Homecoming 2022

This year's Homecoming festivities coincided with the University's 110th anniversary, marked by the annual Founders Day, which recognizes the institution's charter on October 22, 1912. During a special Homecoming Chapel service, the 2022 Golden Blazers, Alumni Award recipients, Golden Lightkeeper recipient, and the Honor Class of 1972 were recognized. ETBU seniors R.J. Miller and Abby Jones were named 2022 ETBU Homecoming King and Queen.

The brick will be installed outside the Ornelas Student Center in the Quad. When you buy a brick as a gift, you will receive a card with the personalized engraved brick information that you can give as a gift this holiday season. Bill Cox ('49) joins the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Alumni Podcast to discuss leading worship at his retirement center and when he came to the Hill in 1944. Ring Blessing

ETBU December 2022 graduates recently received their official ETBU Class Ring during a special Ring Blessing Chapel service. The Story of the ETBU Class Ring was read aloud as the University honored the upcoming Tiger graduates. The Ring Blessing service celebrates the accomplishment of the students during their time on the Hill and encourages them to take the Light of Christ with them after they leave campus following graduation.

2022 Turkey Trot

The ETBU Family recently joined together for the 2022 Turkey Trot. Students, Faculty, and Staff lined up in front of Centennial Hall for the annual Trot that featured a 2K walking course and a 5K running course. All proceeds from the event went to support the shipping costs for ETBU’s Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry.

Shirley ('05 & '16) Receives NFCA Humanitarian Award

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced ETBU Head Softball Coach Janae Shirley ('05 & '16) as the 2022 recipient of the Association's Humanitarian Award. Under her guidance, ETBU Softball has invested in community engagement initiatives that will leave a lasting impact throughout East Texas. Read more.

Texas Baptists name Kenebrew ('00) 2022 Baptist Educators Serving Texans Award Recipient

The Baptist Educators Serving Texans (B.E.S.T.) Award celebrates Christian educators who are living out their faith daily among their students and the Texas Baptists institutions that taught them. Adrien Kenebrew ('00) serves Hamshire Fannet ISD families and community as basketball coach and is a faithful member of 2nd Baptist Church of Baytown. Read more
