END OF PROJECT VIDEOS EDUCATIONAL FOR PATIENTS

We have finished the Patient Educational Videos project! We currently have 52 videos with quick and easy explanations on different ophthalmology topics that interest our patients and their families. We can now access this information through the Visualiza operating system. Through these audiovisual tools, we consolidate knowledge and standardize the information we provide to patients.

TRAINING IN PEDIATRIC GLAUCOMA

AND OCULAR GENETICS , AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF ROCHESTER, NY. USA. EEUU.

Two trainings were held at the University Hospital of Rochester, New York, United States, focused on Pediatric Glaucoma and Ocular Genetics. These trainings were received by specialists in Ophthalmopediatrics Dr. Silvia Aceituno and Dr. Lisbeth, they were carried out inside the hospital under the supervision of Dr. Alex Levin. With this type of workshops you want to improve your skills and knowledge in these specialized fields, thus providing a better service to your patients in the clinic.

NEW THERAPY VABYSMO FOR RETINA UNIT

The use of the new ANTIVEGF therapy “Vabysmo” has been implemented for the Retina area aimed at patients with this pathology. The therapy offers patients an additional alternative in their treatments.

UPDATING OF PROTOCOLS DIAGNOSTIC STUDIES AND PREOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT AND USE OF ASSISTED ANESTHESIA

In the month of June, the information updates were carried out in the protocols of “Diagnostic study procedures” and “Preoperative management and the use of assisted anesthesia.” These updates aim to achieve a better standardization of information, optimization of processes and expedite patient evaluation times.

We received a visit from Dr. María Isabel at our Vincent Pescatore Hospital, where she provided support in performing plastic surgeries and the application of Botox in collaboration with Dr. Mardy Gomez.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

In the month of June, community days were held in different schools, achieving the recruitment of patients to be evaluated, one of the schools was in Canalitos Zona 25 in Barrio Jaguay where 90 children were evaluated and in the Mixed Rural School of San Raimundo. We continue to bring visual health to more places, with the aim of promoting the importance of taking care of eye health and being able to provide specialized care to all those who need it.

VISION CENTER

In our vision centers we continue to bring visual health to more places. During the month of June, different evaluations were carried out in different parts of the country. With the aim of promoting the importance of caring for eye health and being able to provide specialized care to all those who need it.

In the vision center of Chimaltenango several days of visual acuity evaluation were carried out. One in Escuela Federal and in the municipality of San Martin Jilotepeque, belonging to the department of Chimaltenango.

In addition, as part of the center’s positioning and growth activities, various activities were carried out, such as placing posters at strategic points and handing out flyers to people close to the center’s location.

During the month of outreach activities we held a day at the Marketing Institute where we were sharing and providing eye health to the students. Likewise, our staff managed to provide care to more than 41 patients with different eye conditions, such as cataracts and pterygium. Of these patients, 12 underwent surgery as part of their treatment process.

The collaborators of the Vision Center carried out a surgical activities as part of the follow-up activities of the ophthalmological conferences. Care was provided to patients with eye diseases and donations of surgeries were made to low-income people who had not had access to these procedures.

During the month we had the opportunity to visit the CODECI school where visual inspections were carried out for students, parents and teachers. The objective of this activity was to promote visual health and give them the opportunity to go to our specialists.

The vision center through its collaborators were present at the typical parade and other employer activities. These participations allow us to position ourselves and make our vision center known in order to impact more people who need help and eye health care.

Our personnel from the Vision Center, in collaboration with the doctor on duty from the health unit of the villages of San José las Islas and the Federation, carried out visual acuity evaluations and vital signs at the facilities of the Community Hall.

The Vision Center held a outreach activities in the Cojxac village of Totonicapán, carrying out eye evaluations for students, teachers and parents. Information was provided on the importance of visual health care in children, with the aim of preventing poor school performance due to eye problems.

As part of our educational support, personalized advice was offered on the Optometry service, including visual acuity tests, ocular refraction, detection of pathologies and the importance of eye care. This valuable information was provided to the Totonicapán Convergence Center.

Through the Vision Center, a conference was held in the village of El Naranjo in the municipality of Guastatoya, where information on eye care was provided, visual acuity evaluations, glucose tests, and ocular pressure measurement were performed. During the day we were able to identify people who could benefit from our social programs.

Huehuetenango

Continuing with our sessions at the Vision Centers, Huehuetenango was no exception. We carry out sessions in the villages of Canabaj and Xetenam, located in the municipality of Huehuetenango. During these days, eye evaluations were carried out on children and adults from the community.

During the month of June Visualiza carried out Business Visual outreach activities, with the aim of reaching more people in companies and providing consultations for the care and monitoring of the visual health of employees.

The main purpose of these activities is to promote visual health within companies, making eye care more accessible for employees. Some of the companies that participated in these sessions were Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Muebles Fiesta and the Mayora y Mayora Law Firm.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Refractive surgery training, given by Dr. Bregni in the month of June, focused on improving knowledge and promoting professional growth in the field of the anterior segment. During the training, specialized supervision was provided in the performance of refractive surgeries and the placement of intraocular rings. The main objective of this training program was to enable the participants to provide better care in the area of refractive surgery, thus strengthening their skills and knowledge.

The training for our optometrists from the vision centers, was given by Dr. Samayoa, with the main objective of improving and strengthening the quality of evaluation and referral of patients to our closest hospitals. This training sought to provide optometrists with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform more accurate vision assessments and provide appropriate recommendations to patients based on their specific needs. In this way, greater efficiency is ensured in the referral of patients to our hospitals to receive the appropriate treatment.

The main objective of this workshop was to capture quality photographs of important cases during the workshops, to document success stories.
