Wednesday Markets

I really enjoy visiting the Wednesday afternoon Farmers’ Markets at the AGRI Park near the crossroads. They run from 3 pm to 6:30 pm every week until September. I am thinking we will see more and more vendors as the farms begin to produce. Enjoy live music and a bbq sausage from Konig. Pick up a nice variety of meat, preserves, baking and more. I hope to see you there.

Happy Birthday

To me. June 13 is number 2 for this guy and it feels good. I feel I have beaten the odds quite well with kidney failure, multiple myeloma, open heart surgery, a cracked femur and several blood infections since 2017. I thank God for carrying me through that stuff as I myself used to be a very weak person.

Visionary

“Hey Mom. How do I look?”

‘Through your eyes dear’.

Fathers’ Day

It is coming up quickly on June 18. I really miss my father, as he has been gone for a while now.

If your father is still around, please show him how much you appreciate him.

Canada Day Parade

Everyone loves a parade, or at least I do. This is just another reminder to get on building a float for this year’s event. Invermere always has a great parade on Canada Day.

Where else do you get to showcase your business to thousands of folks with little or no cost? It is almost as good as being in The Valley Peak haha.

The time is getting closer so plan your parade float soon.

Free Food Pantry

I always like to mention the Pantry as it is an opportunity for anyone to help the community. Please help keep it stocked. I figure that 25-30 families and individuals use it on a regular basis. We could use help stocking it.

You will find it on the side of the road at 1313 10 St, in Invermere. Bless all of you who help fill it and those who are helped by it. Let’s keep it going.

WITH

Question Everything

Especially what I write, hahaha. A couple weeks ago I had a trivia question about which band Anne and Nancy Wilson were part of. The answer I gave was ABBA, which is wrong. They are from Heart, which is actually one of my favourite bands.

Riddliculous

A man walks out into the pouring rain with no hat, umbrella or anything else to cover up with, yet he didn’t get a hair on his head wet. How is this possible?

What is the only thing you can put in a bucket that will make it lighter? What gives you the power to walk through walls? See page 6.

Worrisome

My laptop is getting a bit old. One of its biggest problems is the number six key and the letter ‘w’ key are very sticky. I never realized how often I use ‘w’ when I am writing. I have to go back and do a lot of corrections. If you notice a word that looks strange, maybe add a ‘w’ to it.

Growing Garlic

I planted garlic last fall and much off it has come up this spring. It is getting very tall and I am wondering if that is indicative of large bulb sizes or is the greenery competing with the bulbs. Any info would be great.

Sweet Scents

“I believe I have invented a thought controlled air freshener.”

‘That sounds ridiculous!’

“It makes scents if you think about it”.

Hydrate

Due to kidney failure I am very limited on how much fluid I can intake every day. For those of you who have no issues please stay well hydrated through these hot days. Water can save your life.

Housekeepers Wanted

Mountainside in Fairmont is looking for more housekeeping staff. Check the ad on page 4 for information.

ZZZZZ

I always wondered why ‘zzzz’ is used in drawings to depict sleeping. I think I have made the discovery. This morning when I nodded off while writing on the computer keypad. My hands dropped and I awoke to ‘nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn’ across the screen. Could have easily been zzzzz.

Sadly, I have to mention this again. I receive a lot of feedback, most of it very positive. But the negative ones are pretty insane. They love to use the words ‘hate speech’ to describe anyone who has a different opinion than them. Facts have no meaning but feelings are pretty important. We are in a sad time these days.

On the other hand, it is sure hot out there. The hounds need to be near water for any afternoon walk and they really prefer the early morning ones. I do love getting out during the sunny but cool mornings myself and I hope all of you take advantage of those times. I believe we are about to get hotter. A bonus for all the arsonists starting the fires (zero lightning happened) to push the ‘climate emergency’ narrative. We are blessed to have so many beautiful lakes in the area to help us cool down.

I want to thank the Hospice Society for the companionship during dialysis. One of them was here to help save my life during a fluid level emergency. It taught me that I am not as independent as I think I am or want to be. I do wish more people understood what dialysis is all about and the process involved. If you want to learn, drop by some morning.

I also want to thank God for keeping me alive. I have questioned all that happens to me a bit too much. I have been told that I am living proof, having survived all these critical health issues, that there is a higher power out there who is protecting me. I really don’t know anyone else with kidney failure, bone marrow cancer, open heart surgery and a broken femur who are doing as well as me. I am sure there are a few out there.

I hope you enjoy the read this week. I will always be slightly controversial, but not really.

Watson’s Waddle

There are some great people in some of the stores in downtown Invermere. Rocky and I (Drew here) often get to go downtown with Rob for paper deliveries. The route does not change much so we have figured out our favourite spots.

My personal favourite person in the valley (mostly) is Katelin at Konig Meats & Sausages. She does her best to save the ends of the different roasts for us. We wait outside drooling while Rob goes in with the paper. A big shout out to her. Bosleys is an amazing place with an unlimited selection of treats and a doggy wash station at the back. They are always so kind and helpful. Jill is a savior for us. Choppers is a great pet store that works hard for dogs (and others). The Town & Country Feed Store is also great for dogs. Other businesses have treats as well. Canadian Tire, Artym Gallery, Lakeside Bikes, Hospice Society and more. It is a very dog-friendly community on the most part.

A lot of people we meet walking ask how old we are. Rocky just turned 11 and I will be 10 in October. Definitely not puppies anymore. Most are surprised and mention what good shape we are in. We give credit to Ashley, our previous human, Rob, our current human, and Rob’s friends who have all taken us for many a walk. Early morning walks are the best right now. What Year

Was It?

Russia put the first man into space and the first spacecraft onto the surface of the moon. ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’ debuted, as did ‘Mr. Ed’ and ‘The Wide World of Sports’.

Wayne Gretzky and I were born, Barbie’s ‘Ken’ was introduced, the Berlin Wall was constructed and Pampers sold the first disposable diapers. What year was it?

Watering Your Garden

It is a myth that watering your plants in the hot sun will burn them. Evaporation is a cooling process and the drops are too small to have a ‘magnifying’ effect. Their focal points would be a couple feet away. But, there are definitely some watering times that are better than others. During a hot sunny day, watering is pretty inefficient as, a lot of it evaporates before going into the soil.

A complete, thorough watering in the early morning is best as it best prepares the plant for a hot day. Use lots of water and soak the area as much as you can. If watering in the evening, do your best to just water the base and roots. Sometimes if you get water on the foliage in the evening you are more likely to introduce disease and fungus. Some plants do not require as much water as others. Do your best to not overwater as that promotes root rot.

Holy grocery prices! It is so discouraging to spend $100 and come out with just a couple bags of goods. It is going to be rougher as we move forward. There is another huge ‘carbon tax’ which will do nothing for the climate but will drain our pockets a lot quicker.

Rocky Mountain Memories

The Rocky Mountain Rally was this past weekend and it flashes me back to 2014 when I was a Fire Warden while writing The Valley Peak. They actually used The Valley Peak to introduce themselves to the valley and I toured them around the backroads helping select the routes. I knew the roads pretty well back then. They treated me as a VIP with some great privileges including getting to ride as a passenger in a car racing up and down the mine road. My buddy and I had great vantage points for every leg of the Rally.

It is an amazing event that brings lots of folks to the valley and that is awesome. It has really grown since their first time coming out here. The drivers, crews and families love it out here.

Mosquito Season

So far this year, mosquitoes have not been too bad, but they are out there. They can be very annoying. Last year I tried a mouthwash, Epsom salts and beer mixture to keep them away. It was actually quite effective at eliminating mosquitoes for a good length of time.

This week I was given a new suggestion. Cut a lime in half and insert whole cloves into the lime. Place these around your sitting area and the mosquitoes should disappear. It will be interesting to try.

Conspiracies

This page often has some controversial viewpoint expressed. If that angers you, please just skip this page.

Armour of God

What does it mean to ‘put on the armour of God’? I am sure it means something different for everyone.

For me it means to be truthful in the face of a lot of lying and ‘social justice’ virtue signaling. It does not mean to just let things carry on so I can get along. Stand up for what you know is right regardless of how often you are told that right is wrong. Follow the 10 Commandments and avoid the Seven Deadly Sins instead of celebrating them.

It Was That Year

(From page 4) In1961, a house cost $12,500, a car was worth $2,850 and the average annual income was $5,315. Gordie Howe reached 1,000 games, Poppin’ Fresh, the Pillsbury Dough Boy debuted and the Hockey Hall of Fame opened in Toronto.

Carbon Dioxide

Real studies are showing that the rise of CO2 levels follows the warming of the Earth, not the opposite. As the Earth warms up it releases more CO2 from things like slate and coral. Then more plants grow and more oxygen is produced. The Earth ‘greens’ and all life on the planet thrives a bit more. Carbon dioxide causing global warming is a complete lie designed to punish the middle class with unreasonable fuel costs.

One should note that the last volcano eruption released more carbon dioxide than 300 years’ worth of human emissions.

Tough Meal

I just ate a pocket calculator. I have always believed that it is what is on the inside that counts.

Hot or Cold

Do you think more people die from heat or cold on this planet every year? You are way off. The numbers show 9 people die from cold for every 1 that passes from heat.

Between 2000 and 2019, the Earth’s temperature increased by 0.8 degrees Fahrenheit. The estimate is that has saved 650,000 people. Seems like a climate ‘emergency’ to me. You will never see that

on the ‘reputable’ media. Where We Were

The hounds were pretending to be, or ‘identifying as’, a pit crew for the Rocky Mountain Relay. The folks down there were very friendly.

Going Extinct

The narrative that polar bears are going extinct, to push the climate change theory’, is a huge lie. We currently have 30,000 polar bears in the Arctic. That is well up from the 1970 numbers of 10,000. The media has been pushing misinformation heavily on this topic as they want to promote a ‘climate emergency’. You can do a tiny bit of research and find this out.

Nothing to See Here

In just 3 years we have seen a deadly pandemic, millions of sudden deaths (post vaccine), climate catastrophes, food shortages, a gender crisis, an energy crisis and banks collapsing. Plus they have coaxed us into thinking it is all coincidental.

Blank Stare

I spend a lot of time sitting at my keyboard wondering what to write about next. I often find myself just staring at nothing, trying to kickstart my thoughts. That is why you have to read sad little articles like this one. It has been 17 years of thinking every week.
