The Ben Hill Co. Volunteer Fire Department will have a great Fireworks display on Friday, July 4th, because of the generosity of many sponsors throughout our community. This year’s Fireworks display will be bigger and better. At the start of the Firework show, the first ones will be the ones that were purchased by the city/county; and then the biggest part of the show will be the sponsored Fireworks. Then the best part of the show is the main finale. Be sure to get to the park early to get a good spot plus to enjoy the activities throughout the day. The Ben Hill Co. Volunteer Fire Department does an outstanding job on the Fireworks display. We so appreciate them for all they do for our community.

Just in time for the start of hurricane season, Ready Georgia has introduced an upgraded version of its award-winning mobile app. Thousands of people have used the app to prepare for emergencies since it was launched in 2011. Now users can take advantage of new features, including improved weather alerts and traffic maps to stay safe during emergencies as well. The upgraded Ready Georgia app features geo-targeted severe weather and emergency alerts that will notify users’ phones before disasters strike. The app also includes traffic information, including a live traffic map with incident reports straight from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Finally, an enhanced shelters map displays the location of open Red Cross shelters and approved “good Samaritan” shelters, and provides directions from the users’ current location. The app is available for free download on iPhone and Android devices.
