Casey Cooper joined the Delaware State University Athletics Department in August 2011 as an Associate Athletic Trainer. He serves as the primary athletic trainer for the volleyball, men’s basketball and softball teams. Cooper graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science from Salisbury University and a Master’s of Science in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University.

The Rehoboth Beach, Del. native has two sisters and currently resides in Dover, Del. with his parakeet named Bubba.

MAGGIE HAYON Maggie Hayon joined the Delaware State Athletic Department in April 2011 and is the main contact for women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, equestrian, women’s soccer, softball and volleyball. Prior to joining the Hornets, Hayon spent nearly two years at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. While there, she was the main contact for the men’s basketball, softball and men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams. Additionally, she was responsible for developing publications and promotional materials while further enhancing the Hawks’ role in the community and in social media. Hayon graduated from Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wis.) in May 2008 with a B.A. in Public Relations and minor in Marketing. During her four years at MU, she worked for the Golden Eagles Athletic Department as an administrative student assistant and game-day staff.

Additionally, she spent two summers with the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club as a Media Relations Intern (2006) and Community Relations Intern (2007). Upon graduation, she accepted a position as the Media Relations Assistant for Minor League Baseball’s Eugene Emeralds. She continues to volunteer her time with the Brewers Community Foundation (formerly Brewers Charities, Inc.). Prior to joining the staff at UMES, Hayon spent eight months nannying for two families and babysitting for three other families, all in the Milwaukee area. The Howards Grove, Wis. native is a member of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). She is the proud aunt to Sullivan.
