OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Easterseals MORC occupational therapists work with children and adolescents to learn, develop tools, and increase independence in daily life. Individuals receiving occupational therapy may have diagnoses like Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, or Down Syndrome, but many children may benefit from intervention without a formal diagnosis.

WHAT SKILLS ARE ADDRESSED IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?

Gross motor skills, coordination, body awareness

Fine motor skills, handwriting, typing

Sensory processing and regulation

Visual skills and eye-hand coordination

Assess root causes of challenges through a holistic lens

Identify strategies, tools, and adaptations to improve quality of life

Create individualized goals and therapy programs to increase independence in dailyactivities

Develop strong relationships and a supportive environment for skill building in therapy

Provide realistic and valuable resources, home activities, and recommendations

Family involvement is a critical component of success in occupational therapy, both in session and at home. In addition to coaching and support, families will receive information, resources, and materials to strengthen developmental skills at home and sustain progress between therapy sessions.
