Homecoming 2023 ETBU's Homecoming 2023 was a remarkable weekend, extending a warm welcome to alumni and friends on campus Friday, October 27, through Saturday, October 28. The festivities commenced with a special Homecoming Chapel service, which included the recognition of the Class of 1973, the 2023 Golden Blazers, and Homecoming Award recipients. Throughout the two-day celebration, the Tiger Family enjoyed activities such as a Jazz Band concert, Tiger Pep Rally and Fireworks, Late Night Breakfast, Decade Reunions,


Tiger Family Carnival and Tailgate, and several Tiger athletic events. The weekend ended with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen and an ETBU Tiger Football victory.

ETBU Celebrates Dedication of Billy and Winky Foote Hall at Tiger Yard East Texas Baptist University welcomed generous donors and friends in celebration of the opening of the newly constructed Billy and Winky Foote Hall at Tiger Yard and the ETBU Tiger Ballpark on Friday, October 13. Billy and Winky Foote Hall at Tiger Yard is a multipurpose facility that houses loft-style student residences, the ETBU Baseball Clubhouse, and


the Blue Bengal Grocery Company, ETBU's branded on-campus, micro-market grocery store.

2023 Riley Servant Leaders Recognized East Texas Baptist University recognized senior students Avery Abshier and Abraham Contreras with the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award in a special chapel service on October 4. ETBU President Emeritus Dr. Bob Riley and his wife Gayle were on campus to celebrate the award

recipients. The Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award is a yearly recognition bestowed upon two upperclassman students who embody the principles of the servant leadership of Jesus Christ. These exceptional individuals are nominated by their peers, faculty, and staff in honor of their commitment to the Christ-centered model of servanthood.

Alumni Spotlight Keri Wilson ('92) initially chose ETBU because her mother worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Alumni Office. However, her journey at the University quickly transformed it into a second home, thanks to the meaningful friendships she cultivated during her time on the Hill. In May of 1992, Keri had the privilege of graduating in the same year as her mother, Jeannie (Nethery) Pinkston ('92), and she acknowledges that her successful college years were greatly influenced by both her mother and the guidance of Dr. James Hamby, her favorite professor in the Fred Hale School of Business.
