Dan’s Papers 2011 Summer Intern Alexandra Andreassen is headed to Oxford University for six months of intensive study abroad. Go Alex! * * * East Hampton resident Russell Simmons appeared on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live” last week to talk about the late rapper, Heavy D. Said Simmons, “He was the author of a whole new kind of music.” Simmons also appeared at the Occupy Boston encampment last week, telling protestors, “The Occupy movement is under attack” and “I don’t like having my secretary paying more in taxes than me.” * * * Southampton’s Sean “Diddy” Combs partnered with Interscope-Geffen-A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine and artist Raphael Mazzucco to create CULO, a new photography collection celebrating the female form. The coffee table book will be released on Tuesday. * * * Speaking out for a good cause, Hamptons regulars James Lipton and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps recently made recordings for the Long Island Rail Road. The announcements remind passengers that smoking is no longer permitted on outdoor platforms. * * * Southampton Mayor Mark Eply dined locally at 75 Main last week, as did Ramona Singer. * * * Hamptons resident Joy Behar will be cutting back her workload next year when her eponymous news show, “The Joy Behar Show,” ends after two seasons. The last episode will air on HLN next month. Water Mill power couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been making headlines. Ripa bid Regis Philbin farewell on “Live!” last week and began as the show’s main co-host this week, and Consuelos is getting rave reviews for his performance in the off-Broadway show, Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. * * * After months of secrecy, Lauren Bush Lauren’s wedding dress, designed by her father-in-law, East Hampton’s Ralph Lauren, was recently featured on People magazine’s website. It reportedly took 100 craftspeople more than 3,000 hours to embroider and assemble the gown. * * * East Hampton’s Steven Spielberg appeared with film composer John Williams on the premiere episode of TCM’s “AFI Master Class” last week. The longtime collaborators discussed their work on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and more. * * * Several talented East End teens will perform in the 85th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this week, including Danielle Allen, 15, of Riverhead; Karley Bourke, 14, of Southampton; Toryn Cairo, 15, of Shoreham; Rose Davis, 15, Tyler Hill, 13, and Christiana Moyle, 14, of Westhampton Beach; and Sabrina Kull, 14, of Hampton Bays.
