INAUGURATION

JOCOTENANGO We remain firm in our commitment to visual health. During the month of January, we enthusiastically celebrated the opening of our 12th Vision Center in Jocotenango.

With the opening of this new center, we further expand our vision of service, reaching an even greater number of people in our community. We firmly believe that access to quality eye care is essential to ensuring everyone’s vision health, and we are committed to making this care accessible to all.

SUBSPECIALTY

PREVIOUS SEGMENT We are pleased to announce the opening of our new anterior segment subspecialty at the Academy of Ophthalmology. This program is designed to provide ophthalmologists with specialized training in the study and management of the cornea and lens, vital aspects for visual health.

With a focus on academic excellence and clinical innovation, our subspecialty program offers unique opportunities for professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are committed to developing leaders in ophthalmology who can make a tangible difference in the eye health of our community, moving toward eradicating avoidable blindness.

WORKING DAY

PEDIATRIC

We are pleased to share a summary of the Pediatric Conferences that took place during the month of January! These days were organized with the aim of providing valuable information and important resources to promote the health and well-being of children.

In the pediatric conferences carried out in different locations in Guatemala, our mission to care for the eye health of the youngest has been a notable success.

In Chimaltenango, 260 children were screened, identifying and referring those with refractive problems to the local vision center, where 70 treatments were performed.

In Poptún Petén, the “Looking Towards the Future” program reached 391 children, providing screenings, educational talks and selecting vision captains, with 63 treatments for refractive problems.

In Totonicapán, care was extended to the entire community, with 391 children screened and 8 treatments performed. Additionally, in Guastatoya, a special activity at the CADEP center allowed 105 patients to be treated, with 23 treatments for refractive problems. These days not only offer eye care, but also a ray of joy and hope to those who need it most.

ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES:

FREE OPHTHALMOLOGICAL CONSULTATIONS: Health professionals were available to offer free eye consultations and answer questions about children’s eye health. INFORMATIVE STANDS: Booths were set up with information about ophthalmological services, eye health programs for children and resources available for families. EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL: Printed and digital educational materials were distributed on topics relevant to eye health.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants and collaborators who made the success of these days possible. TRAINING AND

DEVELOPMENT

1.

INDUCTION BY SPECIALTY TO OPHTHALMOLOGIST DOCTORS Training aimed at new doctors with the objective of knowing the protocols and generalities of patient care in each of the ophthalmology subspecialties within Visualiza, in order to know the standardization of processes when providing support in some area specific specialization.

2.

TRAINING PLAN FOR DROP-FREE CATARACT SURGERY Training aimed at all ophthalmology doctors. In conjunction with SEVA, monthly training is carried out on the complete study protocol, on study forms (practical).

3.

GUIDE FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANTS Training aimed at doctors and medical assistants in the areas of Xela, Petén and zone 9. With the main objective of knowing the necessary requirements of the assistant for a more agile process in the medical clinic. Get replicable results regardless of the work area or the doctor to assist.

4.

CATARACT RESULTS WITH PHACO Training aimed at ophthalmologist doctors, making known through reports made by ophthalmologist doctors, the results of cataract surgeries with FACO and knowing the impact that this has on the patient.
