How to pass exams every time by M. Evans How to pass exams by D. O’Brien. How to manage your study time by R. Lewis.

8 Steps to surviving Exams 1. Timing: make sure you know how much time you have in the exam, what kind of questions you will be asked, and how many there will be. That way you can split your time between the questions to make sure they all get answered. 2. End of exam: when you’re doing an exam that involves long answers, it’s a good idea to leave some space at the end of the answer so you can add any additional comments or arguments that might come to mind when you re-read your paper at the end of the exam 3. Move on: don’t spend all your time on questions you know the answer to. Remember that you have to answer all the questions, and you will get a poor mark for answering some questions supremely well and some not at all. 4. Handwriting: make sure your writing is legible. It’s worth taking a little extra time making sure your work is neat enough for the examiner to read it. Try to avoid spelling mistakes too. 5. Be prepared: the more prepared you are, the more likely you are to succeed. 6. Keep calm: most importantly, DON’T PANIC! If you feel yourself getting stressed, take a deep breath. 7. Exam post-mortem: don’t try to dissect the exam once you have finished it. There’s no point in going through what answers you put down compared to your friend. If you’ve put down different answers, it’s not going to help you in your next exam by worrying about it. 8. Move on: once an exam is over forget about it. There is nothing more you can do about it. The best thing you can do is go home and revise for the next one.

Learning Resources survey results. It is important for us to ask our users what they think of our services. Each year, we ask our users to complete a questionnaire to gather the feedback required. This way we know what we are doing well, but more importantly where we need to improve. We had 189 students complete the survey this year from all three sites. These results have been collated; the headline results are shown below: 0

The above results show a generally positive reflection of Learning Resources. The resources found within the area and ease of access to college systems is generally very good. The above does however show areas we need to focus on. One of these areas is ProMonitor. The survey results seem to suggest that not as many students are accessing the system as should be and general satisfaction with ProMonitor was lower than other college systems we surveyed. These results will be investigated further and improvements will be built into our development plan for next year. I am already aware of some future developments with the software which may improve feedback once installed and tested. Thanks to all of those who completed the survey. A prize draw has taken place and one lucky person has won a ÂŁ30 Amazon voucher. The winner was Kiranjit Matharu who is an A level student at Broadway. Congratulations!

Learning Resources Service Level Agreement audit. The departments within Learning Resources are required to complete a Service Level Agreement (SLA). This SLA specifies what you can expect from us and what we expect of you when you use our services or facilities. Each year, we have to audit these SLA’s to ensure that we are offering the best service possible. Below are the results for this years audit. Libraries

10 Steps to revision success

1. Revision space: find a good place to work. It should be quiet and uncluttered. 2. Revision timetable: make a revision timetable - it's crucial. It should be realistic, cover all subjects and allow you time off to relax. 3. Make notes: don't just read through your class work, make notes. Try to gradually shorten your notes so they fit on the back of a postcard. 4. Revision guides: ask your teacher which ones are the best and then make sure that you use them! 5. Questions and answers: write out some questions and answers to see how much you're actually remembering. 6. Listen in: record your notes and then play them walking down the street or while you're in bed. 7. Prompts: put key words and phrases on sticky notes around the house, so you'll see them often. 8. Seek help!: don't go it alone. They say a problem shared is a problem halved. So, get friends and family to help you revise. 9. Past papers: make sure you look at some past papers, they're a really good way of knowing what to expect in the exam. 10. Relax: if you panic you're lost! The exams are going to happen so you might as well give yourself the best chance of doing well by starting to revise early and keeping calm. 11.
