Infinity of Glances - Paradise AIR

Infinity of Glances Project Infinity of Glances is a concept of photographic installation, employing analogue, multiple screen, looped and simultaneous slide projections. Installation assumes engagement of ambient space and creation of multivariate narration; as well adhibiting transparencies with written word, short literary forms. Technological basis of the installation are rotary projectors Kodak Carousel, at least four of them, 80 slides in each. Project is based on photographic found footage – educational and memorial slides sets published in 1950-1980 in Poland, USA, United Kingdom, USSR, Israel, China, Japan, Brazil and India(involuntarily close to BRIC investment funds interest areas); as well as slides from collection, archives and mine, contemporary photographs taken on diapositive film. One of the starting points is slides set Imperial Education Resources (1978 NY, USA) titled Enough Food for Everyone . It consists of slides organized in six themes, including six localization. Each theme consists of approximately 70 slides and cassette tape with quarter of an hour audio presentation. Themes: How Much Food Does a Person Need? - USA What is There to Eat? - India Food, Water, and Civilization – Egypt Food, the Land, and the People - Mexico Food, the Environment, and You – Japan Working Together to Solve the Food Problem – Tanzania

Infinity of Glances is en effort to 'write' illustrated history of parallel world, or alternative history of Earth, or history of alternative Earth – for instance, of the Earth where fossil fuels are not predominant source of energy, where economy is not based on gain, or where ego of entity has direct motive power. It requires creation on new cosmogony, mythology and history until the day when it is illustrated. Project assumes construction of Utopia and its visual representation in historical context; collective idea, which carrier is photography. It is a work focused on image, knowledge and its distribution, memory, history and process of it creation. What interest me the most is the course in which fact becomes an image, and the image is fixed in culture, where being transformed from physical object to idea; becomes long-lived, virtually indestructible. As far as human consciousness and collective memory is. I would love Infinity of Glances installation to be infused with poetry, not sleek aesthetics though. I envision work that bring together critical approach and poetic form. Project employs hugh narrative structure and its build of image and history theory, theory of photography. I assume outcome of time-based epic installation, that requires space and time for optimal reception

Infinity of Glances Stages of the project: 1.The design phase: • elaboration of technical conditioning of installation / projections for designated space • concept development, narration's build up and closure • conclusion of slide collection designated for further selection • trials in designated space 2.Development and implementation of the project: • work on texts in framework of Infinity of Glances narration • selection and edition of images • construction of structures and sequences of cause and effect inside subsequent projections • project promotion • final trials in exhibition space and arrangement of installation / multiscreen projection • building installation 3.Presentation and summary: • exhibition • project evaluation • video documentation

My most recent on-going project is based on photographic medium and its analytical while constructive, narrative potential. In general, it is research on vision of future through notion of past. It's photographic story of how we, human kind, see the way we go through the times. I wish to build critical but still poetic archive of hundreds of images, that would work as an introspective study of human progress. A multi-piece, simultaneous, physical slide show loop. I am building suggestive photo-archive of found footage images of last 50 years on slide pictures. 50 years of development, technocracy, extreme progress of human structures. I combine photographs recently taken by me with found images personal slide collections found on fly markets of Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, UK and USA, and mix of professional images of the world that does not exist any more in that shape. Out of all these images I am building new pictorial history of alternative universe, that doesn't run on oil, doesn't believe in growth based economy, does have own cosmology, human geography and physics and brings very own vision of the future. Photographic images are enriched with words, small lyrical forms, and collages to enable personal reading of this quasi parallel universe. I believe that Japanese culture and its iconography would provide great context as dominating technocracy in past century. I would love to take closer look into tradition of innovation and adaptation. I would like also to inspect notion of future land and its ability to construct alternative worlds, alternative future. I would research on visual junk of western culture as I take from junk of photography and bring up new terms of promised time and consequent promised future confronting it devastating experiences of XX century and near past in Japan. Apart of diapositive images project involves slides with words, short poetic forms, therefor Infinity of Glances project would benefit double from taking place in Matsudo. First of all - the hearings of local elders and minors is crucial. It would make a great impact on the whole project, starting form narration ending on the message. Secondary, Japanese aesthetic of word and culture of waka, tanka expecially would infuse Infinity of Glances and its textual layer.

*Place is space limited by the context. Space is infinity of glances
