ETBU Celebrates Record Spring Enrollment

East Texas Baptist University’s Spring 2023 enrollment surpassed the Spring 2022 enrollment record, with 1,560 new and returning Tigers enrolled for classes in January 2023. The 4.35% increase over last year’s record spring enrollment marks the first time Spring semester enrollment is over 1,500.

“This is a testament to the time, energy, and effort of our faculty and staff in their vital role in the Kingdom mission of East Texas Baptist,” ETBU President J. Blair Blackburn said. “We pray earnestly for the students the Lord has called to this Hill and praise Him for His

Tiger Softball travels to Australia for latest Tiger Athletic Mission Experience

ETBU's fourteenth Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) saw the Tiger Softball team travel to Australia in December. The group of 41 athletes and staff endured travel complications resulting in a 48-hour journey. The team competed in a 23 and Under tournament hosted by Softball Australia as ETBU went undefeated with six wins.

The Tigers spent one afternoon hosting a softball clinic at Hills Christian Church and Community School in Adelaide. Thirty children from the area participated in the clinic and heard ETBU student-athletes share their testimonies and faith while handing out t-shirts and ETBU trading cards, and signing autographs for campers.

Following the final game, the Tigers shared Scripture bracelets and spent time sharing about life in the United States with other teams. The team then partnered with Mission Australia and SecondBites, and packed over 950 meal bags for those in the community experiencing

hunger and food insecurity. The final day was spent in Sydney serving the Living Hope Church at Camperdown by wrapping Christmas gifts for church members and canvasing local neighborhoods inviting neighbors to the church's food pantry and other outreach activities.
