DIPLOMAT STORY.

So many memorable experiences I could share ... There was a grandmother raising her granddaughter, who had a kidney transplant. They would come into the pharmacy on Sunday mornings after they attended their church services, dressed in their Sunday best. One day the grandmother came in, noticeably upset. She told me that her granddaughter had contracted the shingles virus and was in the hospital. She was in a great deal of discomfort, and her grandma wanted to know if I had any ideas to provide her some relief. I contacted her physician the next day, and we were able to make a combination compounded anti-viral/pain cream. Everyone was thrilled with the pain relief she experienced.

DIPLOMAT STORY.

One young patient, not anticipating a cancer diagnosis, had signed up for an insurance plan with limited coverage. Upon diagnosis, he discovered there was a benefit cap on the policy, which he had thought was a deductible. To treat the cancer, the patient was prescribed a medication that cost over $5,000 a month. As you can imagine, this was quite a hardship. I worked diligently with both the patient and his mother to enroll him into a manufacturer free drug program, while also working to secure Medicaid coverage for his therapy going forward and other supportive medications that were needed. Thankfully, I can say we were successful. Although this occurred over seven years ago, I still recall the day the patient walked back to the nurses’ station and told us all that he was in remission. I’m not sure where he is today and I doubt he knows the impact he made on me. But the feeling of being a part of something much larger than myself has always stuck with me. While it was the patient who battled cancer, it was and still is a rewarding experience to fight alongside them and be a part of their journey.

DIPLOMAT STORY.

I was hired as a patient care coordinator while I was finishing my college degree, and assigned to speak with new and existing patients. Diplomat gave me a chance to learn and to grow my knowledge through various positions. The company is loyal and supportive, and does what they say—not only for their patients but for their employees. I work at Diplomat because they gave me a chance to grow professionally. No matter what your position here is, you somehow impact the patient. Whether you’re training employees, reviewing a contract, packaging medication for delivery, checking the status of the prior authorization, entering a prescription … it all comes down to helping that patient at the end of the phone. That’s why I am proud to be a Diplomat employee.

DIPLOMAT STORY.

It was my senior year in high school. I knew I wanted to be a pharmacist “when I grew up,” but wasn’t really sure what I was in for. I went to a youth leadership meeting and the speaker there talked about college and what to expect. Her name was Carrie. Carrie mentioned that she wanted to go to pharmacy school. I immediately started listening intently. Before then, I didn’t know anybody else who wanted to go to pharmacy school. After the meeting, I talked to Carrie. She told me about compounding pharmacy (even cooler!) and told me she worked at Diplomat. She then shared, “We sure are busy; you should apply for a job!” The next day, I called Diplomat. “Come on in and talk to Phil; he does the hiring,” I was told. I went in, had an interview with Phil and he hired me. I was so excited to work at Diplomat Pharmacy.
