ETBU Band and Choir Israel Performance Tour

East Texas Baptist University Choir and Band embarked on a life-changing trip to Israel. Performing at several historical locations found throughout scripture, the band and choir learned more about and toured the Holy Land.

The ETBU band and choir performed at the Garden Tomb, Nazareth Baptist Church,

and Petah Tikva (Baptist Village), where they met ETBU alum Keith Riddle ('82) who serves as the Director of Baptist Village.

The performances did not stop there as the students sang their praises to God at Mount Carmel, Mount of Olives, Dead Sea, and other stops. Each performance drew a crowd that ranged from Hebrew and Arabic speakers, to secular and devout Jews, and Christian and Muslim Arabs.

"Everyone I know who has had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land says you will never be the same and I believe this to be true," said ETBU senior Eden Garrison. "With me, I carry the burdens, joys, and history of this place to hold and to keep."

Soccer TAME Trip to Spain and Portugal

For the University's fifteenth Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) trip, the ETBU Men's Soccer Team traveled to Spain and Portugal the week of Spring Break. The team partnered with the International Sports Federation (ISF) and served alongside International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries in Madrid, Spain and worked directly with Campus Crusade for Christ in Lisbon, Portugal.

“As I look back on the week, it’s easy to remember the photos, the world-famous futbol or soccer stadiums, the food, and a chance to see and experience a new culture or style of life that the majority of our group, including myself, have never done,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chad Cox. “However, it is the other moments that we hope made the most impact. The opportunities to join in on a Sunday worship with other believers in another language, or meet college students and converse about their journeys and relationships with the Lord, or how they feel about their lives.”

ETBU Students Participate in Beach Reach

Twenty-six ETBU students spent Spring Break in South Padre Island participating in Beach Reach, an annual ministry since 1980 that has served Spring Breakers on the island with shuttle rides, food, and sharing the Gospel.

As "Beach Reachers", ETBU students were able to develop relationships with Spring Breakers over the week through their service in free shuttle rides and free late-night pancakes. In those moments, ETBU students were able to learn about the personal and spiritual lives of those visiting for spring break while sharing the love of Jesus Christ to Spring Breakers.

"Overall, I saw Christ move on this trip both on the island and in my fellow ETBU students. I know He will do it all over again next year," said ETBU junior Haley Horton.
