadilla”, por unos bocadillos, unas viñetas. Lo que hacen esas caras es fomentar la idea de la comunicación oral.

En primer lugar, queríamos preguntarte por qué decidiste participar en este concurso.

Durante el pasado otoño se convocó el concurso de logotipos para la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Boadilla del Monte. El objetivo era tener un emblema que identifique a nuestro centro a primera vista, que fuera fácil de reconocer y recordar, contribuyendo así a dotar a la EOI de una imagen con personalidad. La respuesta a nuestra convocatoria fue excelente: se presentaron en total 17 logos (el último de ellos, fuera de plazo) de una gran calidad artística. La ganadora del concurso fue Patricia Salgado Muñoz, alumna de Nivel Avanzado de inglés, quien generosamente nos ha cedido su diseño para nuestro centro. Durante el pasado mes de marzo tuvimos ocasión de charlar con Patricia. A continuación presentamos la entrevista mantenida.

FIESTA DE NAVIDAD Mª Amparo Mena. Departamento de Inglés

El 19 de diciembre celebramos nuestra ya tradicional fiesta de Navidad. Como en años anteriores contamos con la asistencia de numerosos alumnos.

El programa de la fiesta estaba compuesto por diversas actividades. Se hizo entrega del premio al concurso de logos de la Escuela. Hay que decir que la elección del mismo fue difícil dada la calidad de los logos presentados al concurso.

Villancicos en idiomas.

La exposición fue organizada por la ONG Agua de Coco y la EOI Boadilla. Las representantes de Agua de Coco nos explicaron el origen de las instantaneas y las circunstancias en que las fotos fueron tomadas, y nos dieron cuenta del trabajo admirable que la ONG está

realizando con la infancia en Madagascar, sacándola de la pobreza y del trabajo infantil. Se instaló un mercadillo de productos de artesanía de Madasgascar. Fue un memorable encuentro de toda la comunidad educativa, con un importante contenido solidario.

A continuación se cantaron villancicos en los tres idiomas impartidos en la Escuela: alemán, francés e inglés. Este año hemos contado con una novedad y es la de una representación teatral en forma de sketches en francés e inglés, que tuvo gran éxito. Hemos de agradecer a los alumnos que participaron en ellas su entusiasmo y dedicación pues consiguieron unas magníficas representaciones a pesar del poco tiempo con el que han contado para su preparación. El público disfrutó enormemente de las actuaciones. La Escuela quiso agradecer a los actores su participación mediante la entrega de unos libros de lecturas graduadas. Finalmente hubo un pequeño refrigerio en el hall. Como siempre contamos con la desinteresada y entusiasta ayuda de Esperanza y Vicenta a las que queremos expresar nuestro agradecimiento en esta revista.

Actuación teatral en forma de sketches.

El pasado 17 de febrero se inauguró la exposición “Trabajo Infantil: realidad de la infancia en Madagascar”, una interesantísima muestra fotográfica con instantáneas de Javier Martínez, Víctor Luengo, y Pierrot Men. Asistieron al acto D. Antonio González Terol, Alcalde-Presidente de Boadilla, Dña. Mª Paños, Concejala de Educación y otros representantes municipales, así como el personal y el alumnado de la EOI.

Este año la escuela ha participado con la ONG Agua de Coco. A fin de recoger dinero para esta ONG, se han sorteado cestas de Navidad con productos navideños típicos de los tres países cuyas lenguas se imparten en esta escuela. Asimismo se organizó un mercadillo con objetos típicos de Madagascar, que es uno de los países donde esta ONG está presente. El dinero recogido con la venta de papeletas para este sorteo y con el mercadillo fue entregado al representante de Agua de Coco D. Alfonso Alejandre, quien agradeció la generosidad mostrada por nuestros alumnos.

CHARLA SOBRE FONÉTICA DEL ALEMÁN Carmen Gómez Savino. NB1

El 26 de Noviembre de 2013 los alumnos del curso del nivel Básico I de Alemán, tuvimos el privilegio de asistir a una charla extraordinaria a cargo de la Profesora Mª Jesús Gil, experta en fonética de la lengua alemana. Mª Jesús Gil supo atraer nuestra máxima atención gracias a su excelente conocimiento de la materia, su pedagogía y sobre todo a la forma tan amena y participativa en que condujo la sesión.

Letzten Monat hat Leo Thoma unsere Sprachschule besucht. Er ist in Aschaffenburg geboren und er hat Literatur und Philosophie in München studiert. Er hat als Deutschlehrer gearbeitet und hat auch sehr schöne Erzähungen für Deutschlerner geschrieben. Kurzgeschichten von ganz normalen Menschen in ihren Alltagssituationen, aber immer mit viel Sympathie und Verständnis. Wir haben zwei dramatische Lesungen genossen: Der Stromausfall aus dem Buch “Die Blaumacherin” und das Idealpaar, aus dem gleichnamigen Buch.

Nos llevamos todos una sorpresa cuando nos dijo que la mayor dificultad de la pronunciación del Alemán no era el tamaño de sus palabras o la cantidad de consonantes en una sola, como algunos indicaron, sino la cantidad de vocales o sonidos vocálicos distintos que tiene este idioma: quince, ocho largas o tensas (a,e,i,o,u,ä,ö,ü) y siete breves o no tensas (a,e,i,o,u,ö,ü) , ¡el triple que en Español!

Los sonidos de las consonantes son también muy variados, las hay con vibración como la “S”, o sopladas como la “T”, la ”P”, la ”C” o la ”D”, y consonantes que según su posición dentro de la palabra pueden sonar o no, por ejemplo la “R” (fahren, der). Otro aspecto importante que destacó fue que en Alemán dentro de una frase, no se une la consonante final de una palabra con la vocal de la siguiente, se pronuncian siempre separadas, esto confiere al idioma un ritmo muy particular y característico. Después de las explicaciones y pronunciaciones de los distintos sonidos en palabras y frases, la profesora nos pidió

No dio tiempo para más, pero si algo nos quedó claro a todos es que es de vital importancia pronunciar correctamente las palabras si queremos hacernos entender en Alemán, no es como el Español, que reviste menor dificultad en este sentido. La tensión de una vocal cambia el significado de la palabra. Normalmente las vocales breves aparecen seguidas por doble consonante, por ejemplo: bitte, kommen.

a los asistentes que nos presentáramos pronunciando nuestro nombre en Alemán. Realizamos varios ejercicios de pronunciación mediante juegos, uno de ellos muy divertido: pronunciar una frase en alemán con la boca llena, para lo cual nos dio a masticar una magdalena.

Die Lesungen waren sehr spannend und interessant und sehr einfach zu verstehen, weil Leo sehr expressiv und lustig war. Guter Schauspieler! Es war leicht, sich die verschiedenen Charaktere in jeder Geschichte vorzustellen und das Vokabular zu verstehen!

Interview mit Belén Pliego Mitarbeiterin von der Stiftung Agua de Coco 1.-Warum heißt die Hilfsorganisation “Agua de Coco”?

José Luis Guirao, ein Spanier aus Granada, hat unsere Organisation 1994 in Kamboscha gegründet. Dort hatte man in der Nachkriegszeit das Wasser, das im Innern der Kokosnussfrüchte ist, benutzt, um die Verletzten und Kranken zu heilen, sowohl für externe Hautwunden als auch im inneren menschlichen Blutkreislauf gespritzt. Dieses Wasser hat viele Eigenschaften: Vitamine, Mineralien usw. und weil sie sich im Innern der Frucht befinden, ist es auch steril und geeignet für den medizinischen Gebrauch. Das Kokosnusswasser ist das Medikament der armen Leute, ein einfaches und billiges Mittel, mit dem man ihnen helfen kann. Deswegen hat man sich für dieses Symbol entschieden.

Nach der Schule habe ich mich für ein Naturschutzstudium entschieden, und deswegen habe ich Umweltschutzwissenschaften in Alcalá de Henares studiert (Ciencias Ambientales). Damals war das ein interessanter neuer Studiengang und ich habe dort mein Diplom gemacht.

3.- Was sind Sie von Beruf?

Später habe ich mich dann auch noch für ein Kulturwissenschaftliches Studium interessiert und dazu Deutsche Philologie an der Universidad Complutense abgeschloßen, während ich noch gleichzeitig meine Arbeit an Naturschutzprojekte und Deutschunterricht entwickelt habe. Heute bin ich Deutschlehrerin an den EOIs von Madrid, aber ich habe noch keinen festen Platz.

Letzte Woche haben wir über die Stiftung Agua de Coco etwas gelernt. Diese Hilfsorganisation arbeitet in vielen Ländern zum Beispiel Magadaskar und Kambodscha.

Agua de Coco heiβt so, weil die Kokosnuss ein Obst mit vielen Eigenschaften ist. Belén war zweimal in Magadaskar. Sie ist freiwillige Mitarbeiterin bei Agua de Coco. Sie arbeitet gern mit Kindern, die kein Geld haben. Sie sind meistens Analphabeten. Belén will, dass die Kinder zur Schule gehen. Das ist manchmal schwierig, weil sie das Geld brauchen und arbeiten müssen. Wir haben ihre Häuser gesehen. Die Häuser sind dunkel und sie haben kein Wasser oder Strom.

6.-Welche Erfahrung war die wichtigste für Sie?

2.-Warum haben Sie sich für die Hilfsorganisation Agua de Coco engagiert?

Ich habe die Organisation 2009 zufälligerweise kennengelernt. Eine Freundin, Rosa, hat mich und andere Freunde überredet, zu einem Konzert der Malagasy Gospel (ein Mädchenchor aus Madagaskar www.malagasygospel.org) zu gehen. Dort habe ich, zusammen mit einer Freundin, Bea, José Luis kennengelernt. Er hat damals Naturschutzspezialisten für ein Projekt gesucht, und Bea und ich sind dann zusammen nach Madagaskar im Februar 2010 geflogen, um ein ganz neues Projekt über den Mangrovenwald bei Null anzufangen. Natürlich als Freiwillige! In unseren Arbeitsferien haben wir unsere eigene Reise bezahlt und dort eine wunderschöne Möglichkeit genossen, dieses faszinierendes Land kennenzulernen und dabei ein bisschen mitzuhelfen!

Während unserer Feldarbeit haben wir dort nicht nur an diesem Mangrovenwaldprojekt mitgemacht, sondern auch viele andere soziale Projekte der NGO kennengelernt und verstanden, wie viel man mit wie wenigen Medien machen kann und wie nützlich ganz einfache Sachen waren. Ich war total begeistert! Ich habe gesehen, wie man dort arbeitet und was man genau direkt auf dem Feld macht, und das hat mich überzeugt!

Die Arbeit macht mir Spaß und sie ist total abwechslungsreich! Man kann sich alles mögliche vorstellen. Aber das Beste ist, das ich das mache, weil ich will!

4.- Sind Sie zufrieden mit ihrer Arbeit bei Agua de Coco?

Ja, sehr! Es ist sehr schön, sich nützlich zu fühlen, ich liebe andere Kulturen und Menschen kennenlernen, die Arbeit ist sehr kreativ und man hat jeden Tag neue Sachen zu entwickeln, Aufgaben, die man normalerweise in einer „normalen“ Arbeit nicht macht. Das Beste ist die Gruppenarbeit, die man größtenteils mit Freiwilligen Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern macht. Es ist erstaunlich, wie viel man schaffen kann, mit einer Gruppe von Menschen, die denken, dass man die Sachen anders machen kann, und zwar freiwillig. Wir alle arbeiten für eine bessere Welt. Viele Sachen!! Und alle sehr unterschiedlich!! Hier in Madrid organisieren wir besonders viele Veranstaltungen, wie zum Beispiel: Konzerte, Sportveranstaltungen, Ausstellungen usw. aber auch andere informative Veranstaltungen, wie zum Beispiel dieses Gespräch, damit man uns kennenlernt.

5.- Was machen Sie genau?

Sie lächeln immer, sind immer freundlich und kommunkativ. Alle Berufe sind willkommen! Und jeder Mensch kann etwas beitragen! Wir brauchen besonders Leute, die dort andere lokale Leute ausbilden können, also Lehrer oder Leute, die lehren wollen, wie z. B. Informatiker, EDV und Datenbankmanager, Buchhalter, Krankenpfleger, Sportlehrer, usw. Wenn man nach Madagaskar reisen will, ist es empfehlenswert, Französisch zu können.

Ich habe viel Glück, denn mein Haus ist mein Traumhaus! Ich hatte immer von dem geträumt. Es ist modern, steht in Boadilla del Monte und liegt vor einem Wald. Das Haus ist 400 Quadratmeter groβ, verteilt in drei Stöcke, hat einen Garten mit Blumen und Bäumen, eine Garage und eine Terrasse, sehr schön. Dort haben wir viel Spaβ im Sommer. Im Erdgeschoss sind die Diele, ein Arbeitszimmer, eine Toilette, die Waschküche, die Garage und ein Abstellraum. Im ersten Stock gibt es einen Flur, das Wohnzimmer, die Küche, zwei Kinderzimmer, ein Gästezimmer, zwei Bäder, die Terrasse und den Garten.

EIN SCHÖNER TAG EIN BESONDERER MONAT MÄRZ 1996

Im März 1996 habe ich meine erste Reise nach Europa gemacht. Ich mit meiner Frau Reina sind am Donnerstag, dem 29. Februar von Caracas nach Madrid geflogen. Wir haben nur zwei Rucksäcke, zwei Eurailpass Bahntickets und einen Reiseführer mitgebracht. Natürlich haben wir auch etwas Geld mitgebracht. Wir sind am Freitag, dem 1. März Morgen in Barajas Flughafen angekommen. Wir haben ein schönes Zimmer im Rober Gasthaus in der Arenal Straße bei der Puerta del Sol gefunden. Das Wetter war kalt, wir sind in der ersten Woche nach Andalusien gefahren. Am Montag, dem 4. März, haben wir den ICE nach Sevilla genommen. Wir haben Sevilla, Cordoba und Granada

besucht: Den Guadalquivir Fluss, das Triana Viertel, den Gold Turm, La Giralda, Die Domkirche, den Maria Luisa Park, die Moscheekathedrale, La Alhambra, etc. Sehr schön die Städte und die Leute. Die Woche danach sind wir nach Madrid zurückgekommen. Hier sind wir in den Zug nach Paris eingestiegen. 18 Stunden hat die Fahrt nach Paris gedauert. Vier Tage in Paris. Drei Tage in Genf, zwei Tage in Zürich, zwei Tage in Venedig, zwei Tage in Florenz, drei Tage in Rom. Danach Monaco, Nizza, Cannes, Marseille und Barcelona. Wir sind fast eine Woche in Barcelona gewesen. Da haben wir Montjuic, den Güell Park, den Barceloneta Strand, die Sagrada Familia Kathedrale, das Gaudi Museum, La Rambla Straße,

Um 8:00 Uhr frühstücke ich einen Kaffee und zwei Toastbrote. Ich lese mein Notizbuch. Ich habe „einen Ausflug“ geschrieben: Rad fahren. Ich habe meinen Bruder Andrés zu einer Fahrradtour in die Berge eingeladen. Es ist Samstag und es ist 9:00 Uhr und wir fahren früh ab.

In der letzten Woche, vom 1. bis 7. April sind wir nach Madrid zurückgekommen. Hier haben wir den Feldhaus Park, die Almudena Kathedrale, El Prado Museum, Königin Sofia Museum, den Königspalast, den Hauptplatz, den Ostplatz, den Spanienplatz, den Westpark, den Kastilienplatz, die Seilbahn, el Retiro park, La Puerta de Alcalá und La Cibeles Platz besucht.

Karneval

Am Abend haben wir viel gelacht und Käsebrötchen und Salate gegessen. Danach haben wir die Hochzeitstorte gegessen und Champagner getrunken. In der Nacht haben wir in die Disco getanzt und sehr Spaß gehabt.

Wir möchten Piazza San Marco, Basilica di San Marco und Palazzo Ducale besuchen aber hatten Keine Karte. Wir haben die Frau gefragt:

“Gehen Sie rechts, dann gehen Sie geradeaus und am Theater vorbei, später gehen sie noch einmal rechts bis zum Moises Hotel, nach dem Hotel gehen Sie geradeus bis zur Piazza San Marco.” “Vielen Dank, sehr nett”, wir haben geantwortet Um 17:00 Uhr sind wir auf dem Platz angekommen. Wir haben einen Spaziergang gemacht und wir haben viele Leute fotografiert. Sie hatten eine Verkleidung und eine Maske . Wir hatten viel Spass.

Letzten Samstag hatte ich eine schönen Tag. Mein Lieblingstag ist der Samstag.

In El Escorial haber wir Brot mit Wurst und Käse gegessen.

Dann hatten wir Hunger und Durst. Wir haben San Stefano Pizzeria Restaurant gesehen. Die Speisekarte war super. Als Vorspeise haben wir eine Käseplatte gegessen, als Hauptgericht Spaghetti mit Tomatensauce, als Dessert Schokoladenkuchen hausegemacht. Wir haben ein Bier getrunken.

“Natürlich, das ist in der Nähe”, hat die Frau gesagt.

Letzten Sommer war die Hochzeit von meiner Tante Nuria und die ganze Familie war da. Wir haben sie in einem Garten in Madrid gefeiert. Es war so kalt und ich habe ein schönes und rosa Kleid getragen.

Im Februar sind wir nach Venedig geflogen. Wir möchten gern Karneval feiern. Am Vormittag sind wir angekommen, später sind wir in den Ponte di Rialto in eine Gondel eingestiegen und bis zum St. Maria Gaglio gefahren. Das war toll!.

Wir sind fünf Stunden gefahren aber wir haben gelacht.

Wir sind glücklich!. Alles war gut!.

Den Karneval in Venedig gibt es seit 1700. Er ist jedes Jahr im Februar und dauert zehn Tage.

Zu Ostern haben wir zu viele Prozessionen gesehen. Am Sonntag, dem 7. April, sind wir nach Caracas geflogen. In 38 Tagen haben wir 14 Städte in 4 Ländern besucht. März 1996 war ein besonder Monat.

Wir fahren aus Boadilla ab und wir komem in El Escorial an.

Um 18:00 Uhr sind wir zu Hause angekommen.

Letzten Samstag habe ich bis 9:00 Uhr geschlafen und habe mit meine Freunde lange gefrühstückt. Wir haben Croissants gegessen und Orangesaft getrunken. Später bin ich nach Villalba gegangen und ich habe mit meinen Freunden Fußball gespielt. Am Mittag haben wir in der Knipe ein Bier getrunken. Um 13:30 Uhr bin ich zu meiner Mutter und ich habe meine

Familie getroffen. Dann haben wir einen Braten mit Kartoffeln gegessen. Um 17:00 Uhr sind meine Freunde und ich lange spazieren gegangen. Wir lieben die Natur und wir gehen gern spazieren. Danach sind wir ins Kino gegangen. Wir gehen manchmal ins Kino, zweimal pro Monat. Um 21:00 Uhr sind wir nach Hause gegangen und wir haben eine Pizza gegessen und eine Cola getrunken. Dann habe ich ein Fußballspiel gesehen.

EINE SCHÖNE WOCHE

l Irene Cavero - NB1

Letztes Jahr, im März, bin ich mit meiner Freundin Susana nach Deutschland gefahren. Wir haben unseren Freund Matteo besucht. Er kommt aus Italien, aber er war als Erasmus Student in Mainz.

Frankfurt gefahren. Wir haben viel Spaß gehabt! Wie haben Matteos Freunde gesehen. Sie kommen aus Deutschland, aus Italien und aus Frankreich. Die Woche war wirklich sehr lustig; mit Freunden reisen macht Spaß! Am Sonntag sind wir nach Madrid zurückgeflogen.

Wir sind nach Frankfurt am Main geflogen. Der Flug hat zwei Stunden gedauert. Danach sind wir in die SBahn eingestiegen, und dann sind wir in Mainz angekommen. Wir haben Matteo im Hauptbahnhof getroffen. Später sind wir in den Bus eingestiegen und wir sind bei Matteo angekommen.

Wir haben Matteo noch einmal gesehen, er und unsere Freundin Stani sind im Herbst nach Madrid geflogen. Wir waren zusammen bei mir, wir haben Madrid besucht und haben viel gelacht. Im Sommer möchten wir noch einmal zusammen reisen.

Letzte Woche haben drei Freundinnen und ich einen Ausflug nach Valencia gemacht. Leider war die Fahrt sehr lang aber wir sind gut angekommen.

Ich habe viel fotografiert, vielleicht fünfzig Fotos. Das war richtig toll! Valencia war wirklich super.

ROCK KONZERT IN LANDSHUT

TANZ IM JUNI UND DEZEMBER

Jedes vierte Jahr feiert man eine internationale Exposition in irgendeinem Land. Das Event ist im Sommer, dauert acht Wochen und hat zwei bis vier Millionen Besucher.

Vom 1. bis 15. August gibt es free Rock Konzerte jeden Mittwoch in Landshut, Deutschland.

Meine Töchter tanzen jährlich seit 2007. Es ist im Juni und Dezember. Sie tanzen gern und sie gehen zu einer Tanzschule. Sie üben den Tanz während Monaten und sie tanzen mit vielen Mädchen. Sie tanzen in einem Theater. Der Auftritt dauert sechzig Minuten. Es kommen etwa zwei bis vier hundert Zuschauer. Die Zuschauer sind die Eltern. Ihnen gefällt der Auftritt.

Im Juli 2008 sind wir zur Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spanien gefahren. Das Thema war das Wasser von dem Planet. Die Exposition war sehr interessant und groß. Viele Länder haben teilgenommen.

Es hat uns sehr gefallen und es hat viel Spaß gemacht! Wir waren vier Tage dort und haben auch die Stadtmitte besichtigt.

Letzten August war ich mit meiner Familie und Freunden da. Das Konzert hat man am Abend im Park gefeiert. Wir haben das Abendessen mitgebracht (Käsebrot, Schinkenbrot, Kartoffelomelett …) und Getränke eingekauft (Bier, Cola, Wasser…). Wir haben auf dem Rasen gesessen und gegessen. Später haben wir getanzt. Wir haben viele Freunde getroffen.

Letzten Samstag bin ich um 7.00 Uhr aufgestanden, dann habe ich gefrüstückt und danach habe ich ein Taxi genommen. Ich bin zum Flughagen gefahren. Da habe ich meine Freundin getroffen. Wir sind um 11.00 Uhr eingestiegen. Die Reise nach Lissabon hat eine Stunde gedauert und dann sind wir zum Hotel gegangen. Um 14.30 Uhr sind wir zum Mittagessen gegangen und später von 16.00 Uhr bis

19.00 Uhr, haben wir die alte Stadt besucht. Sie ist sehr schön!.

Dann haben wir Geschenke eingekauft und am Abend haben wir im Restaurant gegessen.

Das war vor sechs Jahren. Victoria war sechs Jahre alt. Yago war vier. Sie hatten eine Geburtstagsparty bei “Mickey”.

Wir haben viel Spaß gehabt!

Sie haben viele Lieder gesungen und mit viele Freunde viel getanzt.

Am Sonntag morgen haben wir eingepackt und wir sind nach Hause zurück gefahren.

Es war sehr lustig für sie.

Zuerst sind wir ins Hotel gefahren und wir haben geschlafen. Später sind wir zum Strand gegangen. Wir sind viel geschwommen und haben viele nette Leute getroffen.

Am Samstagabend hat meine Freundin Geburtstag gefeiert. Wir haben im Restaurant zu Abend gegessen, getanzt und gesungen.

Estrella González. NB2 In meiner Freizeit ruhe ich mich am Wochenende ganz gern aus. Ich möchte nichts Besonderes machen!

aber leider habe ich jetzt keine Zeit. Mir gefiel auch Handarbeiten zu machen, noch jetzt!

Am Freitag kann ich ein leckeres Abendessen vorbereiten und danach, vielleicht, sehe ich einen schönen Film im Fernsehen. So entspanne ich mich ganz schön.

Unter der Woche mache ich oft lange Spaziergänge oder schwimme.

Aber manchmal gehe ich ins Gebirge. Wandern ist für mich ein gesundes Hobby; es gefällt mir sehr und auch meiner Familie. Als Kind habe ich auch ganz gern rhytmische Sportgymnastik gemacht. Ich spielte auch Klavier,

Aber man muss nicht immer etwas Besonderes machen...Musik hören,ein schönes Buch lesen, mit der Familie sprechen und etwas gemeinsam machen freut mich sehr. Wir treffen uns auch mit Freunden, wir laden sie ein oder gehen zusammen ins Theater. Aber das Beste ist die Ruhe!!

In meiner Freizeit mag ich zeichnen. Als ich ein kleines Mädchen war, habe ich viele Trickfilme gesehen. Ich will diese Persönlichkeiten in meinem Heft haben. Jeden Tag habe ich viele Zeichnungen gemacht. Jetzt habe ich weniger Freizeit und ich zeichne nicht so oft, aber einmal im Monat mache ich eine kleine Zeichnung für meinen Mann.

Mit 14 Jahren bin ich auf das Gymnasium gegangen. Der Stundenplan war von 8 Uhr bis 14:30 Uhr mit vielen Fächern jedes Jahr. Meine Noten im Gymnasium waren sehr gut in fast allen Fächern außer in Geschichte. Meine Liebligsfächer waren Englisch und Mathematik. Meine Mitschüler waren dieselben in der Grundschule und im Gymnasium, obwohl sie aus verschiedenen Schulen waren. Wir sind jetzt gute Freundinnen. Ich war in dem Gymnasium 4 Jahre lang und danach, im letzten Jahr, habe ich das Abitur gemacht. Ich habe für die Prüfung viel gelernt , viele Stunden und viele Nächte bis 4 am, aber ich habe die endlich mit guten Noten bestanden, und ich könnte zur Universität gehen

Ich habe mich schon immer für Animation interessiert. Wenn es einen neuen Animationsfilm im Kino gibt, muss ich gehen.

Mit 3 Jahren bin ich in den Kindergarten gegangen, und mit 6 in die Grundschule. Auf der Grundschule war ich 8 Jahre lang. Um 9 Uhr begann ich die Schule bis 13 Uhr; wir hatten zwei Uhr Pause zum Essen und danach die Pause, von 3 bis 5 Uhr. Ich hatte Schuluniform aber nur in der Grundschule, sie war so: ein grauer Rock mit einer blauen Bluse.

Ich war in der Universität, weil ich das Abitur machen musste. Die Lehrerin begann die Studenten für die Prüfung zu rufen, weil mein Familienname Moro ist, musste ich lange warten.

Ich erinnere mich, dass ich mit meinen Freunden sprach, wir waren sehr nervös! Ich studierte Literatur und dann sagte die Lehrerin meinen Namen.

Ich weiβ nicht, ob diese Situation die längste in meinem Leben war, aber ich erinnere mich an einen Tag, der sehr langweilig war und ich musste ein bisschen von “El Quijote“ lesen. Nach fünf Minuten hatte ich nichts verstanden und das war so schwer, dass mehr Zeit vergangen ist, als ich dachte.

Meine längsten fünf Minuten im Leben waren als ich La Celestina gelesen habe. Meine Spanischlehrerin hat mir gesagt, dass ich La Celestina lesen musste. Es ist das langweiligste Buch in der ganzen Welt. Ich habe kein Wort verstanden, und es war sehr spät, deshalb wollte ich ins Bett gehen, aber ich konnte nicht, weil ich eine Prüfüng am nächsten Tag hatte und ich hatte nicht das Buch gelesen.

Deutsch EOI Boadilla Eine peinliche Situation José Luis Millán. NI1 Als ich kleiner war und ich in Großbritannien wohnte, erinnere ich mich an eine peinliche Situation. Ich war mit meiner Familie und ich war mit ihnen geärgert. Wir sind im London spazieren gegangen und ich bin weit weg mit meinem bösem Gesicht gegangen. Eine Frau,die spazieren gegangen ist, schaute auf mich sonderbar und ich habe ihr im Spanish gesagt: “ Was schaust du?”. Sie hat mir geantwortet, auch in Spanish: “ Das ist dir egal!” Ich war schockiert und ich bin zu meiner Familie gelaufen und sie haben über mich gelacht. Ich war nicht mehr böse, weil ich überrascht war. Jetzt weiß ich, dass Leute in anderen Ländern meine Sprache sprechen können.

OHNE HANDY LEBEN Ich denke, dass ich auf mein Handy verzichten könnte. Ich rufe nicht zu viel an, weil ich nicht viel am Handy reden mag. Ich benutze es nur um mit meiner Familie zu sprechen. Aber ich kann auch das Festnetz und den Computer benutzen, wenn ich mich mit anderen Verwandten oder mit Freunden von anderen Ländern unterhalten will. Deswegen denke ich, dass ich mir ein Leben ohne Handy vorstellen könnte. Blanca Fernández. NI1

Eine peinliche Situation Vor zwei Jahren war ich mit einer Freundin, die Belén heißt. Wir sahen ein Programm über Häuser im Fernsehen und am Ende vom Programm konnten wir lesen, dass die Filmemacherin von der Reportage Choni hieß. Ich begann zu lachen, denn ich dachte, dass der Name sehr hässlich war. Ich fragte meine Freundin: “wer hat einen Namen, der so schrecklich ist? Belén beantwortete: “Meine Mutter”. Ich glaubte, dass Belén mich anlog, dass es ein Scherz war; deshalb lachte ich mehr. Nach fünf Minuten bemerkte ich, dass Belén mich nicht anlog. Ihre Mutter heißt Choni und ich hatte viel Zeit über ihrem Namen gelacht. Ich war sehr rot, es war eine sehr peinliche Situation!

Jetzt brauchen wir das Handy zum Telefonieren, um SMS zu schicken, um im Internet zu surfen, um E-Mails zu kontrollieren… Wir können mit dem Handy alles machen, weil es leichter ist. Ich bin sicher, dass ich nicht ohne Mobiltelefon leben könnte, deshalb kann ich mir mein Leben nicht ohne Handy vorstellen.

HANDY leben OHNE HANDY LEBEN Handys sind eine der besten Erfindungen, sie machen das Leben leichter. Ich könnte auf das Handy verzichten, aber das Leben ohne Handy ist ziemlich komplizierter. Wenn du ein Handy hast, bist du immer erreichbar, das kann ein Vorteil oder Nachteil sein. Für meine Eltern, zum Beispiel, ist es sehr wichtig, dass ich ein Handy habe, so dass sie mit mir reden können und auch wissen, wo ich bin. Aber Handys können auch süchtig machen. Ein Leben ohne Handy ist sehr schwer für die meinsten. Aber ich glaube, dass wir ohne Handy geselliger sind. Leute sind immer mit dem Handy, chatten oder reden, und sprechen nicht mit den Leuten, die nicht hinten dem Bildschirm sind. Ich benutze jeden Tag das Handy, zumeist spreche ich mit meinen Freunden oder surfe im Internet, Whattsapp ist sehr brauchbar für mich. Je parle de Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain. J’ai choisi cette femme parce que chaque fois que je vois un de ses films, je tombe amoureux d’elle. Son sourire est parfait !Elle a travaillé pour le moment dans vingt-quatre films, mais je

veux souligner quelques-uns que j’ai vus et qui sont très intéressants. Ce sont les suivants : Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain (essentiel), Un long dimanche de fiançailles, Thérèse D (c’est très triste, mais elle fait une bonne interprétation) et L’écume des jours (le plus récent). DE LA FEMME 2014

Olympe de Gouges Son nom de naissance est Marie Olimpe Gouze. Elle est auteur de la Déclaration des droits de la femme, qui a laissé des écrits en faveur des droits politiques et civils des femmes. Elle est considerée comme une des pionnières du féminisme. Elle est morte guillotinée à Paris (en France) le 3 novembre 1793, pendant La Révolution Française.

Olympe de Gouges naquit le 7 mai 1748, à Montauban, au sud de la France. Elle épousa un certain Louis Aubry, en 1765, mais se retrouva veuve peu de temps après. Elle partit pour Paris avec son petit garçon et elle y rédigea ses premiers textes. Olympe de Gouges fut une femme avide de liberté et de célébrité. Inspirée par les événements de la Révolution Française, elle publia des

ouvrages pour l’égalité des droits, par exemple, sa célèbre Déclaration des droits de la femme et de la citoyenne. Au début, elle soutenait Louis XVI, mais après elle offrit son appui aux Girondins. Ses activités lui valurent d’être arrêtée en juillet 1793. Condamnée à mort, elle monta sur l’échafaud le 3 novembre 1793. Elle fut guillotinée mais avec toute la dignité dont elle fut capable. Dans son célèbre texte "Déclaration des droits de la femme et de la citoyenne", elle affirmait ironiquement qu´une femme avait le droit de monter sur l’échafaud et elle devrait avoir également celui de monter à la tribune. Sans aucun doute, cette femme formidable est un personnage exemplaire. Elle représente la

liberté, l´égalité et la fraternité et nous ne pouvons pas l´oublier pendant la Journée Mondiale de la Femme.

La chandeleur ou fête des

CRÊPES HISTOIRE La chandeleur est une fête de tradition catholique qui représente la purification de la Vierge Marie et la présentation de l´enfant Jésus Christ au Temple. Pendant le V siècle, le pape Gélase 1er récompensait les pèlerins venus à Rome pour la fête avec la distribution de crêpes. Les crêpes avec leur forme ronde et leur couleur dorée rappelleraient le soleil, compatible avec la tradition païenne chez les romains, chez les celtes, chez les germaniques,… qui, eux, célébraient la fin de l’hiver et le retour de la lumière.

OPINION PERSONNELLE: Le film est un enregistrement d’une représentation musicale dans un théâtre. On peut profiter d’un spectacle en direct, et on peut voir la réponse du public et même leurs applaudissements. La musique est très animée, et tant la scénographie comme l’illumination sont très jolies. Il m’a beaucoup plu, c’est une représentation très intéressante et qui fait mieux comprendre les événements historiques pendant la Révolution Française.

She also talked about the process of coming to Spain, the application, the visa and the time it took her to convince her parents! When she arrived in Spain, she experienced some hurdles like the language, finding a place to live and getting to know a new city like Madrid. Those first weeks were difficult because of the food, the living conditions, the transportation, the strikes and the university life among other things. She found that the meal times were very different to her meal times in America, the cooking and even the portions. Here, in Spain, the portions are smaller but she also noticed that people consume more

Answer: A pupil of this school who is a friend of mine, told us Javier, talked to me about creating a group of theatre. I´m a school counsellor. I took this idea to the school council and I suggested it to Ramón, the director, and he said: “Perfect”.

A: I think is a really difficult situation and the feeling of be alone on the stage is really hard but it is also a very satisfactory experience

A: We are 17 students. The level requirement doesn´t exist. Everyone is able to act. You only need to want to do it.

Q: How does our school support you? A: In several ways: providing the stage for us, and also a laptop, a classroom, even with some money to buy some clothes and props.

Q: What is the best and the worst thing about being on stage? A: There are only good things. Well, the worst thing is feeling nervous before going onstage, but there are a lot of good things, we meet a lot of different people, we have good moments, we laugh every day. It is really nice, we are like a family. Q: In your view, are there any particular characteristics that a person needs to be an actor?

Suddenly, an enigmatic word: “The Adirondacks” appeared projected on the screen that generated some concern and a mysterious atmosphere. The vast majority of people did not have the faintest idea what it could refer to. It was a surprise to discover that The Adirondacks is known as one of the largest natural parks around the United States, greater even than Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite Park or the Grand Canyon National Park. The Adirondacks compared to Spain covers, more or less, one third of our territory.

question was the beginning of a dynamic and interactive lecture that took place in our EOI by a young American girl called Sirianna Santacrose, who is completing her studies in Madrid for a few months. The answers to this question covered almost all topics and American stereotypes that Spanish people are used to seeing in adverts, films, etc… so the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the fast food were the most mentioned ideas in the auditorium.

Child Labour in Madagascar: A PHOTOGRAPHIC VIEW

Last February we had an exhibition in collaboration with NGO Agua de Coco. The masterful photos of Víctor Luengo, Javier Martínez and Pierrot Men were shown in the entrance hall of Centro de Formación. Many students of our school visited the exhibition, and some of them wrote descriptions of the pictures.

On March 6, Paloma Aguilera, with her son Diego, gave us a really interesting talk about the work of NGO Agua de Coco in Madagascar. Sandra Gil, a NB2 student at our school gives us an overview of this impressive work.

Agua de Coco was born on December 20 1994 in order to meet the needs of destitute families who live on the streets in the city of Battambang (Cambodia). Later, it started work in Madagascar and Brazil, always helping children and their families to meet their needs. Today there are more than 40,000 people who benefit from their projects.

When I was a child many children about twelve or thirteen worked outside home because of the economic precariousness of families. However there were opportunities for children who wanted to study, like night schools, vocational schools, scholarships and so on. It was possible to escape poverty. There was

They look tired and exhausted, aren´t wearing shoes and probably haven´t taken a bath for a while. They are likely to work in a rubbish dump picking up some material to recycle in the factories or some food to eat. They probably spend all day over there and aren´t going to school.

They are very young with a long life ahead of them, but they can be absolutely miserable as if they haven´t got any hope in life. This is probably the real life for a lot of children of the poorest area of Madagascar. It makes me think of children´s rights. In that country, as well as in other countries in Asia children's rights have disappeared. I love the photo but the atmosphere is depressing because it is about children, their daily life and also is

I chose this picture because it really struck me. It brought a bitter memory of my childhood to my mind. A child about twelve or thirteen who lived in my street,

worked with his father carrying lime in a cart. One tragic day the cart overturned and the boy died crushed.

The child is 8 years old more or less. He is handsome, with big eyes and mouth He has wounds on the face and a rash around the mouth. His look is very sad, desperate and empty. Even judging by his expression, we can say that he is strong and he is a fighter. Personally, I think that he is disappointed by life and the world that he has had to live, in and he feels extremely lonely and quite desperate.

Possibly, the child may not find food in the landfill. In fact, the atmosphere is depressing. I have chosen this picture because I was impressed. It makes me think about child exploitation, poverty and the future of these children.

The last week in February, we were learning about Mardi Gras, the carnival which is celebrated in New Orleans, Lousiana and one of the world´s most famous. The tradition began when Lousiana was colonized by the French in the 17th century (Lousiana’s name is in honor of Luis XVI who was King of France 1643-1715). It is known by ancient documents that the first celebration was in 1699 and its origins are Catholic, in fact, the season of carnival in New Orleans, begins on 6th of January, Night Epiphany. From that day parades, masquerades, balls and the famous King Cake (typical cake made in a ring associated with the festival of Epiphany) can be seen. However, celebrations are concentrated for about two weeks before and through Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras in French) the day before Ash Wednesday.

New Orleans

But the most prized throws are the doubloons made in basic aluminum and painted with the traditional colours of the New Orleans Mardi Gras: purple, gold and green. These three colours were used by the Catholic Church Throughout history and with an special meaning (purple for justice, gold for power, and green for faith) Everybody has fun at the weekend before Mardi Gras. Most of them are tourist including films stars, singers and other famous people. At the end the police clear the streets, this means that The Mardi Gras has finished and Lent begins.

Saint Patrick´s Day is on 17th of March. This day Irish people celebrate the National Feast Day, but it´s also celebrated in other countries. Saint Patrick lived in 4th century. Something interesting about Ireland is that there aren´t any snakes there. People say that he was the person who sent them away. Saint Patrick explained the Mystery of The Trinity using a Shamrock. He said that the leaves represented: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. On Saint Patrick´s Day everybody wears green and there are parades all over the world.

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY Mayte Casto. NB2 This day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. It is also celebrated by the Irish around the world, especially in Britain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. Saint Patrick was born in the 4th century, in Roman Britain. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. After six years working as a shepherd he found God. Patrick returned to Ireland to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. According to legend, Saint Patrick used the threeleaved shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to Irish pagans. The colour Green has been associated with Ireland since at least the 1640s, when the green harp flag was used by the Irish Catholic Confederation. Green ribbons and shamrocks have been worn on St. Patrick’s Day since 1680. In the past, Saint Patrick’s Day was celebrated only as a religious holiday. In 1903 it became a public holiday. The first Saint Patrick’s Day’s Parade was celebrated in the Irish Free State, in Dublin, in 1931. Since at least the 1990s, the Irish government began to promote this feast around the world. The first Saint Patrick’s Feast occurred the 17th on March in 1996. Since 2006, the feast lasts 5 days. On Saint Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and green clothing or accessories (the “wearing of the green”).

THE STORY OF JACK O' LANTERN AS TOLD TO ENGLISH BASIC STUDENTS Ana Fraile del Pozo. Department of English Once upon a time our story starts the week of Halloween. It's hardly the beginning of the year and Basic 1 students have had English classes for just a few weeks, Basic 2 students one more year. How to tell basic students the story of Jack, Stingy Jack who was bad to his wife, bad to his children and bad to his... neighbours? I guess I'll have to use repetition, Basic 1 dialogues, objects, gestures, drawings and make it very, very simple. This is the story of a man who managed to trick the Devil several times to avoid going to Hell. Jack first tricked the Devil with a coin and a cross; so students could see a big silver coin and a small cross and how the Devil got into

that coin and was safely kept in Jack's pocket with the power of the cross. Jack and the Devil made a deal (gesture of a handshake) and Jack bought himself some more time. A year later, the Devil tried to take Jack to Hell (“Hi Jack, you're coming to … HELL!” ) with the power of the cross the Devil was kept on top of a tree and Jack escaped the Devil once more. After a few years, Jack died and it was time for him to find his place in... Heaven? Not surprisingly, St Peter with his long beard and keys rejected him ( “Go to … HELL!”) and Jack had to visit his “old friend” the Devil to ask for a place in... Hell. The devil didn't want to have anything to do with tricky Jack and kicked him out of Hell. No place for Jack in Heaven, no place for him in Hell. Jack was so condemned to wander the earth in the darkness. The Devil tossed him a cinder (a burning coal) to give him light and Jack carved a turnip (we used a big potato) to hold the burning coal.

The palace of Infante D. Luis is located in the village of Boadilla del Monte, near Madrid.

It was designed and built by the Spanish architect Ventura Rodriguez who was also one of the best known architects of the XVII century.

Inside the Palace you´ll find small a Chapel of Corinthian and Baroque design with arches cornices decorated with angels, grapes and flowers.

The palace is in neo-classical style with strong Italian influence and it has three levels on stories of plain but symmetrical design.

The materials used are mainly red bricks and granite for the facades and Arab tiles for the roofs and covers whilst the interior is more luxurious using marble, bronze and paint stucco.

It has a total built area 6302 m. with the main building having three levels and one small building of one level plus on both sides there are two small towers to be found.

During the Spanish civil war the Palace was severely damaged and has since been partly rebuilt and repaired by architect Antonio Navarro.

The main entrance is decorated with Tuscam columns and above it a balcony with lonic columns. The palace is built on grounds of aprox. 71500 mts. with gardens of regular design but with different

The rest of the story is popular tale. Every Halloween the spirits wander the earth. The turnip turned into a pumpkin when the tradition reached the USA and now we all have carved pumpkins or Jack o' lanterns (Jack of the lantern) to scare evil spirits away or just for fun to celebrate Halloween. I really enjoyed telling the story and hope students enjoyed it too. If the story as told is too confusing, you´ ll just need to read a version of the original story, the internet is hill of them

Infante Don Luis of Borbón and Farnesio

History of the Palace of Infante Don Luis

Childhood and family (0-7 years) Luis Antonio of Borbón and Farnesio was born on 25 July 1727 in The Palace of The “Buen Retiro”,Madrid. His father, Felipe V of Borbón, was the king of Spain and his mother Isabel of Farnesio was a Princess of Parma. His brothers were also kings: Luis I, Fernando VI and Carlos III. He was the youngest of the sons. During his first years ,Luis Antonio of Borbón was taken care of by women, but when he was seven, he was already in the

care of men. He learnt Geography, History, Religion, Music, Drawing, French, Italian, Castilian and everything that an Infante needed to learn at the time.

Young and cardinal The Infante D. Luis occupied a very distant place in the bloodline , so at an early age he was following an ecclesiastical career . In 1735, when he was 8 years old, he was appointed Archbishop of Toledo and took possession of the spiritual administration, on 26 November two years later .Three months after being ordained archbishop, Pope Clement XII named the Infante Cardinal Priest of Santa Maria Scale . In 1741 , already a Cardinal , D. Luis de Borbón, also received from the Pope the archbishopric of Seville. But the Infante D. Luis, had no ecclesiastical vocation, This led him in 1754 to communicate to King Ferdinand VI his desire to leave the church life and Pope Clement XII accepted his resignation on December 18th 1754, granting as compensation an annual pension of 946,107 reais.

Emancipated and single

Later on the Infante ordered to Ventura Rodriguez to built a palace based in a Neoclassical style in Boadilla. However, the palace became a small illustrated court. In 1766 Luis Antonio's mother died and he thought about marriage but his brother Carlos III didn´t agree. Finally Luis Antonio apologized to his brother Carlos III and then he requested authorization to get married.

Marriage and exile The Infante D. Luis, accepting the conditions of his brother King Carlos III, married María Teresa de Villabriga in June 27th 1776 in Olìas del Rey. Nobody of the Royal Family went to the wedding.

The couple was living in Arenas de San Pedro where the Infant built the Palace of Mosquera and other public works in the village. The Infant D. Luis, as an enlightened man, purchased an important heritage. He was patron of musicians and painters as Francisco de Goya who painted several family portraits. D. Luis died August 7th 1785 in Arenas de San Pedro surrounded by his family. In 1880 his nephew King Carlos IV took his remains to “Monasterio de El Escorial”.

Offspring Luis of Borbon married Mª Teresa of Villabriga in 1776, but it was a morganatic marriage. They had three children. 1. The eldest of his children was Luis Maria de Borbon and Villabriga, Count of Chinchon. 2. The second one was Mª Teresa de Borbon and Villabriga, Marquise of Boadilla. She was the only one who got back the family name of Borbon and the privilege of reoyal highness by her marriage to Manuel de Godoy.

The Palace of Infante Don Luis is located in the centre of Boadilla del Monte, on the west of the Community of Madrid. The building was surrounded by a luxuriant garden with a vast landscape. First of all, the Infante Don Luis, the youngest son of King Felipe the Fifth and, Carlos III’s brother, bought the Domain of Boadilla in 1761, because of the precarious financial situation of the Marchioness of Mirabal.

3. Mª Luisa de Borbon was the last one of his children.

In 1763, the Infante entrusted the building of the New Palace to Ventura Rodriguez, one of the most important architects of the Spanish Eighteenth Century. The Palace was erected over another one built before, called The Palace of the Two Towers, whose owner was the Marchioness of Mirabal.

Personalities who influenced in his life

Works were executed at a very rapid rate, being almost finished in 1765.

Don Luis was a man interested in hunting and culture. He loved everything related to the culture of his time. He lived surrounded by artists. He knew the architect Ventura Rodríguez who built de Royal Palace in Arenas de San Pedro (Ávila) for him. In 1783 Goya stayed in the Royal Palace and he painted “The family of the Infante Don Luis”. He had a chamber orchestra and Luigi Boccherini was in charge of it. He didn’t have an important position in history, but he had an especial repercussion in the culture.

Boadilla was considered as a recreational villa by the Infante, soon he assumed a very important role when he moved to the new palace and made it his principal residence. The Infant began to gather an important gallery, a study, a library and other valuables. In the next 15 years the Palace became a small court with the presence of a great number of artist who were invited by the Infante. Among them we find Luigi Boccherini and Francisco de Goya. The Palace was the main residence of Infante from 1766 to 1776, the year of his marriage with Mary Teresa de Vallabriga. After his wedding he is forced to leave the Palace and the palace remains in the care of his servants.

On 5 August 1785 the Infante died and the Palace is inherited by his firstborn who in turn rents it to King Carlos III who keeps it as a playground Villa. In 1797 the palace was used as recreational place by Godoy and his wife Mª Teresa who was daughter of D. Luis and the Countess of Chinchón. This marriage gave splendor to the palace because they made some works. In 1808, Godoy was arrested in Aranjuez riots, and his belongings were removed. Few years later, some of his confiscated pictures were returned to his wife coming back to the palace. When king Fernando VII died in 1833, his 3 year-old daughter was queen, while Isabel fulfilled her coming of age the government was run by her mother, María Cristina. When queen Isabel II was 20 years old she gave to Carlota Luisa, daughter of Godoy and granddaughter of Infante D. Luis, the title of Marquise of Boadilla, and a lot of fields and the palace were returned to her. In 1886, the palace was inherited by his oldest son, Adolfo Rúspuli. In 1931 with the proclamation of the Second Republic, the royal family was exiled. And from 1936-39 the palace was headquarters of the general Varela, because in Brunete one of

the bloodiest battles, where 40.000 soldiers died, was fought. The palace was a blood hospital. During the Spanish Civil war the palace was badly damaged, the ceiling felt, because the rain destroyed it. From 1942 to 1973 the palace was used as school by the sisters of the Charity, and 200 dependents girls of the Social Auxiliary. In 1973, the palace was returned to its owner, Don Carlos Rúspoli, (Duke of Sueca, and son of Adolfo) and restoration works were carried out by the architect Antonio Muñoz Salvador. In 1975, it is declared a National Monument. That same year Don Carlos Rúspoli died and the palace is inherited by Enrique Rúspoli y Morenés, last direct owner descendant of the Infante Don Luis. In 1998, the palace passed into the hands of the City of Hall of Boadilla del Monte. In 2006, the council conceded the palace to SGAE for 75 years, for the installation of a cultural project. But in late 2009 the SGAE project was rejected by Community of Madrid. For some years the group of Friends of the Palace presided by Paloma Olmedo del Rosal with the help of town hall, have worked hard to try to get the final restoration of the same one.

27th August 1758 Queen Bárbara de Braganza died of a cancer and the same day the king and his son Luis Antonio went to the palace of Villaviciosa. The king had serious mental problems and then he died.

A hand gesture in which the middle finger of either hand is crossed over the top of the index finger of the same hand. Also, a written or spoken phrase associated with the gesture. There is some evidence to suggest that the origins of the gesture are found in early Christianity, both as a plea for divine protection and as a covert signifier of Christian belief. Modern usage however is almost exclusively secular and considerably more diverse in meaning, including: a hand gesture denoting a hope for good luck, a verbal wish for luck, or a means of nullifying the binding nature of a promise or oath.

This idiom is something that society has used for centuries. We can find the ‘spirit of the phrase’ in the Bible (John’s gospel reading). Abraham Lincoln wrote it in a speech too, but it’s believed that the inventor was a French writer who said in XIV century: “saying is one thing and doing is another thing”. In Spain, you can translate it in different ways, depends on the speaker: Una acción vale más que mil palabras / El movimiento se demuestra andando / Del dicho al hecho hay un trecho This is a useful idiom and you can find it in songs, poems, literature… I have two examples:

To cross one's fingers was a hand gesture commonly used to implore God for protection, as well as to wish for good luck. The gesture is referred to by the common expression "keeping one's fingers crossed" or just "fingers crossed" and has also been historically used in order to allow believers to recognize one another during times of persecution.

In the time of the early Church, Christians would cross their fingers in order to invoke the power associated with the Christian cross for protection, when faced with evil. Moreover, Christians, when persecuted by the Romans, used the symbol of crossed fingers, along with the Ichthys, in order to recognize one another and assemble for worship services. In 16th century England, people continued to cross fingers or make the sign of the cross in order to ward off evil, as well as when people coughed or sneezed.

Language in general, and more specifically the English Language, is not a static entity or a fixed-for-life system of communication. On the contrary, it evolves through time like a moving “Pangaea”. The changes in a language are slow and hardly noticeable until we get a faraway perspective. The English language changes include new lexical items, grammar trends and even new pronunciation patterns; and the former two are happening a bit faster nowadays. The creation of new vocabulary is unpredictable. Some items or words become standard because they are widely spread; others appear and disappear in the blink of an eye. We do not have the clue to say which ones are going to be accepted and last for a considerable amount of time so as to be standardized. But the truth is that a huge amount of new vocabulary is being generated more than ever before.

We would need a whole magazine to explain what is happening in the English language nowadays. We as teachers try to modestly show these changes to our students according to their level and to the usefulness of the newly acquired terms.

The internationalization of societies through technology like the Internet and mobile phone apps together with TV are particularly responsible for it, because the assimilation of these new words is much faster. We suppose that you remember the famous “selfie” (you take a picture of yourself with your mobile) in the last Oscars awards. This word has come out and spread through the net and now many Spanish speakers know what its meaning is. Travelling, as we see it today, is another reason which contributes to the spreading of new lexical items: the contact among cultures let these terms be assimilated more freely. There is an exchange of concepts from different languages: “cava”, “vuvuzela” and “sashimi” coming from Spanish, Afrikaans and Japanese are now “English words” too.

FILM REVIEW TOM HANKS

A MASTERPIECE! Gabriela C. Cadenas F. NA1 SAVING MR. BANKS: In my opinion, Saving Mr. Banks is the best movie I have seen in the last months. It is based on a true story of how “Mary Poppins” books were made into a big screen movie. It seems like a very weird plot, a Disney film about the making of another Disney film, but actually it is a complex story full of touching elements. It made me cry several times.

It’s a British rom-com. It was written and directed by Richard Curtis. It is set in London in 2002. It stars: Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, etc.. all of them are famous British actors.

In addition, the scenery and the costumes are great recreating Hollywood and Disneyland in the 60s. The acting is very good too. Tom Hanks is really charming as Walt and Emma Thompson is, without any doubt, the star of the film with a magnificent performance as the unconventional woman Pamela Travers. She should have been nominated for the Oscar. To sum up, this is not a Disney movie for little kids. It is a must see teen-adult movie with a huge message related to letting go the past, redemption, forgiveness and kindness. If you haven't seen it, run to your closer cinema. You will enjoy it.

The movie is about the lives of eight very different couples with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales, all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London. While the new British prime minister (Hugh Grant) falls in love with a member of his cabinet; a writer (Colin Firth) discovers his girlfriend is cheating on him with his brother and he decides to go to southern France, where he meets his new housekeeper. On the other hand, as a happily married woman (Emma Thompson) begins to suspect that her husband is cheating with his secretary, two actors start a special relation. Also, while a new bride (Keira Knightley) begins to suspect that her husband’s best friend is in love with her, a widowed stepfather (Liam Neeson) decides to help his eleven year old stepson, Sam, to conquer the most popular girl in his school…….. The soundtrack is fantastic. The original music was composed and conducted by Craig Armstrong. This soundtrack was on the top list and won gold disc in different countries like Australia and Mexico.

My favourite scenes are when the British Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) is dancing at his office because he has had the courage to tell the truth to the American President in front of everyone. The other when Karen (Emma Thompson) is listening a Joni Michell song while she cries in her room. I recommend it because it can help you to feel good through the music and the different, crazy and adorable stories.

Moreover, if you like Mary Poppins, with this movie you can learn where the story came from and the inspiration for the characters. This film also gives some additional insights into Walt Disney's life and the dynamics of his company in the 60s. To be honest, I am a big fan of the Walt Disney World theme parks and Walt Disney philosophy, so for me this makes the movie more interesting.

loveactually THE ULTIMATE ROMANTIC COMEDY

The genre of this movie is a wonderful mix of drama and comedy. On the one hand the childhood memories of the author of the books, Pamela Travers, are very dark and sad, surrounded by alcoholism and suicide attempts. On the other hand, the process of how the book finally was adapted is very funny and interesting to watch because Disney and Travers had very different views of how to make the movie, on how to call each other, on how to live. It is a long movie set in the 1960s but with a lot of flashbacks from Pamela’ childhood (1900s) in Australia, so it moves back and forth between Australia and LA and shows, in a very charming way, how the former events shaped Pamela´s personality.

This is the story of what happened Before …

HERBERT AND HIS DREAM Once upon a time, in Kentucky, there was a thirty-year-old fat man called Herbert. Herbert had always wanted to be a princess, so when the famous parade in miniskirt competition arrived at Kentucky he decided that winning it was the aim of his life. His mother was so proud of him that she told everyone in the neighbourhood about the challenge Herbert was taking, but her sister, Herbert´s aunt, had always wanted to win that competition herself, so she was extremely jealous.

Maria has been working as a waitress for the last two years in Rodolfo’s, an Italian restaurant in the downtown. She lives in a tiny apartment in the outskirts with just a few things of her own. All her family lives in Mexico, but she has a couple of very good friends in town. Maria’s lifestyle is really humble. She saves as much money as she can for her family and spends her free time helping her neighbours in whatever they need. She doesn’t behave like a young woman, she doesn’t enjoy with friends doing funny and amazing things and she doesn’t care about boyfriends. Six months ago, Stanley arrived at the restaurant to work as a cook. He is a very sensitive and shy man and extremely creative in the kitchen. Maria fell in love with him immediately, but she hasn’t wanted to make him realise. But yesterday night, when Maria and Stanley were completely alone in the restaurant, Stanley told Maria that he is in love with her and kissed her very passionately.

Quickly, she opened the letter and anxiously read it. Her husband had been seen in a park with a woman and he looked like that was in love with her.

Chris couldn’t conceal her excitement and the mother asked her: - What’s happening Chris? You seem very nervous. - Oh Mom, I still don’t believe it. I’ve just received my contract. I am going to go to Sidney in fifteen days.

Because of the stress and the changes on his diet, Herbert went completely bald, but he was determined to win the miniskirt competition so he purchased a wig to cover his head. He also bought a fake moustache which Kim found irresistible. The date of the competition was getting close, and Herbert only had trainers in his wardrobe, so he went to a flea market to get some fashionable high heels. He bought an amazing pair of shoes and, to celebrate it, he ate some rice. In the meantime, his mother visited him and presented him with a fantastic gift: her wedding stockings for him to wear at the competition. By the time the parade started, Herbert was so happy that he had recovered all his hair and his ever amazing beard. While Herbert was waiting for the verdict, he saw an extremely handsome juror. He was so nervous and felt so much hunger that he ate him in a single mouthful.

To be prepared, he went on a diet and quit eating his favourite food: baked beans. Herbert went to the Indian quarter to buy some food for his diet. He entered “Apu and sons” shop and bought some shrimps to eat on Mondays, some peppers for Tuesdays and cucumbers for the weekend. He also bought one of Apu´s sons, Kim, as a cook and also because he had fallen in love with him.

HOLIDAYS IN

AUSTRALIA Francisco Javier Garcia Lázaro. NA1

I have to mention as an initial and fundamental statement that it's impossible to visit a whole continent in three or four weeks. The distances are so large that most of the trips between Australian cities have to be done by plane. Australia is nearly in the antipodes of Spain and just to get there we'll spend a whole day or even more in airplanes and in airports. Only the flights to go to Sydney and to get back to Madrid cost more than 2000 € per person. These are the main drawbacks of the journey.

The first place we are going to visit is Sydney, we'll probably spend three days in this city . The Taronga Zoo is the best way to see most of the Australian fauna at a glance with lots of animals that can't be found in other regions. If we want to find a natural park inside a city we can't miss the Lane Cove or the Sydney Harbour National Parks. We plan to take a boat to sail around the harbour and to make a stop at Sydney's Opera House, one of the most emblematic buildings all over Australia. Finally we'll definitely spend some time shopping in this cosmopolitan city.

From Adelaide we are planning to take a flight to the Northern Territory. We are going to land at Alice Springs, and afterwards we start a tour to discover the Aboriginal Culture, to see Ayers Rock at Uluru National Park, to go bush camping, take a balloon ride and then we’re going to Darwin to find the oldest pubs of the territory . This part of the trip will probably last 7 days.

Joana, 58, moved from Romania in January 2003. She is currently home help in Madrid. She works in different houses around Madrid area for 12 hours every day from 8 to 20:00.

Do you remember the day you left? I was crying, and crying, because I had to leave my people. My children were old enough, and we had to go abroad because we needed to…It was madness, a neighbor told me about Spain, and she gave me the reference to arrive here.

Do you remember the day you arrived? Oh, yes, I´ll never forget it. A Romanian man stole all my money, he said “Where are you from? I can help you”…. and he robbed me. Every day a new adventure happened. It was very difficult, I was alone and afraid.

From Darwin we want to travel to Cairn in Queensland, we´re going to find there the rainforest with Cape Tribulation and Mangrave Swamp, then we'll possibly sail to Whitsunday Island to dive in one of the most surprising areas of the Great Barrier Reef . We might spend 7 to 10 days there.

Is there anything you find strange about Spanish people? Yes, talking about the economic crisis, I don’t understand why Spanish people don’t want to work for a smaller amount of money than what they used to earn before. They prefer to be on the dole than work again.

What´s the best thing about living here? The weather. I was in Marbella last week to visit some friends, and I could see the flowers blooming in fall, this was amazing for me, I´d never seen this in my country. You have a lot of sun and beaches…beautiful…beautiful!!!

What do you think about the food here? It is healthy, good and cheaper than Romanian food. We eat a lot of animal fat. I suppose it is because of the weather. We need more calories than Spanish people.

What was the first word you learnt here? After 3-4 weeks we are supposed to fly back from Cairn to Sydney and finally and unfortunately we're going back to Spain.

What´s the biggest difference between here and Romania?

We must have a well provided account in the bank because every traveller will probably spend between 5000-6000 € on the holidays, but I'm sure it will be a wonderful and an unforgettable trip

You have a lot of things and many advances that we have not. I am referring to houses, highways…everything. People in Spain are polite and nice, with a good education. In Romania there are a lot of people that, even nowadays, haven´t got electric light. They are very poor, and nobody takes care of them, I tell you this with a lot of shame, but it is true,

VALE!!!, because this word in Romanian means drool, and this word is fun, and also Juana, that is my name in Spanish, but we use this name JUANA like a cow`s name...

Where will you live when you retire? For sure, I´ll return home. My house is my temple, it’s my sanctuary. A lot of people I met here are my family as well. I´ll get so sad when I return. But my children say that they don´t want to go back to Romania….They said: “What are we going to do there, mom?”

Another weak point is that the ideal season to visit Australia is spring or autumn and these are odd times for holidays for us, so we must plan perfectly to be out of work in such a strange period. In spite of these problems, I think May will be a perfect month for our trip.

After Sydney we're thinking of flying to Adelaide in South Australia to visit my aunt and my cousin. I'm sure that we'll spend three beautiful days there and they´ll guide us to see the most representative places of the area.

FATAL COINCIDENCE

Every year I used to make an incredible cake for my birthday. This year I didn’t have enough time to prepare all the ingredients in advance. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to buy eggs, there wasn’t enough chocolate and I added salt inside of sugar.

When I was young, about 17, I used to spend all my time with my best friend. We were neighbors and we shared the same interests. We would meet and speak about our adventures. My friend told me she was in love with a handsome guy and I told her the same was true about me, and his name was Gonzalo. Unbelievably, it was the same name. Unfortunately he was the same guy.

long time ago, I travelled around the United Kingdom by car. It was 1988, I was travelling with three friends and my husband. We drove with two cars, my husband and I went into one and our friends in another.

We travelled independently and we used to meet at the campsite and we planned where to go, when, what…

change it because if we changed it we wouldn´t find each other. One day, when we were in Hereford, my husband and I took another exit way on the road. We got lost. We said that: “When someone gets lost, he has to go to the post office at o´clock hours”. The problem was that we didn´t speak English. Finally, thanks to the sign language, we could arrive to the post office of Hereford and met each other. The trip last 20 days, we toured around the different landscape of United Kingdom and knew some of their towns.

In that time there were no mobiles, so when we chose one place to visit we couldn´t

It was very late, about 06:00 o´clock in the morning, I was coming back from a friend´s wedding. I felt really tired, I couldn't help falling asleep. Suddenly, a helping hand shook my shoulder:

EXPERIENCES This is the end of April 2014 and we have recently been gripped by the latest air travel mystery: the disappearance of Malayan MH370 flight. After weeks of uncertainty, pieces of contradictory information and numerous searches, the plane had seemingly got lost somewhere in the Indian Ocean: all hope for the families of the 239 people on board vanished. The families are in mourning and anxious to find out what actually happened on that plane. Fortunately our students have much less dramatic flying experiences to share and they do it brilliantly with the following two texts:

Air travel is the best way of travelling, especially if you go to distant places or you do not have much time. The only disadvantage is that the airports are usually outside cities and people have to spend two or three hours before getting on board the plane. The travelers have to check-in, go through passport control and, after that, search for their boarding gate. Usually there are not any problems but it is necessary to arrive in time. Once on the plane, the passengers must follow the instructions of the crew: to fasten the seat belt, turn off the electronics, etc. Taking off is one of the most dangerous times in the flight. The pilot must control the plane himself, without help, and this is a very important moment. Five years ago a flight to Tenerife could not take off and caught fire. Many people died because the plane had not been properly checked before taking off.

Sometimes there are turbulences during the flight but these are usually not worrying. Landing is another dangerous moment; many accidents happen at this time. So, the passengers usually clap to the pilot when the plane has landed and everything is all right. Finally you have arrived, you have to pick up your luggage, a slow mission in big airports. The suitcases are frequently lost or arrive damaged, so passengers have to make a claim. I lost my suitcase in a trip from Caracas to Madrid. The problem was not my clothes but the books and other valuable things that I had bought in that country. They never appeared and, although the air company compensated me a year later, I never recovered them.

María Tanarro Gómez. NI2 I will talk about a travelling experience I had six years ago. It was winter and I decided to travel to Paris with my boyfriend for five days. Our flight was very early in the morning so my father took us to the airport by car. When we arrived at the airport we went to the check-in desk and left our luggage there. Everything was alright so we didn´t have any problem. A few minutes later we were getting on the plane. I was so nervous because that was going to be my first flight and I´m a bit afraid of flying. Luckily my boyfriend was calm so he made me feel more confident. When the plane took off my heart started to go so fast but I took a deep breath and I managed to calm down. The journey wasn´t very long so it was a good thing. During the flight we got some turbulences but not too serious. I remember my boyfriend telling me that unless you see the flight attendants going to their seats, everything is ok. As I said, the flight was short, just about two hours, but it was the longest time in my life! When the plane landed I felt relieved and happy because it was over. We didn´t have any problem with our luggage but we had a problem with our transport to the hotel. Because it was the first time we were travelling to another country, we had paid for a bus that would take us to our hotel. The thing is that when we took our luggage we didn´t see anyone to receive us. We spent an hour moving around the airport but we didn´t find anyone. In the end, we managed to get to our hotel on our own by train. It was funny because the receptionist told us that somebody had called from the airport asking about us! Anyway, after this mess the important thing was that we arrived at Paris safe and now I can say that it was the best trip of my life.

Jemma el Fnac Square in Marrakech, an amazing and completely different market in the world. It’s continuously changing everyday. Sells everything exotic you want, but never technology or fashion. At night you have music, dancing, gossip and cooking food at the moment.
