East Enders were pleased and proud to see local food producers featured on Ina Garten’s show, “Barefoot Contessa” on the Food Network last week. The episode, titled “Market Day” will also run at 1 p.m. on Halloween Day, October 31. The footage was shot last spring at the Sag Harbor Indoor Farmers Market, then located in Bay Street Theatre. * * * East Hampton’s Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer of “Terra Nova,” a new sci-fi drama that debuted on FOX. Reviews have been mixed, and some are wondering if Spielberg was too occupied with other projects to focus on this one. * * * East Hampton resident and “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay recently donated $100,000 to her alma mater, UCLA. The gift will go toward a new theatre scholarship in Hargitay’s name.

It is well-known that the chic set flocks to Daraio-Hays, but she never names names. * * * Sag Harbor’s, Dylan Jenet “Winter Rain” Collins is the 2011 Native American Music Award Winner for Best Pop Recording Artist for her compact disc Hear Our Prayer! The gifted 13-year-old Montaukett Indian Nation member is the youngest NAMMY Winner in the history of the award. Collins was also a solo performer at the 13th Annual NAMMY Awards event held in Niagara Falls. * * * Sag Harbor resident Donna Karan was the keynote speaker at the 11th Annual United Way Women’s Leadership Breakfast in Miami last week. The designer and philanthropist spoke about building Haitian commerce by selling local artisans’ work through her Urban Zen Foundation. Said Karan, “It’s not giving them money; it’s giving them a job.” * * * 2011 James Beard Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and best-selling author Kevin Zraly spoke to a group of oenophiles at Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue on Sunday.
