A Message From Your Editor

As you probably know by now, Dublin Key Club has a new officer team for the 2021-2022 term. First and foremost, as our term begins, the school year is coming to an end. With finals, projects, and AP tests, creating a lot of stress, we want to encourage you all to stay strong in the last few weeks of school and to let you know that you can reach out to us if you ever need anything. On behalf of all the officers, I am also here to tell you that one of our biggest goals is to keep you informed and to grow and build connections with all of you. In an attempt to do this we have decided to use Newsletters to give you an opportunity to learn about us and to give us an opportunity to learn about you. On behalf of the entire officer team, each month through this Newsletter I will be giving you updates of upcoming events, making announcements, and giving all Key Club members and officers a chance to come together. We hope that you enjoy the first edition and we look forward to growing our Dublin Key Club Community!

Ryka Dhawan

Officer "Get To Know You"

Question for the officers: What Are Some of Your Hobbies?

Sarah(president):

Unfortunately, I am an overly ambitious person which means I have way too many things to handle. Thankfully, that means I get to tell a bunch of fun facts about myself -- I'm in Dublin High School's Varsity Dance Team (please don't watch me though that would embarrass me so much), I travel the world through baking ... mostly in cookies, and I foster puppies! Currently I have three little chihuahuas who won't shut up while I'm trying to write my response.

Aryan(co-vice president):

I love being outdoors and hanging out with friends. I enjoy being active and playing sports. I play basketball and football for fun.

Priya(co- vice president):

Hey Blue Devils! My name is Priya Bhatia and I’m your Co-Vice President for this term. Aside from being an officer, I love playing video games, watching anime, and doing art. I am so excited to get to know you all! :)

Maahika(Treasurer):

1. I enjoy playing all types of games including board games and video games. 2. I love to eat food, my favorites are taco bell and boba. 3. I’m learning crocheting and calligraphy.

Sanjana(Secretary):

I love to do many things from singing to art to playing sports. I play three sports, swimming, badminton and volleyball and I am also an avid singer ever since a very young age. I have trained professionally and I also constantly do art on mediums ranging from stained glass to coffee grind paintings. Overall, I love doing a lot of things and I’m never bored because of that :)

Jessica(Historian):

Hi Dublin!! I'm Jessica, and I will be your Historian for this term! Some of my hobbies include graphic design, drawing, and writing! As you can see, I'm more of an arts-oriented person! I look forward to serving all of you :D

Ryka(News Editor):

Some of my favorite hobbies include playing tennis, playing guitar, traveling, listening to music, playing video games, being in DECA, and finding new ways to volunteer !

Leanne(Project Chair):

I love playing sports like badminton and volleyball. I also love traveling, doing arts and crafts, and singing. During my free time, sometimes I would learn a new choreography to my favorite song or songs!

Learn about the experiences of other Key Club Members at events!

"We did a FreeRice/Math for UNICEF event where we could choose which service project we wanted to do out of the two. I did Math for UNICEF and it was really cool. We went on a website and answered basic math algebra questions. The more questions I got right, the more money was donated for kids. It was really nice to be able to contribute to the betterment of kids worldwide by doing something so simple!" -Ria Khatri

"This event was really nice! This was the first event that I attended this term and its really nice seeing the new officers lead this event. They did an amazing job and played nice music. I'm very proud of how far they have already come and think they are amazing officers. I was able to raise a lot of money for this event and I was really happy! Overall great event!" -Richard Chung

"In this service event, I made dog toys from old tshirts that were lying around. The meeting had an extremely chill atmosphere, with classic pop songs playing in the background and everyone focusing on their own projects. It felt liberating to take time out of my day and simply work on a hands-on project, and I hope to participate again in the future." -Deya Liao

Tips From Your Officers For May Tip 1: Start studying for finals NOW! Try not to procrastinate on studying because it will become overwhelming.

Tip 2: If you have questions or need advice on specific AP Tests, feel free to contact the officers through Instagram, discord, or the Dublin Key Club email.

Tip 3: The HUB is always really helpful if you need help studying for finals.

Tip 4: Always remember that grades don’t define who you are, what you are going to be or your life after college. Try your hardest in high school but if it doesn’t turn out the way you expected, THAT’S OKAY!

Tip 5: On the week of finals, please get your sleep. Do NOT pull all nighters because your brain will not function as needed the next day.

Tip 6: Remember that everyone is different. You might not be as good at math as others but THAT’S OK! Everyone is different which means everyone’s paths, aspirations and goals are different and DO NOT try to suppress them.

Tip 7: You don’t NEED a review book for Tip 8: This counteracts my previous an AP test (though it is suggested); some tip but if you need a review book, resources I recommend to study are a) reach out to us in Discord! I have the teacher’s lectures, b) Tom Richey tons to lend out and I’m sure some of videos / crash course and c) the other officers do too! fiveable.com / myap.org

Tip 9: Remember to take breaks and relax! I know it can be hard to find time to do so but even a few minutes here and there will help. It is very important to not overwork yourself and to keep your mind refreshed.

Tip 10: If you are wondering how much you need on your final to get a certain grade in the class, make sure to check out rogerhub.com! This can be really helpful in prioritizing classes as well!

AND OF COURSE... Tip 11: Make sure to end the school year with a BANG! This year might not have been your ideal year. You might have been distracted during class and you might have not joined as many clubs as you would have wanted, but that’s because this year hasn’t been ideal either. No matter what you have gone through or how this year has been for you, FINISH OFF STRONG and look forward to another amazing year. You got this!
