Nor th Reg ional TEEN TUTORING (Teens) Tuesdays and Thursdays, Mar. 2-30 4 - 6 p.m. Join the Teen Service Corp and tutor local elementary students. This is a great way to get experience tutoring, help build your community and meet new people. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! See Desiree Peterson, or visit the Information Desk to fill out a tutor application.

FOOD AND FICTION FRIDAYS (Tweens, Teens) Fridays 3 - 5 p.m. Grab a book, relax and read! Feed your bodies and your minds in this read-in. Time will be split between quiet reading and talking about our current and favorite books. Snacks will be provided.

HOMESCHOOL LEARNING LAB (Teens) Thursdays 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. The Homeschool Learning Lab is a program that allows homeschoolers time and space to come together in the library for social, educational and fun programming. Each week, we will have a different activity. Parents are always invited to facilitate a lab.

Do you ever wonder what avocado ice cream or chocolate covered bacon tastes like? Join us for a fun cooking class where we will find bizarre recipes, prepare them and eat! *Registration is required.

Spring 2017 Branching Out

Join Uptown Glamor for a three-week sewing class where students ages 10 to 15, alongside a parent, learn the basics of sewing and fashion design while building character. Learn to sew on youth-friendly sewing machines, use patterns and take your own measurements to create wearable garments. Strengthen mathematics skills as you create your own fashion brand. Every class ends with a fashion show for students to showcase their work. You even get to take home what you make throughout the course! All supplies included.

TEEN ZINE (Teens) Mondays, Mar. 6, 20; Apr. 3, 17; May 1, 15 5 - 6 p.m. Are you a writer, an artist or an editor? Join the Teen Zine staff to start North Regional’s first self-published magazine! We will meet on the first and third Monday of every month and publish two to three zines each year. Let your voice be heard!

GAME ON! TEEN GAME DAY (Teens) Tuesdays and Thursdays (except Apr. 4, 11, 13) 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. Join us as we battle it out on the Wii and the Xbox Kinnect. Whether your gaming speed is NBA 2015, Madden, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers or something else entirely, check out our Teen Game Days. *6-8TH GRADE BOOK CLUB (Teens) Wednesdays, Mar. 8; Apr. 12; May 10 4:45 - 5:30 p.m. Join the 6-8th Grade Book Club at South Regional. TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) (Grades 6-12) Thursdays, Mar. 2; Apr.6; May 4 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Join Southwest’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG) to get volunteer time, eat snacks and make an impact at the library! All are welcome! TAG meets on the first Thursday of every month. In March, we will prepare for Mini Maker Day. In April, we will learn circus tricks with Flow Circus and in May, we will work on Star Wars crafts. Snacks will be provided. We will read and discuss Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley in March and If I Was Your Girl by Margaret Russo in April. MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOKCLUB (Tweens, Teens, Adults) Saturdays, Mar. 25; Apr.22; May 20 3 - 4 p.m. Join this inter-generational book club for parents/caregivers and their teenagers! We will read and discuss Little Women by Louisa May Alcott in March, The Mother-Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick in April and Courage for Beginners by Karen Harrington in May.

MARSHMALLOW ENGINEERING Wednesday, Mar. 29 4 - 5 p.m. Learn what components and ideas architects and construction workers have to keep in mind when planning to build a skyscraper or tower, and create your own towers using only marshmallows and toothpicks. *Registration is required. ICE CREAM TASTING PARTY Monday, May 8 4 - 5 p.m. Teens, think you can recognize name brand ice cream from the generic brand simply by tasting? Bring your taste buds and sweet tooth and find out! EGG DROP SPLAT Monday, May 22 4 - 5 p.m. Think you can create an invention that will hold an egg and prevent it from cracking when dropped from several feet in the air? What is the science behind creating your egg shield? You can work individually or on teams. May the best invention win! TEEN JEOPARDY Wednesday, May 31 4 - 5 p.m. Come out and enjoy a fun game of teen jeopardy, and get your brain cells working!

Come and join us for our open MakerDays to learn about 3D printing, robotics, alternative energy and more! Explore different types of robots, build a small motor and create an object to print. The possibilities are endless! No tech experience required! These programs are great for families and are open to all ages. GAME DAY Thursdays 3 - 5 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of Xbox, Wii and board games! Light snacks provided. SPLIT FOCUS: PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB FOR TEENS (Ages 14-19) Thursdays 5 - 6 p.m. Come join us as we explore the world around us through camera and lens. Each month, this primarily student-led program will focus on different topics and how they can be represented and expressed through film. Students’ work will be printed and displayed.

EXPLORATION OF SPACE WITH MOREHEAD MOBILE PLANETARIUM AND SCIENCE CENTER Saturdays, May 13, 27 1 p.m. Join us as we discover the world of space. Our friends from UNC Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will bring their mobile planetarium to the MakerLab. Come explore the world of space with this full dome digital video mobile planetarium, and learn about black holes and other space topics!
